View 1 RepliesThis is another by-product of the start menu problem. Once finished with major issues I tried to open my pictures. The pictures are not in windows Photo Gallery but directly on my C drive ie: C:/users/ottilitgirl/Pat's Pictures/Christmas 2014. The pictures do not open and I get this message "This action only valid for products that are currently installed".I just tried again. Today I get the thumbnails but when I try to open them the message is "invalid value for registry"
View 4 RepliesI've been using windows 8 since it was about a month old, and this always worked this way for me, if I am in file explorer looking at pictures and i open one, a window opens for the image viewer then if i go back to the file explorer and click another picture it will open in the same window that the other picture was in.
now when i upgraded to windows 10 it made me use the new win10 photo viewer, it was ok but it always opened pics in a new window. so i found out you could use the old win8 photo viewer in win 10 so i did that, but it still opens in a new window every time.
is there any way to make each picture open in the same window like it did in windows 8?
I'm getting this error: ... when I try to open any picture (jpeg, gif).
I have followed different forum topics for solutions and so far I:
- Double checked that RPC service is running & on automatic. RPC Locator is not started & on manual
- Previously had some issues with opencl.dll being corrupted, but following Kyhi's suggestions here: Error DISM restorehealth - Windows 10 Forums
.. I managed to fix it (as you can see from the screenshot, the sfc shows no errors anymore)
In the event viewer I get these:
Activation of app Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The remote procedure call failed. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.
[Code] ...
... when I try to open a jpeg file.
Quite often (60% of the time) clicking on Windows Explorer results in no action whether from the tool bar or from the Windows screen for a very long period of time. There is nothing showing to determine if there is a background program causing Explorer to wait. When it eventually opens, more than one screen comes up because the impatient among us have clicked more than once (personal problem). I often start by going to Explorer for a file I was working on so this is a real pain.
View 2 RepliesHow do I save pictures on Windows 10? My mouse does not have a right click on this system.
View 9 RepliesAfter a recent update or something, on the top right of all my photo's (no matter what folder), there is two large blue arrows, pointing at each other. I have tried clicking, and right-clicking and I can't find any use for them.
View 4 RepliesAll the picture/images I created or downloaded in Windows 7 are unreadable in Windows 10 (or in Windows 8). When I try to open them in Windows 10 or in an image viewer app in Windows 10 I get an "Unknown Format". how I can properly access them in Windows 10 Pro?
View 3 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10, I have found are no pictures on the Amazon UK web site ( and Amazon.com). only icons with" x "where there normally pictures normally are. This applies equally whether using Chrome, Edge or Firefox. I have explored "settings" but cannot find anything that would preclude images being shown, My netbook using Windows 7 does not have any problems displaying the images.
View 2 RepliesI cannot see or view any of my pictures. I click on a folder and it tells me its empty. When I click on properties, its obvious by the size of the file, that its still there.
View 2 RepliesWhen I wish to view my pictures, some stay up while others will only stay up for about 5 or 6 seconds.
I was advised to change the settings in the defaulting pictures properties; but they are all the same settings for those that stay open and those that don’t.
I am the owner of computer and only admin but cant save pics to a folder that I already had before install
View 1 RepliesI have the newest Asus with windows 10, and the pictures are blurry, and almost look like that yave some weird effect on it, but there is not.

View 2 RepliesI used XP for almost fourteen years without a problem. Now that I have windows10 I haven't been able to add pictures to exist8ing cd's. No problems with data or music. I also cannot view the picture CD's. I double click burn to disc but nothing happens. I get a list but no way to view it. I get a notice, these files are ready....etc. but when I click on a folder to transfer new contents...nothing happens. I'm at a loss on how to procede.
View 9 RepliesMy upgrade (laptop) went smoothly. However, a friend upgraded her computer and said her pictures are lost. I tried talking her through searching for them, and she said the ones that appear are 0 bytes in size. Of course, she should have backed up her files beforehand, but she's past that point.
If she rolls back to 7, might she get her pix back? If she rolls back to 7, can she reupgrade to 10?
I downloaded pictures form my digital camera, or at least I was trying to do. Somehow I got form installing my camera driver, recognizing my camera to importing the pictures form my windows 7 migration to Windows 10 and all of my camera pictures. They went to "albums" I lost them for a little while but found them again through notifications in the action center. I closed the display and now I can't find them.
I want to accomplish two things. Find out where my pictures went, then get my pictures moved out of albums, and stored back on the computer where they belong!
How do I import pictures from an SD card
View 1 RepliesFor some reason, my picture folder is in "Quick Access" pinned. When I go into the properties of the Photos folder that is pinned in "Quick Access", I look at the locations tab and it says it's in my User Folder. Though it does not appear inside of the User Folder, whereas Documents, Music, Downloads, and Videos folders are. I've unchecked "Hidden Items" and it's still not there. Now, if I type in the directory manually it opens as if it's there. On the left pane in the Windows Explorer where "This PC" is at, I have two Documents. One has the regular icon, the other has a picture icon. When I click on either of them, they take me to the Documents folder.
As you can see below somewhat of my predicament. How to get my pictures folder back to normal in "This PC" and my User Folder.
I have just realized my Documents folder icon inside the User Folder has the "One Drive" icon. I am not sure as to why that is as I've disabled One Drive completely on my computer. Extremely frustrating.
I deleted the "Documents" folder that has the Pictures folder icon and it deleted my actual Documents folder as well.
I am having trouble saving pictures to my "Pictures" folder. I right click on the picture sent to me via e-mail, Facebook, etc I click "Save Link As". I rename the picture and try to save it to my "Pictures" Folder. It says that I do not have permission to save to that folder so I have to save it to "Documents". What is going on? Why can I not save it to my "Pictures" Folder? I have saved a lot of pictures to it before. Why do I not have permission? It is my computer. How do I give myself permission to save it to my "Pictures" folder?
View 9 RepliesStart, right click, Control Panel, Hardware and Devices: my camera (Nikon D7000) comes up. Import pictures fails. The error message says: 'no pictures or videos were found on this device'. Did the same thing on my Windows 7 machine (good thing its not yet upgraded). It correctly found 58 pictures and imported them.
View 9 RepliesI can not locate my pictures from Windows Live Photo Gallery since I installed Windows 10.
View 4 RepliesInstalled Windows 10, thought it would integrate everything I already had on the pc. Since installing, cannot find any of my hundreds of documents and pictures. What do I do now?
Also thought to uninstall, hoping to regain what I lost. Went to "Start", "Settings", "Update and Security", then "Recovery" as instructed. Was supposed to have a question; "Restore to Windows 7?" No question posted - I have Vista on this computer.
Frustrated and really upset that I have lost important and unrecoverable documents and pictures.
I've searched around for an answer to this but I couldn't find anything. Does the People App in Windows 10 bring in profile pictures from Facebook? This worked great in Windows 8.1 and all the mobile versions (even WP10 preview) but for some reason all my contacts in the People App have blank pictures and I'm not sure how to get this fixed. I have the Facebook app installed but I'm not sure if there is anything else I need to do. It's annoying seeing all the blank pictures.
View 9 RepliesI read your article, really, I'm still struggling with windows 10. I cannot import my pics! it finds all the pictures, but I don't get the "start importing?" message!
