Apps :: Audio But No Video When Playing DVD
Sep 4, 2015I recently updated to windows 10 and haven't had too many problems, although my Toshiba video player gives me audio but not video when playing dvds. This isn't usually a problem for me unless I'm somewhere that doesn't give me internet access, that's when I'll put on a dvd. My question is how do you fix this? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. The only other thing I can think of is to go back to windows 8, but I don't really want to do that just yet.

Oct 20, 2015I upgraded my HP laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Since then I've noticed a strange problem with the sound. It will cut out without warning--if I'm watching a video on YouTube the sound will cut out midway through but the video keeps playing. Or sometimes the video also freezes. iTunes will not play music or video at all when this happens. Restarting the computer will fix the problem, but it happens almost every day and I'd rather find some way to keep it from happening again.

Nov 6, 2015I'm pretty sure the problem originates from the Windows 10 driver for Intel HD Graphics. In short while playing video the system will occasionally hiccup and freeze for a minute or two and resume like nothing ever happened. The mouse works but keyboard, mouse clicks, touchscreen everything else including CTL ALT DEL are unresponsive. Never had this problem in 7 or windows 8, no errors recorded in the system log.
Majority of the time it occurs when playing video through VLC and through Chrome or Edge, sometimes but rarely it will freeze while in Visual Studio. I think it is a graphics driver problem mainly because Visual Studio would freeze a lot until I turned off graphics hardware acceleration.
Upgraded Media PC From Windows 7 - Crashing While Playing Video
Aug 4, 2015I upgraded my media PC to Windows 10 over the weekend. I had been running Windows 7 using the media centre but I'd tested Team MediaPortal before upgrading so figured it would be ok. Turns out it has been for the most part, but there are two very frustrating things happening. The NVidia display driver keeps stopping responding and restarting. The computer hangs when playing a movie purchased from the Store in the Films and TV app.
I have tinkered with the settings after some searching but it keeps happening. I remember hearing something about how NVidia drivers don't work on Windows 10 but the version that people were saying to install is the version I have installed.
I thought it might be a PC issue as the hardware is a few years old now, but I can watch live TV fine. I have had the display driver crash when I was playing other full screen video (streaming, from a website) too.
BSOD :: Graphic Card Stop Responding While Playing Video?
Sep 22, 2015After upgrading to windows 10, I am facing problem with playing videos. Whenever I try to play videos I get too many "Graphic card has stopped responding" errors. I have downloaded and installed latest AMD driver for windows 10 but still the problem remain unsolved. I think (and hope!) it is software problem because I don't get any errors while playing games like Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition or PES. My laptop is ASUS X550DP(CPU: AMD A10-5750M, GPU: HD 8650M 2GB).

Dec 5, 2015I've been experiencing the same crash repeatedly now, while playing any game(it's happened so far in Rainbow Six Siege, Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3) my screen will randomly lock up and there's always a loud EEEEEEEEEEEEE sound until I shut the PC off manually with the power button.
I've tried checking the event logs and there doesn't seem to be anything in there when the lock happens and the PC is completely unresponsive during the lock.

Customization :: While Video Playing In One Window All Other Windows And Background Turns Black And White
Jan 1, 2016while playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.

Aug 24, 2015I upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.

I think it is KB3124200) I haven't been able to press Enter or Space or any other key for that matter to "slide up" the lock screen photo to get to the password screen. I've looked through the lock screen settings, but I see nothing that could prevent this.

Aug 12, 2015I upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 without a hitch an hour ago and kept all of my personal files and apps. I set up my start menu and everything was working fine, but I wanted to change the image on the logon screen (or whatever you call the screen in between the lock screen and the screen where you enter your PIN/info). So I took a risk and downloaded the 3rd party app here:
[URL] and uploaded an image and hit apply. Of course right after doing that I went to lock my PC to see if it worked, and as you can tell... it didn't.
I've tried rebooting and it hasn't worked. It's just very rapidly flashing between a blue screen w/ a loading circle and my lock screen image.

Aug 12, 2015This might be a stupid question but I havent found a solution for it myself, probably looking in all the wrong places.. would like to be able to have my computer go to the lock screen after an alotted time of inactivity without turning off the screen itself as in the power settings. I usually have screen shutoff/sleep set for longer periods but would like the screen to lock sooner.

Oct 3, 2015I upgraded (free) from 7 to 10 a month ago and all is going well apart from the lock screen. Sometimes when I boot up I see the lock screen for the briefest moment before I get to the regular sign in screen. Win+L does not result in a Lock screen but the regular sign in screen (Blue window and bottom left options).
I have tried the NoLockScreen DWord registry option with no luck either. Both manually and as a 'reg' file insert. Lock screen is set on via settings and I can select Spotlight, background images and apps to show etc.
I do not have Gpedit.msc as I have the Home version of Win 10.
Lock Screen Not Responding
Feb 10, 2016I've been running Windows 10 myself for a few days. My girlfriend for a few weeks/months. We noticed a small something that is not much but is getting on the nerve after a while.
We lock our computer or put them to sleep and when trying to get from the lock screen to the login screen, nothing is happening. We wait a few moment and everything is fine. Here is a few cases...
I'm at the lock screen. Click the mouse or hit a key. Nothing. Try a few times and I get to the login screen.
Another case : From the lock screen, hit a key on the keyboard multiple time and nothing. Click the mouse once and it's ok.
Everything work fine after that and it's no big deal but whe having to do this game a few times each days it's start to get on the nerve. Sometimes it's fine and we get to the login screen right away.
In my case it's a brand new install and in the case of my girlfriend it's an upgrade from 8.1.

Feb 10, 2016This issue has plagued me since I've transitioned to Windows 8 and up. The Lock Screen feature (primarily ctrl + w) gets in the way of using certain programs. I've tried a few methods, all of which either don't work or stopped working.

Is there any other way to disable this feature? It's the only problem I have with this OS. As I've said before, one of the methods worked fine but I feel that an update might have nullified my changes.

BSOD :: Red Screen Crash While Playing Xcom 2
Feb 10, 2016I have been trying to play xcom 2 for the past week and every time during the first 10-30 minutes the game crashes along with the pc and I get a red screen with no text. I have to manually turn off my computer and my pc creates a dump file. This has happened every time except twice when I was able to play the game for over 2 hours straight. My pc was playing games fine, it's just xcom 2 right now. I uploaded my dump files, they are all from when my pc crashed from playing xcom 2 and the first three were red screen crashes the last one was a bsod. I am going to lost everything I have done and checked so far.
-I have turned off just about all of the extra graphical settings there are in the options menu, I even lowered the settings of the game even though my ps specs can handle the game on max settings.
-I tried to validate game files through steam.
-I tried to play in windowed mode and turned off antivirus
-I ran memtest86 (the newest version) for several hours with zero errors and 7 passes.
-I ran stress tests on my cpu and gpu, again no problems there, and if my power supply was able to support my gpu through furmark that means it should isn't faulty correct?
-I ran driver verifier for several hours, no crash.
-I am pretty sure all of my drivers are up to date, should I download driver booster or another software to check that?
Have you heard of these red screen crashes from other people and xcom 2 since it is a new game and it could just have problems? Also windows 10 might be to blame, but there's nothing I can do about that.
Do my dump files say what is causing the crashes?
