On my Win 10 Pro X 64 Laptop I go to Internet Options and would like to change the home page but the option to "use current" is grayed out. I use Firefox as my default browser and it opens the home page I want but in Edge I open the page I want to be the home page and the option to change it is grayed out. Everything I have tried this option is never available. So, How do I change this? Get the button to "use current" to be not grayed out?
It's been a while since I have been on here since I haven't had many issues. But, I have ran into an issue with Internet Explorer 11. It won't let me change my home page to Bing and MSN. It says it's already set to Bing and MSN. But whenever I open IE 11, it pulls up my ISP's home page.
I was just wondering if it is possible to keep website as the home page but change the search engine to google? I current have the default homepage where all the news and everything are there as soon as I open edge. but I HATE bing as my search engine and would like to change it to Google search engine but keep the same home page is there anyway to do this?
Is this new on the Bing home page or has it been there for awhile? When you move your mouse on the web page a popup shows telling you about the Pic and a link to more pics.
I loaded the windows 10 upgrade on my HP G60 notebook and now the desktop home page just flashes between blank and showing my desktop icons. I am unable to do anything else with it. I have tried all the shutdowns and reboots but nothing is working. So basically I have a useless laptop that im not too happy about. I should also mention that I was running windows 7
Have run into a wired issue, and I'm not quite sure why. After upgrading to Windows insider build 10565 I am not able to open bing.com as my homepage in either Edge or Internet explorer 11. I can open any other page without issue, but not Bing. If I set google as my home page... first time every time, no problem, set it back to Bing...Can not find requested page pops in after about 30 seconds of trying to connect. Have cleared cache, run DISM diagnostics, nothing reports as an issue. If I set Bing as a Favorite in the favorites bar, open to google as my home page then click the link, it opens without issue, but when set as the home page... How to correct it.
Now it won't open from the favorites link either, same message: This page can't be displayed
Make sure the web address Bing is correct.Look for the page with your search engine. Refresh the page in a few minutes.
If I launch edge it's just displaying the search bar and top visited sites. The news feed / articles are missing in action. Maybe an issue MS side (at least I hope and that it's not my machine). Everything else works fine apart from this so I guess it's more an MS problem than mine
Firefox 43.0.2 and Win 10 ... when use Cortana and speak 'Open Firefox', Firefox starts but does not open at the defined Home Page ... instead starts at a Google search with a search argument of "Open Firefox".
Firefox is defined to be the default browser and after FF starts the Home Page can be accessed by clicking the 'Home page icon'.
When FF is started without using Cortana, the Home page is displayed.
Soon after downloading Windows 10, problems started emerging. Nothing happens when I click on the the icons for home, cortana, connecting to the internet, or power. It is impossible to establish an internet connection, the troubleshooter "couldn't identify the problem". The audio service is also malfunctioning.
I tried to run a recovery, but was unable to do so, as "The Volume Shadow Copy service used by System Restore is not working". I ran sfc/scannow several times, and the result is that it "found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them".
My laptop is indicating that it is connected to my home network and that it has internet access but when I go to the network center it says that it doesn't have any connections. Attaching an ethernet cable doesn't work (which was an earlier problem too) I already updated my drivers and ran the troubleshooter but it didn't work. I also restarted my router so I did most things I can. Side note: It happened really suddenly from one moment to the other...
Since upgrading to Windows 10, why is my computer so slow to open a file, internet page even after doing a reboot, it is so slow and sometimes doesn't even open.
my laptop was delivered in my native language, Dutch. However, I always work in English and prefer that the Display language is also English. My start Menu says " instellingen" and not " Setteings".I followed the instructions added a language in the settings menu Region & Language set the language as defailt, logged out and logged in..Nothing changed Restarting has no result also.Might it be that HOME versions don't have the Change Dipslay Language option?
I am trying to have my computer boot Linux by default, from an external hard drive, while my internal drive has Windows 10 on it. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work: Windows 10 boots automatically at every restart and cold start.
Steps I've taken so far:
The boot order I want is set and saved in BIOS. There's no uEFI on my computer.
Windows 10 fast startup option is disabled. I also disabled the hibernation option just in case.
Still, I can only get Linux to boot by going into BIOS every time and selecting the (already selected) external hard drive again. When I then try to mount the internal (Win 10) disk from within Linux, I get an error saying it cannot be mounted because Windows 10 is still using it.
how to solve this and give full boot control back to BIOS?
I run a business from home with four computers all running win 10. All was smooth and easy going until a recent round of updates where a couple of computers ended up changed from "home network "to "business network", leaving them unable to communicate with other computers on the network. When I found the problem on the first two computers it was easily solved by just changing them back and rebooting. Now the same problem has happened to all of them, but I'm unable to change it, in that every time I do, when I reboot it comes up saying its on a business network again.
Woke up this morning to find that on my desktop the Store keeps saying "Check Your Connection" and prompting me to reload the page. Meanwhile, Cortana can't pull up interests. It's not an actual connectivity issue, since web+email+everything else works just fine (I'm posting from the same computer now). Tried the obvious things, plus a sfc /scannow with no luck. BTW, I'm not using Insider builds, but I tried to move to it just to see if a new build would fix my PC and it says "Something went wrong, we don't know what." Perhaps that issue is connected as well. It's odd, because nothing has changed recently.
there is one thing I do not unmderstand when creating a USB Stick using the Media Creation Tool: I can have both flavors, i.e. x64 and x86 on one Stick, but not Home and Pro, why? I thought this is simply a flag that can be set.
My task: I have to update several PCs with one USB Stick, running former versions of Windows of all kinds, i.e 32 and 64 Bit, but also Home and Pro. Do I really need to create two sticks, one with Home, one with Pro, or can I change that somehow in a configuration file on the stick?
I am the only owner of my computer. And all the proxy options are grayed out.. ! "Some settings are managed by your organization" . I am using Windows 10 Pro.
Have been running Windows 10 on a Packard Bell laptop since August and suddenly the login screen password box is disabled on start up. None of the sign in screen options (power options, language, etc.) are enabled. I can't get to any safe mode boot options either so at the moment I'm stuck.
I have a desktop computer, it was working fine almost a year and now from a few days I am having a serious issue and that is when using my computer (generally or during gaming) it displays an error i.e PAGE_FAULT_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. The screen turns pink and the edges are green (that's probably because of the resolution as I use 3840x2160 so the error kinds of destorts) but that's not the real issue, the main problem is the error itself.
