Whenever Right Clicking A Folder It Will Not Respond
Dec 22, 2015
So I just realized whenever I click on any folder (desktop or file explorer files) it will not respond then the folder will exit and my monitors turn black then back to normal. I have also searched for a virus but cant find any.
When i try opening a folder, an error pops up. That's because cmd is my default action when double clicking. This all started after installing some Windows 10 updates. how to get rid of cmd on my context menu?
Today,my laptop was awfully slow. When I booted it up it would say "Scanning and repairing D: drive 100%" but this didn't work with anything. When I went to "This PC" to see my D and C drives, my C drive was perfectly fine and it was showing how much GB it has left (___ GB free of ___ GB) but for the D drive it didn't show how much GB it has left. When I try to open it, windows explorer folder would not respond. The green bar which shows your progress of loading the folder (I don't know how to explain) would keep going and even if it reaches the end, D drive wouldn't open. Most of my games were in my D drive and now my laptop is really slow. It takes like 1 minute for chrome to start up.
My computer will not allow me to open anything under the system heading e.g device manager or system protection. I just get a box eventually appear saying "the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".
Whenever my notebook returns from hibernation the menu no longer responds (when I click with the left mouse button anywhere on the taskbar or right in the start menu) nothing happens, but when I right button displays the menu dialogue. What makes me having to reboot the machine.
I've done a clean install, installing driver by driver to be some of them had the problem and all have been installed and not yet figured out what causes the problem in return from hibernation.
I'm using windows 10 home, memory 04GB DDR-3, Intel Core i5 CPU, Intel HD Graphics 3000.
Note: With the windows 7 home premium that was installed before the machine never happened this.
None of the Windows 10 icons work after most recent update. Click on icon to open settings & get nothing. Would it work if Uninstall updates & try reinstalling them?
I have tried to open Edge from all the "short cuts". The splash will show for a moment, then nothing. Also the "Search the web and Windows" box is non resposive. Neither option has worked since upgrade.
A few days ago websites began taking a very long time to load/respond. I was just browsing the internet when it happened (wasn't on any questionable websites). Other computers in our house work fine, so I know it has nothing to do with the router. I pinged a bunch of websites and they are taking anywhere from 1000-1500ms to respond. There were two instances where it only took 40 and 42ms to respond.
Usually the page will act like it's loading, then just stop as if I never clicked on anything. Then five or 10 seconds later whatever I clicked on will pop up in no time. Also, on iTunes when previewing songs I'll get the pop up that says opening url/connecting, then the song may or may not play. I've also had the pop up that says there's no network connecting.
Yesterday while looking thro' my computer i saw an upgrade your facebook to Win 10 sticker,I pressed it and now I cant get any response from the start button the edge button and the store button, the notification button does not respond any more as well. What do I do if I need to install Win 10 again.
Started experiencing this problem like 3 days back. When I click icons on the taskbar (including Cortana, Network, Battery, and Action Center) in Windows 10 Pro Build 10586 , the expected flyout does not open or sometimes it opens too slowly like 2 or 4 minutes after i clicked. Cortana is not at all responsive even after clicking...Start button is working fine right now but seems to have started a bit lag..
So I updated my windows last night I had Windows 7 Before and I upgraded to 10, took about a good hour I used a wireless connection. It finished and it got to the login screen and I was like cool okay, but I noticed the Resolution was too big for my screen, and I try to log in and my Windows 10 Stops responding, then restarts to begin the process all over again. I cannot f8 or switch user or use the power button on the login screen.
It really sucks how they took out the microphone option. It really bothers me how the headset doesn't respond when the mic actually works. It makes me think it is broken or not working. If there is any other way you can restore that.
I upgraded to 10 Home yesterday and everything seemed to work fine. Today after deleting several files from my photos the system hung and I had to do a power off reboot. After that the start menu wont come up and the search window won't accept any text. Right click on the start menu does respond and seems to work properly. I also did a sys. file chk., it said that some files were corrupted and not repairable.
Did the free upgrade from Win8.1 about three weeks ago. When I first did the upgrade everything worked as it should. Left on vacation and came back, the computer wanted to do an update, so I restarted the computer. Now since the update my "Start" button doesn't work. I can right click and a text version pops up. My "Search " line at the bottom is gone as well.
I have tried the adding a new user, but it won't let me. I can get to the point where it asks "family member" or "guest" but when I click on either one nothing happens.
I have also tried both directly in PowerShell and from an elevated CMD prompt
Go to Search and type powershell Right click on the PowerShell icon and select Run as Administrator In PowerShell enter the following key and press Enter: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”} Wait for PowerShell to execute the command (a few errors might show up, ignore them) When everything is finished try to open Start Menu again
Search doesn't work in the right clicked menu, so went through Task Man (and clicked run as Admin) But the command just sits there, I get nothing. Copied and pasted the above text string and when I hit enter I get "deployment operation progress....." it sits there and does nothing after that. How long should I have to wait? When I ran this in Ele. CMD IO let it run for over an hour and it never changed from the original "Deployment progress...." In the PowerShell (admin) I let it run for 15 minutes and nothing.
I also went into Regedit and tried this fix. It didn't do anything either
Method 2: Solve the problem with Registry Editor
If Powershell solution somehow didn’t work for you, you can try to fix your problem with Registry Editor, because your problem maybe lays somewhere in the registry. Here’s what you should do to solve your Start Menu problem with Registry Editor:
Press Windows key and R at the same time and type regedit Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion ImmersiveShellLauncher
Click Edit > New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it UseExperienceDouble-click the newly created item and set the value to 0Click OK, close the Registry Editor and then restart your computer.
I was watching some vids on YouTube and then all the suddenly a msg pops up on my taskbar. I was going to see what it has to say but then the screen all the suddenly starts flashing. I clicked once and it went dark. I put it on hibernation then woke it and I was able to move my cursor but the OS didn't respond. It's ok now but I am afraid of viruses and things like that. The message icon was a triangle with an exclamation mark in it. I am currently running Windows 10 64-bit on a Lenovo T410
I upgraded my lumia 630 to the windows 10.0.12634 (10136) and my settings were gone, I could not find them anywhere and my phone app just does not respond, should I downgrade to windows 8? or what can I do?
on a brand new upgrade from Windows 8, the start icon in the lower left corner does not respond to left button mouse clicks. It does see the mouse over and responds to right button clicks. Also when trying to pin an icon to the taskbar, it does not respond to a right click. The logged in user is an administrator. I have re-booted several times.
When i startup my laptop and click on an app or on windows button it highlights and then whole computer freezes. It doesnt respond to anything and i always have to close it by pressing the power button. It happened after i shut it down with the power button. After that it didnt work.
Have a clean install of W10 and by the day it seems to get slower, if i open this pc or even another folder the progress/search bar takes ages to respond. also some programs cant seem to find relative paths set also takes forever.
i had this problem years ago with vista and cannot think how i solved it.
so far have tried virus scan, indexing on/off, sfc /scannow all to no avail, even though it is my older pc it worked perfect under W7. i only have 20gb on HD and std defender a/v
I was installing win10 on my pc with media create and got to the screen where it asks you for the keyboard layout. The computer does not respond and the hdd light stops blinking. When I kill the power and reboot, the computer loads properly into windows 7 desktop then says that windows 10 could not be installed and says this:
Error 0xC1900101-0x20017. The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation.
I have downloaded Windows 10 as I am sure you all have. When I right-click [on a .jpg] on the desktop it takes ages to bring-up the context menu and invariably does NOT RESPOND [so my task manager tells me]. How do I fix this?
One of my window 10 machine has issues with launching shortcuts (it goes straight to properties) and right clicking the desktop/tray/taskbar doesn't nothing.
