I want to restrict certain computers to use only one website as its a POS site but prevent staff from surfing while they are at work. Family Safety in Windows 10 does not seem to work well as sites I have blocked are blocked in Edge but not Internet Explorer (Microsoft cannot explain why). An alternative for Windows 10 or provide a hosts file example that would work?
I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10. I created new Microsoft accounts for my kids and added those accounts to the child accounts in Windows 10. The problem is that the Family Safety screen time that was configured on the Microsoft website are not being enforced on the computer. I have set 2 hour daily timers for the children but they are able to use the computer beyond that 2 hour period.
I'm not sure if this is old news or what but after adding my wife and son to my family in windows 10 they now have access to apps that I have purchased in the store and vice versa. Not sure if its a bug (albeit a beneficial one) or if family sharing is now a thing.
We got our daughter a new PC for xmas which is preloaded with Win10 Home x64.
I have set myself up as the main user (Admin) and also set up a 'family member' account for her to control her activity which has her own seperate login details consisting of her Microsoft email address and a strong password.
Rather than her having to login with her strong password which is quite difficult to remember for a 9yr old, I wanted to set up a 4 digit PIN login instead like I have set up on my Admin account.
I then logged in to her account to set up the PIN login which asks for my parental permission which requires me to login and allow the change.
I am then required to input my credit card details and address to verify I am an adult.
Now the problem is on the address part the screen the country is already set to the USA which requires a State and Zipcode whereas I live in the UK. There is no visible menu to change the country from the US to the UK. (see photo below)
Now my Admin account and my daughters account are both correctly set to the UK as their region with keyboard settings set to the UK also.
I can find no way possible to change the region as the USA locale is already set/grayed out with no menu to change it.
My 15 year old is clever enough to bypass the (new) Family settings controlled Microsoft Account I just set up for him by converting the account to a local account. This seems to let him play as long as he wants, without time restrictions. I didn't get an email about this, or any other notification. This is the second time he has done it.
Why is it so easy to completely bypass all the family safety settings it took me hours(!) to finally get set up?
Also the Family Recent Activity shown on my Microsoft Account web site doesn't seem to update itself. It is at least two or three days behind, perhaps more. How often does Recent Activity update? Is it supposed to be near instantaneous?
I have a Realtek PCIe GBE family controller that is acting very finicky within windows 10. My internet is on and off, and fluctuates a lot, Is there any solutions to the instability in my network? When i run the network diagnostic it says default gateway unavailable, but I have to do this nearly every 4-5 minutes. This is what my computer components are: [URL]
I had 2 adult local accounts and 2 kids local accounts. I also have the 1 Microsoft account.
I don't want to use the Microsoft account signin on my laptop I want to use my local.
Is there a way to assign the existing local kids accounts to family without having to create new ones ? The kids are worried that if I do this they will lose their existing apps/game settings on the local accounts.
have a problem with usb drivers according to my control panel which says it is fixing the issue and then tells me to reboot but it is not fixed. Keyboard lights up on start but when the first blue window appears it goes off. I can get into the bios ok and the keyboard works there. only one port is working (USB3). as my mouse and keyboard are usb and there is no PS2 port i am kinda cactus at the moment. Been searching for usb drivers for win 10 but not having any luck. Everything was working fine since November until yesterday.
just today my touchpad on my Asus laptop was working perfectly and for some reason stopped working. I can move the cursor with it and perform dragging gesture but two finger gestures aren't working, all drivers are installed so i don't know what to do...
My USB hub, an Insten® 7-Port USB Hub with ON / OFF Switch. I got it on amazon, and it worked for a couple months, but it doesn't want to work now. The lights on it are on, but the devices connected don't work. I've tried updating the drivers, and deleting and reinstalling, and restarting my PC, but it still won't work! I use a toshiba click 2
So I just finished building my pic and installing necessary programs. I start up a game and it's veeeery laggy. I think "that's weird" cause I have a MSI GeForce GTX 960 gaming edition. I download MSI afterburner to check if the GPU is there or not. It says nothing about the GPU but only the cpu. The MSI logo light on the GPU is lit. The fans on the GPU are on the first 10 minutes the pc is on then they turn off.
i'm starting the computer like everyday and then can't click the taskbar or anything what i do to fix is CTRL+ALT+DEL and then when i see the system options i can't click anything with my mouse i only can click TAB until it gets to the Cencel tab and then enter. and after i do that fix (so called) when i click right click of something in the taskbar for example Skype i can't do anything i can't close it from there i can't unpin or pin it to the taskbar i can't do anything there
I upgraded last night from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro.I am connecting from work with RDP to my home PC. RDP is Working, but there is no Audio. This is an existing connection that worked yesterday when both PC had Windows 7 on them.I have checked group policy on the server and it allows audio redirection. On client it is setup to bring audio to remote pc as it has always been. Client is with updated rdp client to allow protocol 8.1 with remotefx.I don't have another pc with Windows 10 to check if this is some incompatibility between Windows 7 as a client and Windows 10 as host. I did install the official Microsoft Remote Desktop Client for Android on my phone and tried with it, but the result is the same.
I have just update to w10 from w8 and cannot open the setting button. I can't access any setting even if I look with the search windows. How can I fix it?
I recently upgraded to Windows 10. I soon discovered that my Function key did not work for the majority of keys.I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos. It does not work with brightness, backlight, wifi on/off, fan... etc.The key does work with volume so I know that the key itself isn't the issue.
I have an HP Pavillion laptop that came with windows 8.1, but I have upgraded to windows 10. I upgraded on launch day and everything was fine. I went out and left my computer on, when I came back, my computer was updating in a cool sci-fi looking gui, big percentage sign, categories with their own percentages, etc. Now my taskbar doesn't work.
When I look at my taskbar as I write this, I see (From left to right). My Windows Logo, Cortana's "Ask my anything" and microphone. Task View, giant gap, my steam task menu icon, and my touch keyboard. Nothing but the steam and touch keyboard icons are interactive, and I have several things pinned on my taskbar, like my clock and google chrome. That aren't visible.
I have a 2TB HDD which served as my primary (only) drive, until recently when we added a 500GB SSD. The plan was to use the SSD as the primary drive (C: ) and the HDD as the slave drive (D: ). I have reinstalled Photoshop CS6 onto my SSD and I planned to continue saving my files onto the HDD, however it continues to display this message whenever I try:
I've already tried searching on these forums and tried changing ownership as suggested here: Windows 10: You don't have permission to save in this location..... and here: Owner of Files and Folders - Change in Windows 10 and it seemed to go as they said it would... but I still have the same problem.
Am I able to operate programs through C: and then save them on D: ? I was just trying to make things simpler for me because I'm already confused having so many 'Picture' and 'Document' folders, it's hard to keep track of what's where.
I installed wind 10 in aug 2 days ago my right click in my icons on the bottom wont respond it works every where else I went to windows update and it says I last updated 7/15 but I put win 10 in on aug 30th? Im not sure if windows did something as far as I know I didnt and I have added anything.
I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro. My computer is a desktop, cpu is amd tri core and I have 6Gb of memory. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 my dvd drives have not worked, they worked fine with Windows 7, I have searched the internet for answers, found 2 that I tried but they didn't work.
The first one I tried was to reinstall the drivers, I uninstalled the drivers for both dvd drives and then restated my computer, the last one I tried was a script change to the registry, where you go into regedit and then into HKEY_Local_MachineSystemCurrentControlSetServicesatapi, then you create a folder called Controller0, then you left click and click on NEW and type in, 'EnumDevice1' as 'RegDWORD' and then modify to binary 1 hex, exit regedit and restart your computer.
I also found a script file that I think was suppose to do the same thing if you were uncomfortable editing the registry manually, I down loaded the file double clicked on it and then restarted my computer. They still do not work properly. I am just about to go back to Windows 7, if I can get them to work I'll stay with windows 10. I have reached my wit's end and don't know what to do next
I cant get the win 10 updates to work keep getting this message (We couldn't get online to download your updates. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet.)
I'm talking about pressing <Windows> and typing in a shortcut name that lives in C:Users<name>AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms.
Simply put, it doesn't find the shortcut. And I don't feel like rebuilding the entire index, since I doubt it will solve the problem. This was broken on 7, 8.1, and now 10. You'd think they could index a particular set of files from a particular folder.
I have a problem when trying to reserve windows 10 for my pc. Whenever i click "reserve your free upgrade", the window goes blank and says something went wrong. I have tried to reserve for the past couple of days now but its still doing the same thing.
