It finished and it got to the login screen and I was like cool okay, but I noticed the Resolution was too big for my screen, and I try to log in and my Windows 10 Stops responding, then restarts to begin the process all over again. I cannot f8 or switch user or use the power button on the login screen.
View 1 RepliesIt really sucks how they took out the microphone option. It really bothers me how the headset doesn't respond when the mic actually works. It makes me think it is broken or not working. If there is any other way you can restore that.

Did the free upgrade from Win8.1 about three weeks ago. When I first did the upgrade everything worked as it should. Left on vacation and came back, the computer wanted to do an update, so I restarted the computer. Now since the update my "Start" button doesn't work. I can right click and a text version pops up. My "Search " line at the bottom is gone as well.
I have tried the adding a new user, but it won't let me. I can get to the point where it asks "family member" or "guest" but when I click on either one nothing happens.
I have also tried both directly in PowerShell and from an elevated CMD prompt
Go to Search and type powershell
Right click on the PowerShell icon and select Run as Administrator
In PowerShell enter the following key and press Enter:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”}
Wait for PowerShell to execute the command (a few errors might show up, ignore them)
When everything is finished try to open Start Menu again
Search doesn't work in the right clicked menu, so went through Task Man (and clicked run as Admin) But the command just sits there, I get nothing. Copied and pasted the above text string and when I hit enter I get "deployment operation progress....." it sits there and does nothing after that. How long should I have to wait? When I ran this in Ele. CMD IO let it run for over an hour and it never changed from the original "Deployment progress...." In the PowerShell (admin) I let it run for 15 minutes and nothing.
I also went into Regedit and tried this fix. It didn't do anything either

I have tried to open Edge from all the "short cuts". The splash will show for a moment, then nothing. Also the "Search the web and Windows" box is non resposive. Neither option has worked since upgrade.
View 2 RepliesOn my desktop, when I run a music app in Windows 10, say Plug radio or Tunein, it stops playing music after a second or two of being minimized. If I maximize, it starts playing again. If I change the volume with the keyboard, and the little pop up window with volume, artist, song info, etc. pops up, it starts playing again, but as soon as it fades away, it stops again.
I checked under Task Manager, and the .exe file for the app suspends when you minimize it, and starts running again when you maximize it.
I have a laptop that I also upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1, and it doesn't do this. I can minimize the same apps and they continue to play. When the desktop was Windows 8.1, I didn't have this problem.
Since a few day when I click on the right lower sound volume/mixer, nothing happens anymore, no popup, no right click menu.

I keep getting screens which say Windows Shell Experience Host along the top over a blank window. I have installed Classic Shell, but these problems occurred before that.
View 1 RepliesI need Windows 10 to boot directly to a program. Whatever I try .vbs, .bat or just shortcut in Startup folder, it always starts minimized to task bar. When I click on the task bar it gets blown up full screen.
Once I turn off the Tablet mode it starts good, maximized.
How can I solve this so it boot in Tablet mode AND start the program in proper size?
NOTE: I use touch screen but I dont think it maters.
As with the right side of my Start Menu, all icons on my user-installed software picks have also disappeared on the "All Apps" menu. And I am unable to make any of the choices a right-click should offer. Nothing happens if a right-click is used, even on Windows supplied menu items. I cannot uninstall, pin to Start Menu or Task Bar, do nothing that should be available. This all worked as advertised until today, about 3 days into using the system.
Combined with the basically poor design of the "All Apps" menu (I know I am not the only person in the world who had Start Menu categories more than on level deep) this is not good. But it is fun searching for the sub-category applications, all glommed together alphabetically. NOT! This inability of the Start Menu to even be stable (Stable-2, at that, for you Apollo Mission fans) is making a roll-back to W7 look better by the hour. Maybe when this nationwide Gamma Test is completed, Windows 10.1 will be released with some of these problems corrected.
I just downloaded Windows 10 and am having issues with: missing pop-up menus; "Edge" & "Store" apps don't run (open with plain blue screens); I can't access Settings (same problem--I get only a plain blue screen); also Word 7 is buggy (i.e. the minimize button is missing when I have a doc open). From reading other threads here, I decided I should run a System File Check in Windows, but when I right click on the Start button (well...where I assume the start button is--all I have is a black square in the lower right corner!) all I get is a tall rectangle box with an arrow, and no text, no menu choices. When I click on the arrow, I get another tall box with no options.I have an HP Touchsmart desktop (would like to give more specifics, but the "my computer" file is gone and I don't know where to find that info in 10 yet). I use Firefox

I'm working in Windows Movie Maker 6.1. I want to lengthen the time of fade in to white and fade out to white. I'm going into Tools > Options > Advanced and increasing the time in Transition Duration to 5 seconds, but it seems to have no effect on new projects. Did I miss a setting? Do I have this wrong--Is "transition duration" different from any effects settings?
View 1 RepliesIn my windows 10 start menu all my installed programs give a white paper (with curled right corner) icon. There are a few that give the original icon but most of them do not. I tried a new clean install but that didn't work.
I also tried:

I even installed classic shell for a while and the the icons are normal! So I think there is something wrong with my start menu. I tried everything I could think of but nothings works. It's annoying to see the wrong icons although when I click them de app opens normally.
What can I do to get the normal icons back?
I'm running Windows 10 and use Google Chrome browser. I have a McAfee security and I have just deactivated the firewall to see if this would resolve the problem.
My Facebook page is unresponsive and blank white. The red icin at the globe suggest I have 4 interaction, and 1 message, I click on this and nothing happens. I've turned off the system, reboot.... still no response.
About a week ago the calculator started opening and then closing instantly so I tried re-registering the windows apps following a guide which used the powershell and running a command. This unfortunately seems to have made the situation worse and I now get @Microsoft.windowsapps.calculator appearing when I search for the calculator in start and the store displays a white icon and does not open. I have attached screenshots of what happens below:

I am getting a message from Norton that Windows Edge Browser doesn't support add ons and therefore I am not protected while surfing the net. It is asking me to switch back to Explorer or Chrome.
View 1 RepliesIn the metro version of IE for Win8.1, you could swipe right to go back to the previous page in the browser. I cannot find any way to do that with either IE or Edge in the just released version of Windows 10.
Is there any way to simply swipe on the page to go to the previous page so that you don't have to go up to the top left corner of the screen and hit the back arrow?
I try to watch a video on YouTube Microsoft Edge crashes and reloads the page. So I can't watch YouTube videos on Microsoft Edge!
View 1 RepliesEdge on rare occasions does not open? I have it pinned to the taskbar and on very, very rare instances nothing opens. It's a very easy remedy, either reboot or quicker still if I go into taskmanager and kill the edge process. Then if I click on the pinned taskbar for edge it opens just fine and happy browsing.
I must re-iterate replicating the issue is tough because it is quite rare. Happened yesterday and before that a couple weeks ago. So I'm thinking it's just an 'Edge' thing that happens from time to time.
Ever since I upgraded my volume button and wifi button are missing the start menu doesn't even pop up and i cant even remove edge from my taskbar... What to do? I'm honestly thinking of reverting.

It doesn't seem to be everything, everywhere, that requires it, but the large majority. It's definitely turned on in settings, haha. I assumed it was just a matter of turning ActiveX Filter off, but I can't seem to find a way to do that.
