View 2 RepliesI have upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had problems going into and out of sleep mode which seem have been resolved by installing updates for Intel Graphics. Now I can't get anything to come up when I left click on the Start button. All of the other icons in the task bar will only work with a left click of the mouse, nothing happens with a right click. Also, I did not get Cortana when I upgraded to Windows 10 on this device. I also upgraded another lap top and have Cortana on that one. With all of these problems occurring one after the other, can I reinstall Windows 10?
View 14 RepliesI cannot left click my Start Button, only a right click works, but does not give the same results.
View 15 RepliesUpdated my Win 7 Pro x64 computer last night to Windows 10. Now can't click on the start menu items or really any windows menu. Some other random things won't accept a left click either. Chrome seems to respond just fine but not firefox. I'm puzzled. I have a Razer Naga 2014 but tried a Cheap little logitech mouse with same results. I also logged into my machine Via team viewer from work and left click still doesn't work on things.
I'd be totally fine doing a fresh install but not sure of the procedure yet to have it activate without installing windows 7 first then doing the upgrade again.
I recently upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.0. I have tried reinstalling Synaptics, removing and uninstalling Synaptics, disabling palmcheck, but it wouldn't work. It's annoying when you are playing a game that requires moving while pressing keys on your keyboard. I also have Synaptics 7.5 (19.0.10). The only way I can move my mouse while pressing any key is pressing (any key) + shift.
View 5 RepliesI have an annoying problem. When I move from my secondary LCD to the primary, sometimes the mouse won't cross the threshold unless I move it fast. I read about mouse monitor escape speed from this thread, but after adding the reg key to the control panel/desktop and the edgeui, I still have no luck.
I noticed the thread was old. Is this something where those fixes no longer work in the latest and greatest version of Win10? If so, is there a way to stop it from sticking?
Recently there was an update from windows on windows 8. A problem came about when i realized that every time I spectate in a game or watch some TV series, the graphics starts to lag and becomes jerky. I thought it may be a problem with OS so i upgraded it to windows 10, but the problem still exists.
View 4 RepliesOkay so I had this problem in windows 8.1 but fixed it by turning off smart sense which still has the same function in windows 10 but it did not work. I am looking so find solutions online because this problem is really annoying when it comes to games.
View 9 RepliesAfther installing the intel chipset driver the pc crashed showed a blue screen with large tex saying that the pc run into a problem and is collecting data. Then it turned off and started booting went past the windows booting logo and than showed a black screen with a mouse pointer that constantly changes between loading and busy... you can move the mouse pointer on the black screen and nothing else... I can't boot the laptop and I don't know what to do
View 1 RepliesI'm suffering from PC freezes. It freezes when I'm in windows but not in post. When it freezes my mouse wont move and keys won't register.. so it's just really stuck. I've tried waiting for about an hour but it didn't woke up. It happens really random. While loading a game, watching pictures or idle.. the time interval is very random aswell, couple times a day or once every couple of days. All possible with this freeze.. My current solution is holding down the power button so it shuts down, and then rebooting it. I'm not OC-ed and the pc is about 4~5 years old.
Now I'm wondering if there is a list of things that one would do? I don't really mind doing a lot of extra checking, since I normally don't check my system. A full check would be nice actually. I have tried running mdsched.exe and it showed 0 problems. I'm currently checking my hdd from within windows. (Rmb the partition and select run check) I did not upgrade anything on my pc other then my gpu a couple of years back. But it used to run fine even after the upgrade. The os i'm running, comming from vista pro to 8.0 pro to 8.1 pro to 10 pro could be cause aswell I guess, even tough I did preform a nearly clean install for the win 10.
The reason I want a list of testing programs, tips and tricks is that I can't find a solid list. There must be a certain guideline for finding 90% of the common computer problems? Check hardware first then software?
I have power settings to shut the screen off after 15 min. and put PC to sleep after 20 min. After returning to the PC after more than 20 minutes the PC won't wake up when I move the mouse or type on the keyboard. How do I wake the PC? This only happened since I installed Windows 10.
View 5 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I have a 2 monitor setup. I like to drag/drop windows from one monitor to the other, but Windows 10 has a barrier it seems right in the top corners. If I'm on the left monitor, and I go to drag a window to the right monitor, it will hang in the top right corner of the left monitor and not move, until I move the cursor down slightly, then it'll let me move it. Is there a way to remove that stopgap so I can move windows freely from one monitor to the other without having to go around the top corner?
View 7 RepliesI have had this issue for only a couple of days now. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers for the mouse, sound card, and headset, which still hasn't worked. I've seen other sites talking about an "Intel Technologies Access Services" which isn't showing up in my task manager or services (I'm assuming that's a good thing). I guess I'm just not exactly sure what else to try at this point.
View 5 RepliesWhenever I press the start button I get the Acer logo screen and the loading dots move without a problem. Then I get a black screen for a couple of seconds and then the Acer logo screen again, but this time the loading dots won't move, as if something went wrong, it stays that way (frozen) for a while, after that the windows loading screen appears (nothing written just those moving loading dots) and I finally get the windows lock screen. I don't think this should be happening, it happens both when the fast startup is enabled or disabled.
View 9 RepliesBefore the update to windows 10 this morning I used to be able to right-click and a menu came up with refresh, back, forward, etc...
Now when I right-click the only options are select all, print, inspect element, and view source. The option to right-click and be able to refresh was very useful to me.
The website I'm using is an online electronic medical records website. If I click the refresh button at the top of the screen it takes me back to the homepage, when I really just want to refresh that one patient's chart to see if anything new was entered. It does the same thing when click F5.
I am not getting some notifications on Windows 10. For example, when I plug in my flash drive, there should be a popup dialog like in prior Windows asking how I'd like to use it (i.e. open folder to show files). But that doesn't appear in Windows 10.
However, when I opened the action center notifications icon in the task bar, I saw that the notification for my flash drive actually did appear there. But why did it not appear on the screen? I have app notifications enabled in the settings menu.
Also, very annoying is that when I then click on the notification in the action center, the notifications just disappears instead of allowing me to actually do what I want with it which is "tap to choose what happens with removable drives".
Clicking left on start button should open Cortana and Start Options.
Nothing happens.
There's a hamburger on the top left which will bring up the start menu, Most Used, Recently Added and File Explorer, Settings, etc. At the bottom, Power Symbol and a half hamburger that brings up all Apps.
It does not open the Cortana search.
Don't know what the owner did but all was OK at setup.
my start button not working when I left click. The right click works fine.
I've tried the sfc /scannow on Command Prompt (admin) and the result was nothing detected. I understand that to mean the problem lies elsewhere?
Then I tried the same sort of task typing in powershell, then the following:-
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}
When it was running it came up with 67 'activities not showing' (or something like that!). Looked like they were all apps? The advice was to try the start button when it finished. Nothing. I restarted the laptop, still nothing. I don't know what to try next.
In fact I didn't even know the 'window' on left bottom should show anything. I figured out by right clicking I could turn the computer on/off and just assumed that was the way!! It was only when I had to try to change the 'default' settings so I could open my photos with Windows Viewer that I realised. Then I wanted to change from Bing to Google as default and had to do it in a roundabout way. I have no Microsoft Edge icon either anywhere although when I go to a website through another email it always comes up.
The other thing is that I used to be able to swipe in from right corner to get all my apps. Now I can't. I have a Sony Vaio laptop which had Windows 8.1 and I upgraded to W10 when prompted it was ready for my computer. About 6 weeks ago?
So I recently updated to Windows 10 on my custom built PC (here's the components in case you want to know: [URL] ....) Anyways I like it, but I'm having a few issues with it. Some have to do with my CPU, but the main thing is that Windows Explorer is being very annoying. I almost always put my computer to sleep as opposed to shutting it down because I have a slow HDD.
However, after I put my PC to sleep once or twice I can't click on the Windows button or the "Search the web and Windows button", which means I can't open any applications that aren't on my desktop. It's pretty annoying. If I try to restart Windows Explorer in Task Manager, it never fully restarts. I just get a black screen and the task bar, which still doesn't work. I've had to switch the power button on my computer's task to putting the PC to sleep instead of shutting it down because I can't put my computer to sleep the normal way.
I am using windows 10. I can get on the internet with my chrome browser. When I click on the windows "search the web and windows" icon a message pops up saying it can't get on the web right now.
View 3 RepliesAnother issue I see (on a different Win10 machine) is when i right click the start menu the links that are pointed out in red do not work. all other links work fine. It seems the shortcuts are broken but i looked in the user folders and they are all there. clicking the links in the users folder opens the screens but using the shortcut doesn't seem to work. it's very odd.
This is a Win10 Pro machine.
I have just upgraded from seven to ten. At first things were ok but I no longer have anything on the windows icon with left click. Also the new browser will not start and internet explorer browser icon went away.
View 5 RepliesHad a buddy pick up a laptop (W10 home) (lavono) setting up his web connection WIFI, when I was messing around with things I did a rfi9ght mouse click on the start menu where the other items are, and found it was "white" background with black lettering??
I was wondering how to set this? I have the black background with white lettering (W10 Pro) is this the way it is for the different versions home vs pro, or is there a setting to change this? I'd rather have the background white with black lettering.
Yes I know about the personal settings and the colors thing, and the items to check, but nothing seems to change that one area as far as I can see. There's no white color to choose on my list of colors anyway.
I find myself zooming in and out of pages in chrome a lot and would like to start using the magnifier. I was just wondering if I could make it a whole lot easier based on how frequently I would be using it by being able to bind it to a single, extra mouse button. It would be quite handy if I could turn it on and off with a single button rather than a key combo shortcut, I don't want it on all the time and would most likely be turning it on and off very frequently.
