View 2 RepliesJust downloaded the new "free" Windows 10 and found that I cannot play videos or DVD's. Had Windows 8.1 previously and was able to find a fix but no luck so far. I don't want to spend $99.99 on Windows Pro which is what Microsoft says is what I need to do.
View 1 RepliesI just installed windows 10 but i can't work out how to play a dvd of home movies.
View 2 RepliesI've tried several DVD's. They all work in my MBP and Mac Mini without issue. The DVD's are not showing up in Windows Media Player and I even tried VLC player and they didn't play. I have a bunch of store-bought movies that I've been experimenting with so this isn't like I burned a DVD and did it wrong. Specifically, I attached a PC to the TV so that my SO can watch workout/yoga videos. The DVD's show up in Explorer and I can browse the files on them but not play them.
View 3 RepliesI used to be able to play them....doesn't work in YouTube or anything
View 1 RepliesSince installing win 10 I can no longer play video's on youtube, tried using ms edge and fire fox, youtube worked perfect until the install.
View 3 RepliesHow to make it do that? Normally I can see the setup.exe file but can't on this cd.
View 1 RepliesThe disk drive is physically working and connected properly to the motherboard. I can open it, put in a disk, see the light flashing and hear it humming. But cds/dvds do not run despite autoplay being enabled. There is no icon for the drive in explorer, but it does appear in device manager as SlimType DVD A DS8A5SH (double listing).
Worked when I had Winblows 7 : Sometimes works edition.
Specs : Gateway Laptop + Winblows 10 64 bit
I have an issue I can't seem to find decent info about. My Win 10 laptop won't see files and folders on DVDs I burned on another box unless I make an ISO on the Win 7 machine first, and then copy it over to the Win 10 machine and "mount" the ISO.
I even tried creating an ISO from an older DVD and then burning it to a new DVD with my Win 10 machine. I still can't use File Explorer on the new DVD. It seems Win 10 on this box won't "see" the files & folders on the DVDs unless the original DVD was burned on this machine. If it is originally burned here, then it works fine. The DVDs I burned on my other laptop using Win 7 can't be "explored" like they used to be on Win 7 and 8.
This isn't an issue with the DVD drive. I've pretty much ruled out drivers, hardware, etc. The drive works fine for everything else. Win 10 recognizes the drive just fine and I can use the drive to create ISOs, burn discs, etc. It just won't "explore" DVDs I made somewhere else - at least not directly from the disc.
I used to do a lot of DVD creating and editing with Win 7 & 8. The processes I've been using are significantly hampered with Win 10. It appears I'm gonna need to get "creative" with my current DVD editing & creation processes.
Since I upgraded to windows10 I am unable to watch movies from a DVD. I can read other kinds of disks just fine, just not movies. For instance, I wanted to watch the sixth Harry Potter movie. So I enter my DVD but my laptop just says there is no disk entered. I thought there was something wrong with my DVD at first. But it works fine in all other devices I have at home. So then I thought the problem must be my disk drive. But then I inserted the bonus DVD of the movie, and this one worked fine. WHAT? How is this even possible, both are DVD's, just the bonus disk doesn't have a movie on it. I tried this with all the harry potter movies we have at home and the same occurred each time, the movie DVD does not work but the bonus DVD (with behind the scenes and whatever) works fine. I have searched all over the internet and haven't found a solution. The only thing I find is people of which their Disk Drive isn't found anymore. But this is not my problem.
P.S.: It's a laptop, the details can be found on my profile I believe. And I wasn't really sure in which thread I should post this. As it isn't really a hardware problem, I don't think it's a driver problem (my pc says drivers are up to date) so I assumed it must be a software problem.
I've been getting the BSOD with the error message KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (no numeric error code) and have tried to fix myself but with no success. I've attempted to manually update drivers, this appears to make no difference. The BSOD has been happening when I try and burn large files to dvd using the share - burn to disc feature in file explorer. I've read that this particular BSOD can be memory related so was suspecting that, it seems although the computer gets a little overwhelmed then BOOM, BSOD appears.
View 3 RepliesSystem that doesn't use the disc drive for dvd's or video disc format is wrong - taking away something that now, you have to pay for. Do the wright thing Microsoft and reinstate the disc media player.
View 2 RepliesHow do I play a DVD in Windows 10
Do I have to purchase a media player or can I do it for Free?
I can't play dvd (not very good with computers) on windows 10, what can I do?
View 5 RepliesWorked fine yesterday and now today any browser that tries to load a video freezes. Any video I try to start with media player or VLC just starts to load up and stops, nothing happens. Have been searching for fixes, Cleared internet history cache, checked in control panel for video options .No clue how to try reinstalling flash to see if that is the problem because its built into windows 10.
View 9 RepliesEver since I downloaded Windows 10 I am having nothing but trouble. I try to watch video's and they keep breaking up and run real slow, thats after it takes so long to get it up to even look at. Its telling me something about Ad block stopping it, but I tried to fix that but not sure what I did.
View 15 RepliesI'm trying to play a .swf file for school and get an error message that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel."
View 2 RepliesWhat software I can use to play a .dxa file??? I believe it's security footage.
View 1 RepliesI load a pc game from disk or on steam, I lose the mouse pointer, so cannot play. This happens on windows 7 and 10. My system is as follows: Intel i5 Cpu at 3.1 ghz, Amd Radeon HD7770 graphics card, 12 Gb ram, currently windows 10. When I move the mouse, it seems to be running behind the video, since icons on the game light up as it passes.
View 1 RepliesI bought a DVD from Amazon. When I click the DVD drive, it opens a folder with a bunch of files that cannot be opened, When I right click it and press open autoplay I get a message telling me to download a dvd player from the store.
View 1 RepliesI am aware that windows 10 (I am used to Windows 7) will not negatively play MPG files. I know this is a side effect of the codec being ripped out to prevent DVD playback via Media Player. The annoying thing is I have quite a few family MPG files mainly from our ageing Sony Camcorder on my system. Luckily I have Cyberlink Media Show pre installed that can play the files within it's own software and the media suite (espresso) can convert said files to other formats.
However, converting takes time and it is frustrating that media player 12 won't do the job and Windows Explorer won't display these MPG files with the handy thumbnail within file explorer viewing. Given that I am a little distrustful of codec packs and all my other files such as MP4, WMV etc etc play well I am looking for a solution that maybe just allows windows explorer to display the thumbnails and as an added bonus Media Player can once again play them. It does seem draconian that MS stifled a common playback format such as MPG in the last 2 windows and a major backwards step. I know I could download something like VLC or Media Player Classic but it seems pointless seeing as I have software that can already play them.
I tried K Lite Codec Pack a while back but hated the effect it had that I uninstalled. It was causing thumbnails to constantly refresh everytime I opened a folder. So is there a way of slipping in a single codec only related to MPG files without risk of unsettling all the other stuff that works well? Many of the codec packs seem to have the unpleasant side effect of slipping in extra installations and seem very dodgy and capable of causing grief.
Windows 10 does not play the videos from newsbin. They are avi, mp4, wmv and.rar type files.
View 1 RepliesWhen I changed to Windows 10, my Cubis game will not play. Also some videos on facebook and others.I went back to the old Windows and they play. I just upgraded to Windows 10 again, and the same is happening. How can I get the game and videos to play?
