Jan 28, 2016Is it possible to restore a Windows 10 system image taken from a 60Gb SSD to a new 240gb SSD on the same computer?
I am thinking of using the windows 10 installation USB to boot then repair to recover the image onto the 240Gb SSD.
Would this work? Does partition size affect the new 240Gb SSD?
The system is already licenced for Windows 10 and nothing has changed other than the SSD volume size..
The VERY last resort is to install over again with all programs, tweaks, etc..but, I'd rather not.
Live Tiles Dead When Sized Larger
Jul 30, 2015I set my live tiles up as wide or large, and none were live. Not even Calendar or Mail. I resized them to medium and they all woke up. Even Store and Maps went live.my live tiles are only live when sized medium, they are dead when sized larger.

Aug 13, 2015Just got Windows 10 upgraded (won't go into the insanity that involved). So far it works, nothing to write home about but it runs......
I've largely figured out how to get adequate colors for pieces of windows and such, but:
I'm on large monitors and the icons in the taskbar are miniscule. And YES, they are NOT set to use SMALL icons... I'm looking for a way to get LARGER icons WITHOUT reducing resolution or doing anything else to the displays...
Aero snap is marginally useful, but NOT when you're using multiple monitors. HOW do I make aero snap limit itself to ONE monitor? I DON'T want it to pull windows that are on monitor two onto monitor 1 when I snap a window. I JUST want it to work with the windows on the monitor I snap a window on.
So, how do I customize these couple basic things so Windows 10 is a bit more productive?

Nov 8, 2015For instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.
Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.

I have word 2013, and I would like to insert an indentation 1.5 between the raised number and the text in footnotes (see figure 1)

When I go to "Footnote Text" style, and then paragraph to do the indentation, it moves the number and the text to the right (see figure 2). But I do not want this.

If I use the hanging option, it only indents the texts below the first line (see figure 3)

I have gone to "Footnote Reference" style, but the "paragraph" tab is locked. I cannot enter. How to unlock it? Alternatively, how can I get the results I want (figure 1)....
Folders Displaying Twice
Dec 16, 2015Every window I open, along the left side, under "Quick access", there's a long long list of different places, folders etc.
Is there any way to trim this list? In particular, for some reason C drive, as well as any attached external drives, show up twice each. There doesn't seem to be any way of getting them to remember a default view - the same things appear everytime I open every folder. This didn't happen in Win7. I'm logged in as admin, there are no other accounts
Monitor Not Displaying Anything?
Feb 28, 2016Although my monitor is not displaying anything I can hear fans running, DVD Rom clicking, power supply both lights on. It was working good yesterday,suddenly this morning I started my PC all I can see is a blank screen.

Displaying Limited Access
Oct 4, 2015I am using a D-Link DWA-160 Xtreme Dual Band USB Adapter into a NetGear Router. I have three Win 10 machines connected two of which are just fine. The third is displaying "Limited Access". After doing all the normal substitution things without effect I did a System Restore. I was immediately able to connect for about five minutes and then got "Limited Access" again. I undid the the System Restore and got the same result. Connected as soon as the roll back was completed but then went back to Limited Access.

Sep 14, 2015The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click.

Browser/Email :: Mail App Not Displaying Messages Properly
Aug 10, 2015I just went to use the Mail app in Windows 10 for the first time and noticed that a lot of my emails are being displayed in a weird way, mostly with images. Most notably with youtube emails:
Ex. 1 : (personal info has been 'oranged' out). n entire third of the screen is being used by a single line of text (also some words at the bottom of the email) that should really just be directly beneath the 'YouTube' logo banner.
This problem is exacerbated when the app is made smaller with window mode. Is this just normal for the Mail app, or is there a way to make emails and images display 'correctly'?

Nov 5, 2015My assistant in the other room accidentally unplugged the router and I lost connection. I told her to plug back in. I clicked the correct connection when it appeared, but I did it too soon. From that point on, when I clicked the systray icon, nothing happened...no display of available connections. Over and over I tried clicking the systray icon and no window popped up to show available connections. If I hovered over the icon, it did say connections available..
Then I right-clicked and went into the Network & Sharing Center. I could never find where it showed available connections like in Windows 7.
Finally, I had to reboot and I had my connection back.
If this happens again, where can I find available connections so I don't have to reboot? Or even better, is there a way to get the systray icon to again be responsive?

Nov 1, 2015Since US changed from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time this morning [11/1/15] the times for sunset and sunrise are 1 hour off. The DST times are still displayed. I can't find a setting change that will work.
