Why Windows Spotlight Is Not Available In Lock Screen Settings
Aug 13, 2015I have updated my Windows 10 Pro. But I did not get Windows Spotlight settings in background of lock screen settings.

View 4 RepliesIt seems like my Lock Screen wallpaper is stuck on "Windows Spotlight". When I try to change to "Picture" or "Slideshow" in settings nothing happens, and when i choose "Slideshow" and then "Windows Spotlight" the preview turns grey with the loading indicator and nothing more happens.
Would really like to be able to choose my own lock screen wallpaper, though Spotlight is a pretty cool feature.
On my Surface 3 I've been getting really stunning lock screen photos as part of Windows Spotlight. Much nicer than anything from the Bing photos. I wanted to add that to my desktop but I don't seem to get that choice there in lockscreen settings. Is there a trick to enabling this or it is a Surface 3 feature?
View 11 RepliesI got a new laptop and installed the Facebook app from the Windows Store and it asked me if i wanted to sync my Facebook profile picture and cover photo as the user photo and lock screen picture. I didn't mean to click yes as my cover photo at the time was a stupid one. I've tried uninstalling the Facebook app to make the lock screen picture go away and used the control panel to manually change back to Windows Spotlight. But it still does not change. Whenever i restart my laptop the stupid picture of Ainsley Harriot comes up before the logon screen, but when i lock my laptop it shows the Spotlight. It's weird. I'm new to Windows 10 so i'm unsure what the issue is here.
View 1 RepliesI am currently up to date with all updates for my legal copy of windows 10 pro, I have choosen the windows spotlight feature for my lock screen, however it never activates, I still just get the microsoft glowing blue window screen, any thoughts?
also right below the options for lock screen are options to choose apps for detailed status and apps for quick status, I have also never seen these work anywhere
Windows spotlight under the lock screen settings set a picture for me that I'd like to make permanent. Unfortunately it will change when the new windows spotlight picture is sent out. What is the save location of this image file so I can set it as my permanent lock screen picture?
View 9 RepliesI like the Windows 10 "Spotlight" with its custom photos each day. They really do a great job selecting beautiful photos. However, I've noticed random Store ads popping up, saying things like, "See what's free" or "Explore a marketplace of apps..."
I'd love to disable these ads, while keeping the Spotlight feature of daily photos.
I have already adjusted privacy settings like turning off "Let apps use my advertising ID" and many other Privacy settings. It doesn't seem to affect those lock screen ads. How those can be disabled?
Note I am NOT asking to disable the lock screen (I know already there are ways to do this). I'm asking if there is a way to disable the little text ads that appear on top of the Spotlight images.
When I start up my computer the lock screen shows 2 accounts. One has just my name, which I am trying to remove because it default tries to log into. The second is my microsoft @live account which Ive used from day one. When I go into accounts it shows I have 1 account on this computer, its the one I use @live to sign in. Really confusing and Im not sure that to do.
View 5 RepliesI don't know if I changed a setting or what but I can't get Windows to show me the Lock Screen. I have it like this. I put it in Slideshow with a custom folder where I keep all my wallpapers. is a slideshow lockscreen settings in one side, a normal savescreen setting in another. If I had to set my screen to turn off after a certain time or not. I just want the frickin lockscreen to start whenever, let's say, 30 min have passed. Only thing I get it's my screen turned off.

View 2 RepliesSo I recently downgraded from Win10 to 7 and after everything finished, I can't type in my password or move my mouse! I tried replugging the USBs to no avail and I restarted and booted my pc in safe mode And now I'm stuck on the lock screen in safe mode. How do I fix this?
View 1 RepliesI have windows 10 home edition and everytime I set spotlight from the personalization settings it does not show up on the screen when I log in ...I ve tried it many times ...any fix for this ?
View 2 RepliesI turned on "Windows Spotlight" in my Lockscreen settings (Personalization) for a while but then wanted to go back to selecting my own background image. I can select an image, but a few hours or a day later the windows spotlight images come back again. The selection in Lockscreen still says "Image", but the image has changed to a lockscreen one. If I again select my image, it only holds for a while, then reverts to a spotlight image.
If I could find the Windows Spotlight service or exe or task I would disable/delete it, but I can't find it.
Windows Spotlight isn't working right on my W10 home PC. The image just never cycles. Currently I have a nice image of a light bulb, but it's supposed to cycle to new pictures. On my Surface 3, I actually see new images all the time.
I'm on build 10586.104 (version 1511). I just enrolled in the insider preview ring, but no updates from that yet.
I have some problems with Windows Spotlight feature. Everytime I select this as my lock screen, it seems loading, but ends showing the Windows 10 default lock screen picture. I tried to restart, update, did a clean installation of this Windows build, but nothing solves it.
View 4 RepliesWindows spotlight works when locking the screen from the desktop. but will not show on the lockscreen when booting up.
Steps taking.
refreshed system with deleting everything.
sfc detected no problems
dism no problems.
I have the windows spotlight theme on my lockscreen and i like them. I was wondering if it was possible to somehow get them on my desktop as well?
View 7 RepliesAny way to force Windows Spotlight to use a random image on each startup, as opposed to the default beach cave? I understand from other posts that since the user hasn't yet signed in at that point, it seems to default to that picture. However, using other 3rd party Win10 apps such as [Chameleon][URL] .... and other lock screen changers, I can confirm that they are able to change the lock screen picture on each startup (by doing it in the background while I'm using my pc, and then saving the changes I would assume).
I would assume the "slideshow" lock screen option works in a similar manner. Why is Windows Spotlight unable to do this out of the box, considering if I choose to lock my pc Windows Spotlight shows a new image most of the time. However, at each startup it reverts to the beach photo. I rarely lock my pc, so it seems like a waste.
Is there some setting, Windows app, or registry hack I can use to get the functionality I am describing? I was thinking Windows would store all the Spotlight photos it downloads in a folder somewhere, so I could choose a lock screen "slideshow" of that hidden folder, but it seems there are logos and other files in that folder as well.
I upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.
View 1 RepliesPower & Sleep settings won't save my screen brightness settings. On my plugged in HP laptop default the screen brightness is set to maximum despite making changes in the Power & Sleep menu screen. I've even tried creating my own Power Plan but the next time it restarts it changes to the HP recommended power plan which sets the screen brightness to maximum.
View 1 RepliesSince the latest update (It introduced the slide show of pictures on the lock screen. I think it is KB3124200) I haven't been able to press Enter or Space or any other key for that matter to "slide up" the lock screen photo to get to the password screen. I've looked through the lock screen settings, but I see nothing that could prevent this.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 without a hitch an hour ago and kept all of my personal files and apps. I set up my start menu and everything was working fine, but I wanted to change the image on the logon screen (or whatever you call the screen in between the lock screen and the screen where you enter your PIN/info). So I took a risk and downloaded the 3rd party app here:
[URL] and uploaded an image and hit apply. Of course right after doing that I went to lock my PC to see if it worked, and as you can tell... it didn't.
I've tried rebooting and it hasn't worked. It's just very rapidly flashing between a blue screen w/ a loading circle and my lock screen image.
This might be a stupid question but I havent found a solution for it myself, probably looking in all the wrong places.. would like to be able to have my computer go to the lock screen after an alotted time of inactivity without turning off the screen itself as in the power settings. I usually have screen shutoff/sleep set for longer periods but would like the screen to lock sooner.
View 9 RepliesI upgraded (free) from 7 to 10 a month ago and all is going well apart from the lock screen. Sometimes when I boot up I see the lock screen for the briefest moment before I get to the regular sign in screen. Win+L does not result in a Lock screen but the regular sign in screen (Blue window and bottom left options).
I have tried the NoLockScreen DWord registry option with no luck either. Both manually and as a 'reg' file insert. Lock screen is set on via settings and I can select Spotlight, background images and apps to show etc.
I do not have Gpedit.msc as I have the Home version of Win 10.
I've been running Windows 10 myself for a few days. My girlfriend for a few weeks/months. We noticed a small something that is not much but is getting on the nerve after a while.
We lock our computer or put them to sleep and when trying to get from the lock screen to the login screen, nothing is happening. We wait a few moment and everything is fine. Here is a few cases...
I'm at the lock screen. Click the mouse or hit a key. Nothing. Try a few times and I get to the login screen.
Another case : From the lock screen, hit a key on the keyboard multiple time and nothing. Click the mouse once and it's ok.
Everything work fine after that and it's no big deal but whe having to do this game a few times each days it's start to get on the nerve. Sometimes it's fine and we get to the login screen right away.
In my case it's a brand new install and in the case of my girlfriend it's an upgrade from 8.1.
My lock screen has a notification of a speech bubble with 99+ written next to it. I can't work out what it's referring to.
Please see the attachment:
What this is referring to or how I might be able to find out?
