View 2 RepliesMy old computer crashed last week and I think I saw it coming, one of the very last things that I did was to back up all the emails and contact addresses from Windows. I cannot find how to restore them on to the new computer, in fact there are very few buttons in the new outlook or whatever it is called.
View 5 RepliesIn case Windows fails to load, can you still enter BIOS in order to change boot device priority etc. Yes or no.
View 9 RepliesI used my Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS to create data file back-ups to an external hard drive. I bought and used the Win 10 Home 64 bit disk to install Win 10. I have copied the " Backup Set" to my C drive, but I can not open any files. Vista was "Backup & Restore"..... Is Restore different from copying?
View 3 RepliesI just re-installed Windows 10. I'd prefer NOT to do that any more than necessary, which includes after a Windows upgrade causes a problem.
SO, I'm trying to set up Windows 10 to make a system image (periodically). It WORKS fine, but instead of just taking the system disk, it's ALSO backing up one of my other disks. I BELIEVE it's because the other disk has a page file on it.
I'm putting the main pagefile on the NON-SYSTEM disk because my system is on an SSD and it's recommended (from what I've read) to minimize keeping things on there that get beat on regularly... BUT, as I understand it, any disk that has a pagefile on it is going to be included in the system image. This is a problem 'cause the non-system disk it's backing up has a couple TERABYTES of images on it along with the pagefile.
SO, can I tell Windows 10 Image backup NOT to mess with the other disk?
OR, do I put a little partition on the other disk just to hold the pagefile?
OR, do I just say, "screw it" and put the whole pagefile on the system SSD?
OR, do I find a 3rd party tool to make a system image?
My computers is crashing when I start up Final Fantasy XIV or World of Warcraft. When it first happen I check the temperature of my GTX 780 graphic card and it was overheating at 90 degrees (surprised) so I downclock the GPU putting a cap of how high the temperature can go. This has made the issue go away for about a month but the issue has return with the temperature under control at 70 degrees. When my computer crash it would most of the time just restart but a few time it gave me the BSOD, sometime the BSOD doesn't complete and freezes.
If the computer doesn't crash during about the first 5 minutes of the game, then it would not crash during the rest of the game session but tend to crash about 80% of the time I start up the game. Right now I am avoiding the crashing by playing the game at lowest setting giving my graphic card temperature at 60 degrees. Can the data you ask me to provide can confirm that the culprit is the graphic card hardware issue that is the culprit or another hardware like the power supply (Corsair Gaming Series 800-Watt ATX/EPS Bronze) that is having issue?
System:
CPU: FX 9590
MB: m5a99fx pro r2.0
GPU: sapphire trix 290x
ram: 16gb
Powersupply: 1000w
So before this setup, I had a fatal1ty fx 990 that would cause random blue screens, I RMA'd my CPU, my motherboard two times, and replaced my ram, ram slots, harddrive, and video cards with a lower end one, but it would still randomly blue screen with a error and sometimes to the hard drive controller or something (I forgot exactly). I attempted to install drivers with the CD, updated drivers from online, etc.
So I decided to replace my MB and got the one I have right now (m5a99fx pro r2.0) And like magic I dont have any more blue screens, instead the computer just locks up, no response and I have to hard reset it with the button... I tried reinstalling windows on a whole new hard drive with only having the same exact issues.
And I checked the registry with it showing me no major errors except that there was a unexpected shutdown.
I recently built my PC straight from the build guide by Austin Evans on YouTube called the 'Neutron 2.0'. I got Windows 10 installed on my PC and it has been working poorly. Whenever I play a game downloaded from Steam, the entire computer will crash at random times, freezing and forcing me to restart the entire computer.
When I go to turn the computer back on it will repeatedly turn on and back off within a second. It will go through this cycle until I have to power down again.
I have downloaded the zip file and after extracting to one of my folders, I am sending the whole folder.
My computer makes humming noise before crashing to a blue screen.
I am very much fed up and am thinking to go back to Win 7 Pro.
This is happening sice i installed windows 10.On windows 8.1 this was not happening.
Every time when i try to update a game, and install something my laptop restarts and it saying "Page fault in nonpaged area"
I know how to fix it.Only instaling and updating games from Steam works.
Whenever I go to the "Settings" app, then click on "Update & security" and then, if I immediately click on "Windows Defender", after a few seconds the app crashes.
View 2 RepliesI've installed windows 10 build 10162 and everything works great except music app, it wont open, redirects me to store where is a button "install again". During instalation store app crashes, theres no error numer. Also I have a problem with msn weather tile, the live tile works only on medium size.
View 2 RepliesI've got a custom built gaming pc which was running windows 7, ran perfectly for around 2 years, got offered the free upgrade to windows 10 so obviously took it..
It was around a month after the install that my computer cut off and restarted on its own, which I thought nothing of, possibly a program crashed and caused a cut-off or something. So that was that, it came back on and it was fine, for another month...
After the 2nd cut out (2 months after upgrade to windows 10) I then took it to my local computer shop, mentioned that its been cutting out ever since upgrade, and they tested the CPU, RAM etc with 3DMARK and results came back fine, and the problem is aswell that it never cut out whilst in their hands.
After being told theres nothing wrong with the hardware, they said to monitor the problem and keep them updated.
6 months down the line...
Cut outs are now happening intermittently, it can be on for 10 mins and cut out, and it can stay on for hours and cut out, but are obviously doing it a lot more frequently than at first. So I decided to try another computer shop to check the hardware, so they disassembled the computer, tested every component, and put it back together, again reported no faults with hardware. They reported that the copy of windows 10 that's installed is corrupted beyond repair, and a fresh install of windows may be required, and they asked for my product key, which after moving house I cannot find for the life of me.
I've had 4 remote access sessions with Microsoft and everything they've tried hasn't worked (one guy downloaded the ISO files and told me to install it myself because he's due for his lunch break !!!!!!
I've tried the in-place upgrade, and after this, my comuter tried to start 3 ties, then came up with an error saying windows is having a problem loading files, so I done the re-install whilst keeping files.
Again this hasn't worked, is there anything else that can be done other than fresh installing windows as I cant find the product key!
Everytime I try to restart or shut down my PC, it always crashes on the shut down screen then I will have to force shut down by holding down the power button..
I'm running my OS on a SSD and it is 100% healthy,
I believe it could be an update that has made it like this, it started when I installed the KB31224200 update.
I'm having a lot of issues with a system I recently assembled. Apps like Word, Outlook and Firefox are randomly crashing, BSODs from time to time, and the PC sometimes crashes directly after sleep-mode.
I've tried the following:
-clean install
-updating bios
-replacing mobo
-replacing psu
-ran memtest; no errors
-removed nvidia card, just onboard graphics; no difference
Since some weeks I am having problems with the Wifi connection of my laptop. My laptop is an Acer Aspire E-15. I have been working with windows 10 for some months and I didn't have any problems. Since some weeks it can't find any WiFi network, and when I plug-in an ethernet cable everything works fine. Also, I have the newest drivers installed. My network adapter is Qualcomm Atheros AR956X
When I restart my PC or do a system restore, everything seems to work fine, until the same problem occurs again. It happens very randomly, for example I didn't have the problem for more than a week, but yesterday I had it all the time. In addition to that, sometimes when I lose the connection my PC crashes. I don't know if these two issues could be related to each other.
how to do this for startmenu ? my start menu crashes when nvidia driver crashes and it wont open. explorer.exe Process - Restart in Windows 10
View 4 RepliesI recently built a new PC, and it contains my old hard drive and a new 2TB hard drive. My old PC had Windows 7 on it. New mobo meant I needed to install Windows 8.I started to have issues right off the bat. Sometimes, it would boot to a black screen, and then would boot fine if I restarted. Windows 10 came out a few weeks later, and I upgraded to that. Now, it will try to boot Windows 8, then Windows 10 right after. It will still regularly boot to a black screen first. Additionally, coming out of hibernation often results in the blue screen CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED error.
So far, I have not been able to find anything useful to fix the problem. I did some things in the command prompt, based on other threads' advice, such as running sfc.exe/scannow and dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. I got Error 87 after running the second one.
I use a retail management software provided by Multiflex. I have used it previously on Windows 8 and it worked fine. Recently I installed the multiflex rms software on Windows 10. I had to change the compatability mode to make it work. Even though I save the settings, after I every restart the software fails to open. Everytime it fails, I have to reinstall it.URL....
View 1 RepliesAfter upgrading from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, msn weather tile shows, opens for a few second and then disappears or crashes.
View 1 RepliesI have migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Since the movement to Windows 10 I am getting a system crash with BLUE screen every time a new Windows 10 update is installed on the system.
Also is this being observed by other Windows 10 users too?
I have bsods and game crashes of steam. I putted a new ram because the previous ram kit died (faulty rams causing bsods)and also I have a new graphic card r9 280 (because the previous gtx480 died too). What can I do? Bumps are not specific. I believed that sound driver causing problems and I disabled sound controller from bios and uninstalled the drivers. Unfortunately bsods don't stop. I have checked for drivers , updates, memtest but nothing. I noted that bsods and crashes happen in the first boot. If I have a bsod or I reboot after a game crash then BSODS and crashes stop to happen.
View 9 RepliesThis is the first issue i have had with windows 10 ever since installing it in august. Ever since yesterday whenever i click on a file in the file explorer window it will gray out and stop working. Unlike the average hang this one will stay grayed out for about 5 to 10 seconds, my screen will go black for about half a second and than everything will be back to normal. I am thinking that this could be a virus but i have run a scan 2 times and nothing showed up. Other than the file explorer not working everything is fine. This is really weird since it only started yesterday and i have never had any issues like this in the 4 years that i have had my computer.
View 1 RepliesEver since I upgraded to W10, I get this problem wherein if I insert a disk in either of my two optical drivers, it would take Windows forever to read them and if I click them before they complete loading, Windows would become unresponsive and Explorer would crash. Mind you, it also happens even if the contents of the disk have already loaded. But even though the contents of the disk have showed, they all have blank white icons.I already tried sfc /scannow and they it reported no issues.
View 1 RepliesMy PC crashes when i play games it always crashes while playing like rocket league, borderlands 2, chivarly medieval warfare, mass effect 2 and alot of other games. When it crashes my screen changes color like green pink red white etc. after that it goes gray and then my PC goes very loud after that it shuts down and then restarts.
View 5 RepliesAbout 6 months or so ago i started having blue screens after months of trying to find out what was wrong i reinstalled windows and installed minimal programs unfortunately i neglected to save the old dumps so these are the only new ones i have I'm trying to make more for more information on them but for now these are all that i have. debug-DESKTOP-6VPVOCB-xxxx.zip
