i've upgraded to Windows 10 (x64) from Windows 8.1.Using HP Probook 4540s..Before, i used Virtual Machine OK ( with Network: LAN, Wifi). But when Windows upgraded 10, i cannot use Network with any options.Check Device Manager - Driver Network OK.
I've been getting the following error : "The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation" Things I've already done trying to solve the problem:
1) Clean install of Windows 10.
2) Made sure my WiFi network card doesn't go to Sleep, by disabling that option in the Power Management.
3) Have set hosted network mode to allow
4) Made sure that my network with internet access is set to sharing
Additional info: It was working fine untill some random windows update, after which the PC started getting BSOD when trying to host a network. Reinstalling drivers started giving me this error instead of BSOD. Then I rolled back to windows 8.1 and checked again. It was working flawlessly. I assumed it to be a driver problem, so I upgraded to Windows 10 again and this error is back.
I am periodically experiencing an issue where the o button starts typing itself continuously until I either restart or lock the PC. It's not a keyboard issue, since it happens whether the keyboard is plugged in or not, even with a different keyboard.
I haven't yet found a way of triggering it, but once it starts, it happens quite often after each time I stop it.
This seems to be a tedious process of going to the task view, then finding the window and right clicking and sending it to another desktop.
Is there something simpler? I was expecting a right click on the taskbar would give this option, but it does not. Is there a keyboard shortcut perhaps?
Is it possible to have a single application, for example Outlook, appear on multiple virtual desktops? I use different desktops to separate the opened windows for multiple clients. However, something like Outlook would be applicable to all clients.
I downloaded Deus Ex Human Revolution DC, and after beating it, I wanted to go in with a trainer and commit some wanton shenanigans. I'm a simple man like that.
However, the trainer, which worked before, has suddenly refused to work by giving me the "Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine." prompt.
Hyper V is already off and my Antivirus is disabled + Windows Defender. It should be working no problem. Sadly, no.
How to shut off this Virtual machine or fix the problem in some way?
So I dont currently have a USB drive, however I have the ISO files for windows 10. I want to install Windows 10 on a gaming PC im going to build in a few hours. All I got to work with is a 2-Sided USB Cable and a second laptop. Is there any way I can create say a virtual USB drive on my laptop, then mount windows 10 on it and plug that laptop into my new computer to install windows 10?
1- How do you disable the login screen for the MS account? i went to netplwiz and disabled it but it still keeps asking for MS account password every time i open my PC.
2- Is it possible to use a virtual desktop on a 2nd monitor?
in Windows 10 10586 the Virtual Memory window is missing some part of it, check it out:
I want to turn this feature off but I can't because the button to set between the different options is not visible. This visual bug happens in all versions of Windows 10 10586, and it doesn't matter the display resolution. How to fix this visual bug or turn Virtual Memory manually?
Virtual desktops but IMO shouldn't each desktop run an application unaware that another instance might be running on another desktop. The OS itself can keep track of shared storage areas etc so we aren't talking here about running separate virtual machines.
What I'm thinking of as an example is say I'm running EXCEL on VD1 and I'm downloading data from the web. On VD2 I should be able to start another instance of EXCEL and download data from another website.
BOTH applications should still run irrespective of which desktop is the active one. I get the impression that the NON active desktops don't still continue to run processes in the background if they are essentially a "shared process" like EXCEL.
I have a powerful laptop with Windows 10 Pro installed : CPU : i7-4712HQ @2.3GhzRAM : 16 GBVideo : Nvidia GeForce GT 750M
When I switch between virtual desktops the animations are pretty laggy, which it's kinda weird, because on my Surface 3 Pro which is a low weaker than this laptop the animations are very smooth.
PS : Animation is not so slow, but it has some lag. I also have in the Intel and Nvidia Graphics all set up to high performance.
while trying to set up a virtual switch I discover I need to install the 'Hyper-v Extensible Virtual Switch' network protocol to enable the virtual switch manager. I install the protocol and go to enable it to only to get this message:
Ok, fine, I'll play along. After everything was disabled I checked off the Extensible virtual switch only to get this:
I can't enable the virtual switch protocol what so ever.
I've got windows 10 TP on my Hyper-V virtual machine on my Windows 8.1 . The problem is I need to get the VM to get connected to internet so I tried create an external virtual switch, but when I try to create it, it shows me an error -
"failed while adding virtual ethernet swith connections ethernet port {something...} bind failed: catastrophic failure(0*8000FFFF)."
This happens when i assign external network provider as my Realtek RTL8723BE wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC. this is my wireless network adapter.
The switch is created when i assign the external network provider as Realtek PCIe GBE family controller, this is my ethernet adapter, but since there is no internet connection via ethernet, this is of no use to me.
There is no correlation with the timing that I can see, but every now and then all CD drives (Including Virtual Drives) will show up in Win 10 device manager with the ominous "Yellow Triangle" and won't work. I've tried disabling and enabling each individual drive, uninstalling all drivers and rebooting, etc. Then I forget about it for a time, and next thing I know they are working again.
Using Win 10 x64, and this is the only issue I consistently have recurring problems with.
I am using the keyboard shortcut (CNTRL+WIN+arrows) to get to different virtual desktops. But I don't like the slide effect since it kinda makes me dizzy (I have issues with vertigo). Is there a way to just have it "snap" to the different desktops without any sort of transition effect?
one part before installing Windows 10. In creating a virtualbox you will see three lines with the top to fill in with name " Windows 10 Technical Preview " then second line with type --Microsoft Windows and the last one with version -- I wasn't sure which to pick the right operating system of my laptop. Well I do know that my operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium SP-1 64X but see several youtube videos show with Windows 8.1. Am I click with Windows 7.1 in the line. Is that correct.
I've just started using Virtual Desktops on my Windows 10 Pro Laptop & wondered if the layout(s) of apps was preserver through power cycles (Reboots/shutdown & startup, or if they require setting up after each bootup?
Recently i have purchased my brand new hp laptop. in my laptop - Microsoft hosted virtual adapter is missing. how can i get/install/ download Microsoft hosted virtual adapter / Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter?
My laptop touchpad scrolling stopped working this morning after I updated my gpu driver. I went to the packard bell website and looked at the touchpad drivers for my laptop. There is a synaptics one and a elan one.
I have them both installed on my laptop but it still isn't working and there is still no virtual scrolling option in synaptics. These are the options that I have in the synaptics settings:
This is what it should look like:
What do I have to do to get the scroll trackpad feature to work again? P.S, when in device manager, even though there is an ELAN tab in mouse properties, Only the synaptics driver shows up under the mice section in device manager. Does this mean that the synaptics driver is replacing the ELAN and I need them both for the scroll to work.
