View 1 RepliesSpent the best part of a day fixing my PC after a W10 upgrade this morning. All seems to be working well now except that I have an issue with a couple of Metro apps - those named in the title. What happens is that the apps open and then automatically close themselves after about a second. The main Store app opens fine as do all other Metro apps. Its just these two..
View 2 RepliesMy assistant in the other room accidentally unplugged the router and I lost connection. I told her to plug back in. I clicked the correct connection when it appeared, but I did it too soon. From that point on, when I clicked the systray icon, nothing happened...no display of available connections. Over and over I tried clicking the systray icon and no window popped up to show available connections. If I hovered over the icon, it did say connections available..
Then I right-clicked and went into the Network & Sharing Center. I could never find where it showed available connections like in Windows 7.
Finally, I had to reboot and I had my connection back.
If this happens again, where can I find available connections so I don't have to reboot? Or even better, is there a way to get the systray icon to again be responsive?
At the far bottom left corner of the desktop resides the Windows 10 logo. It is suppose to open to a menu of 3rd party apps and Windows functions.
When I click the icon with a mouse, the menu screen opens for a split second and the immediately closes. This does not allow me enough time to open any 3rd party program on the menu or to employ any of the listed Windows 10 apps.
This also means that I do not have time to click on restart or power down and must do a hard shut down pressing the power button on the computer case.
I've been having problems with Internet speed variations recently. Today I had a Tech from my ISP here to look at the problem and he discovered that immediately after boot I have over 50 active sessions open on my PC, even before I open a browser window. This machine has Norton Security installed and active and I've recently run Norton Eraser As Well as Malwarebytes and neither of them have found anything significant while scanning.
what could because of these sessions to open?
I've been noticing that my Internet speed has become very erratic and overall greatly reduced recently. This afternoon I had a tech from my ISP, and investigate the problem he found that for some reason my computer is a large number of Active Sessions immediately after I boot up endless gift is worth by the time I open a browser session. The computer is secured by Norton Security and I have recently run Norton Eraser As Well as Malwarebytes. None of these found any problems.
What would be causing the excessive active sessions to be open? I'm talking some more the neighborhood of 50 of them are openly immediately after booting!
I've had no response to my previous query. But must ask this again as it is very annoying. I have a radio site on my desktop that I listen to. Now when I want to go to another URL address that particular link will not open up. I. E. I want to open [URL]. The only way I can access it (while my radio link is on) is to exit my radio link then click on the URL link for Ancestry.com. It is not the only link that will not work while I already have one other open, all other links will not open also.
View 2 RepliesWhen my computer sleeps or hibernates all the open programs close. When I wake up the computer, I have to recover or restore everything I was working on before. Very annoying. I have checked all the power settings and everything appears to be right, but this problems persists.
Drivers are all up to date, but it has always done this since new in June. I'm just getting around to trying to find a solution.

View 5 RepliesWhen rebooted this issue does not happen. After some time, if I open the hidden systray menu, most of them will disappear as I mouse over them. I do not know if it is triggered by opening a program, a background program, time, or whatever.
View 4 RepliesMake an APP start at boot no splash screen in systray, I don't mind editing my registry as i have done for many other reasons in the past...
View 4 RepliesStart button ceasing to work? I can't access many programs that I don't have as desktop shortcuts. None of the notification icons in the systray activate, so I can't access the notify center or change my wireless signal. I've seen this answered on many other forums, but none of the fixes seem to work for me.
View 3 RepliesThe settings window will not open when I click on the icon either in start-up, apps or "This PC" what's the problem is it an installation fault or something I'm not doing correctly? I can access device manager etc. and all the other Icons I've so far tried.
View 3 RepliesAll the app icons have disappeared from my desktop, as well as task bar and file Explorer. Where the icon should be is just a blank (but clickable) space.
I tried to manually alter the app icon by right clicking and going into properties, but no properties will open!
On windows 10, I click an icon on the desktop but itonly returns to the desktop and will not open...
View 1 RepliesI have the latest version of iTunes pinned to my taskbar and whenever I open iTunes, it creates a new icon next to it.
I have had this problem recently on Windows 7, however I fixed it by pinning the 'open' iTunes icon to the taskbar and unpinning the 'closed' one. I updated to Windows 10 and this was not an issue. HOWEVER, now I've purchased a new computer and the problem is persisting BUT this time on my new computer, it doesn't give me the option to pin the 'open' icon. So in other words, if I pin/unpin one of the open OR closed icons, the command will happen to both icons.
I've been running Windows 10 since last August, after upgrading from Win 8.1 on my Asus laptop.
I use the taskbar (launchbar?) to start my favourite programs, such as Excel, and some 8-10 files are stacked on the icon so I can right-click the icon and select/open my desired file.
That was until approximately 10 days ago, when clicking on a file name only opened Excel, and I have to do a file/open within Excel to get the file I want open. Other programs that are also on the bar e.g. my PDF program, still opens the file name I click on.
My laptop pulled down the latest Technology Preview a few days ago and now my Wi-Fi is totally messed up. I cannot even open the network settings from the task bar icon.
View 1 RepliesI own an acer aspire e5-551 and whenever I've been charging and unplug the power cord to run in battery power my laptop freezes. Also, whenever I try to boot on battery power, my laptop freezes almost immediately after I log in.
View 9 RepliesI'm getting a blue screen advising "ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY" a couple of seconds after my computer wakes from sleep mode. It's not sporadic as it happens every time.
I've downloaded the log collector and attached the ZIP file to this post. First time poster so I hope I've done it correctly!
All my apps open momentarily and then close. The only exception seems to be the browsers. I can go through file explorer and open the files that way, but not by clicking on the desktop app boxes.
View 2 RepliesI have 2 windows 10 Laptops. Both upgraded from Win 7 Pro. The first one I did from a CD, (Had to buy a copy of win 10)
The thing rocked for a few days with Win10 and everything was great. Very fast and after some figuring out where everything went, it was fine. UNTIL, an update got applied to either Chrome or Win10 and now Chrome Crashes immediately on opening. Even when trying to uninstall it. Have to go to safe mode to uninstall it. Tried Canary and still same result, Crash, Just chrome nothing else and no BSOD. All the other browsers work just fine, but I've kind of become attached to Chrome. BTW the second laptop I just upgraded the other night is still working just fine.
I have an icon on my desktop {HuniePop_v1.2.0_setup} that I cannot delete. Any time I select it {whether in File Explorer or on the actual desktop} it locks up the Windows Explorer process. More often than not, the process will go into 'not responding' and self-restart, but on occasion I'll have to hard-reset due to my inability to run anything from CMD to the Run window.
I've tried just about everything I can think of to remove this. I've tried the traditional ways {right click, delete}, I've tried system restore, I've tried safe-mode, I've got nothing left.
Any way before I completely reformat?
After upgrade from windows 7 everything works properly. After o while it was not possible to open the START MENY by left click the windows 10 icon in the lower left corner. Right click works ok. What is the reason to that?
View 1 RepliesSo when I run novaroma.exe(program to download tvsieries) after double click I see from task manager that crash in 2sec. the curious is that when I install it run . but after first restart this problem appears.

When i click on the Store, it opens, but crashes immediately after half a second. I watched various videos on YouTube looking for "the cure", but none of it worked (like PowerShell, than cmd where I typed "sfc scannow", etc.)
