View 1 RepliesI should like to use a picture from my photographs in my pictures as background for desktop.
View 1 RepliesI have come to the conclusion W10 is about a year away from a solid product. I think we are all part of Gamma Testing. Here is one of several problems that should not be occurring.
I set the background picture to the beach scene. It stayed there for about 3 hours. Then the background went to a solid black. If I go back to Background Preview the proper picture is previewed. I can change the solid color to any color by switching to Solid Color and choosing any of the color picks, but no matter how many times I try, reboot, cuss at the screen, I cannot get the background picture to display properly. I can always set the background choice to it, and it shows in the preview, but not as the actual background.
The picture choice also shows in Themes when I look there. Everyplace but where I want it. On my screen as a background.
Doing some searching, it appears this problem dates back to W8.
With the latest build 10074 there doesn't appear to be a way to use two different background pictures on two monitors. This feature has been available since Windows 7, perhaps earlier. I have provided that information to Microsoft.
Using a horizontal inversion on one picture makes a nice desktop background.
I have a tablet, a laptop and a desktop computer all running Windows 10. I log on to each with my Microsoft account. Each has all of its settings set to sync yet I have a different background picture on each device. Shouldn't I have the same background on each one in these circumstances? And if so, what determines which background takes precedence?
Since writing this I have found my laptop has suddenly changed the background to match with the desktop computer, so now it is only the tablet that is out of sync.
Oh, now the tablet has synced as well. I assume, then, that there must be some sort of delay before syncing takes place. But I still wonder what determines which background takes precedence.
I have set up my background to display slideshow. There appears to be no save button on this page. Every time I reboot the computer I find the slideshow has been changed back to "picture" mode.
View 9 RepliesWhen I go into Settings and set the Background picture/slideshow, I always see letters on the sample screen, like 'Aa' and 'Sample Text'. What can you do with that? I don't find any explanations anywhere.
View 5 RepliesI have looked in the Settings personalize Tab and can not locate the time tab for setting interval for picture changing? any other location it may be located in?
View 1 RepliesHaving difficulty adding a picture / wallpaper to the lock screen. I have just set up windows 10 screen saver and I see you can change the lock screen back ground picture.
I have tried adding either one of the windows wallpapers or one of my own pictures but I can't find any option to save the image. on closing the window & returning to the lock screen the picture does not appear to save and returns to the standard blue background with date and time.
I can't find any option to save the image as a lock screen wallpaper.
Why the Windows 10 picture album I set as my background slideshow disappears when I shut down my computer, and I have to reload it every time I turn the machine on and sign in? Is this yet another glitch in the "wonderful" Windows 10?
View 2 RepliesMy windows 10 Alienware laptop randomly blue screened and its not to shocking seeing, as all our windows 10 computers seem to bluescreen like its going out of style. but I googled the error tag and proceeded to fix it. The error was a Nvidia driver outdated and I then updated.
But I realized my background changed and to my horror was the same background as my primary PC (desktop gaming rig) There are a few ways the laptop and the desktop are connected Steam Geforce etc/Im a little concerned because I'm almost positive I have never once downloaded the same wallpaper on this laptop. and why it would steal my desktops wallpaper and replace it after BSOD I dont understand.
the BSOD was "System Thread Exception Not Handled".Here is the first set of my dxdiag.txt right after the bluescreen. too much text for an upload site

how to change the desktop background (which is curiously located in a completely different menu outside of the control panel!) and tried to choose a local folder with pictures in it, Windows somehow thinks the folder is empty.
Now, when I go to that folder in Explorer, it's full of pictures. They are all jpgs and are the same pictures that populate my synced theme, just more of them than are allowed to fit in a synced theme. I can't understand why this folder is coming up empty when choosing a slideshow when it has tons of pictures.
I find that the personalization settings have changed. I boot to a new background but then it stays fixed on the new picture. In the Personalisation settings. 'Slideshow' changes itself to 'Picture'. I set it to use the slideshow when on batteries, but that switch turns off, too.
View 2 RepliesSomehow during my tweaking of win10 to match my preferred setup (so it's just like all the previous windows versions in other words), I added the uber-admin account to the login screen. No clue how it got there, but it was, and it didn't need to be - I'm the only user of this machine (or any of my others) and my "normal" account has admin privs.
Yesterday, I found out (love this forum....) how to take the uber-admin account off the login screen. I did so. This morning when I started the computer, my desktop graphic/wallpaper isn't there, and resetting it in the Personalize screen (or in the Personalize classic screen) doesn't restore it.
I am having problems changing my profile picture, I have looked around the internet and tried everything I could, When i try to change it I get an error saying "Setting the account picture failed. Please try again." I also cant see it on the lock screen everytime i reboot it.
View 5 RepliesI was recently having some problems with widows 10 so I had the bright idea to Rest my PC using the options in the settings. I then chose to "Keep my files" as I have documents that I would like not to be deleted. So I let this run and nothing out of the ordinary occurred and everything seemed to be going well. Eventually the OS boots up and I get just the the windows 10 background (the one with 4 blue windows tiles). I see this and nothing else. No windows button, no desktop apps, and my keyboard does nothing, ie no ctrl+alt+del does anything. All I have displayed is my internet connection and the ease of access button. I do have a cursor though, but it is useless as right clicking or left clicking does nothing.
View 9 RepliesI have several computers and want different desktop background pictures for each. Never been a problem until I upgraded one computer to Windows 10. Now, Windows keeps changing the wallpaper so all my computers have the same desktop background picture.
View 1 RepliesI just installed Win10 and had everything set up like I wanted. I rebooted and now I have a black desktop. I can see my icons and the taskbar changes colors to the theme I picked. The lock/log screen shows the pic I chose. I have tried everything and I can't get my theme to show on my desktop.
View 1 RepliesI just installed the BioniX Wallpaper Animator to make my desktop background a gif. It made the gif all wierd and made my computer lag so I uninstalled the software and tried to change the background but it won't let me change the background. Whenever I open settings and go to change the background it is all glitchy and kind of slow and it never changes it, I tried changing the background in control center but the same thing happened. I'm not sure what is happening but I have a feeling the software took over the background settings. I am extremely frustrated and don't know what to do. I have temporarily set the ease of access settings to remove the desktop which is the only thing that works right now but it just changes it to black.
View 1 RepliesAs a keen flickr member I have a lot of photographs on my computer. These are all neatly allocated to different files, depending upon a variety of variables. So far....all is well.
Yesterday my neighbour kindly upgraded me to Windows 10. Everything seemed fine.
Today I tried to take 4 photographs off my camera and load them up to my computer. Initially I got a dialogue box asking me what I would like to do in future when I plugged in my camera - I said "upload the pix to my computer".
Previously they have always arrived on my desktop in a separate file. I would then edit them, afterwards splitting them up into different files, depending on what I want to do with them.
Anyway, this morning, after taken 4 photographs, I plugged in my camera. I then get a message saying "We found 880 photos. Would you like to import them into your picture folder". And the only alternatives given were IMPORT or CANCEL.
I do NOT want all my pix jumbled together in a picture folder. I want them all neatly organized into the folders I have set up.
Is there any way I can get rid of this 'Picture folder' and go back to using my existing folders (they are all still there, and all still containing the photographs they should rightfully contain.)
Today when i booted up i noticed ive no desktop background, i can cycle through backgrounds and i can see borders changing color but my desktop stays black, ran sfc /scannow which it found/fixed errors but nothing to do with my issue, rebooted, ran ccleaner, still broken....
View 3 RepliesBelow is the current issue I am experiencing with Windows 10. My computer has been running normally for days after having installed the software, only while booting today have I been experiencing this issue. I have tried doing restarts and fully turning the computer off, nothing seems to work. Also the hidden files do not normally show up on my desktop.
View 9 RepliesI am using Win X Pro. I just noticed that I could not change the desktop background. It says "Some settings are managed by your organisation". I am the only one using this PC and there is no other account. I can change the colours, lock screen and themes.
View 4 RepliesI've gone into the personalizaion menu and clicked the background tab, selected slideshow, selected my folder, chose how often i want the pictures to change and chose my fit and no picture pops up in the background. I've restarted my laptop and still nothing seems to work.
View 2 RepliesThis is complicated.
My colleague has pranked me at work, by somehow fixing my desktop background so that I can't change it.
I'm running W10 32bit home edition.
I've tried gpedit.msc - not available on home version.
I've managed to change it to a solid colour, but i can't change the picture.
On my Windows 10 Home desktop i don't have the option to change colour, desktop background, sound and screen saver.
In the photo below that's what i am missing. [URL] ....
