Oct 13, 2014I'll first describe my LANs network environment. Three Windows PCs and one Linux PC. Each PC is sharing one folder called TEMP.
The PCs:
WIN10 - Windows 10 TP (non-enterprise edition)
WINXP - Windows XP Pro SP3
WINXP0 - Windows XP Home SP3
CENTOS - CentOS 6.5
Using NetBIOS over TCP/IP on each PCs for name and IP address resolution
No hosts file contains the names of the LANs PCs
The Computer Browser service is active on WIN10
The Computer Browser service is disabled on all the other Windows PCs
Samba services on CENTOS is on but the master browser in the WIN10 PC
Firewalls on all PCs is off except for WIN10 but the rules allow file/printer service through The same primary user account is used to logon to each PC No HomeGroup networking used. All PCs are in the same workgroup=LANSYS
Now with all that stated, I'll describe the problem. From WIN10, I can see the list of PCs in the workgroup and access the shared folder TEMP on each PC
From WINXP, I cannot see the list of PCs in the workgroup and can only access the shared folder TEMP on the other PCs when I use the IP address of those PCs in either My Network Places, Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer. I always receive the "Workgroup not accessible ...." popup window when attempting to view LANSYS from My Network Places.
From WINXP0, it's the same as WINXP
From CENTOS, in order to see shares I use the smbclient command. When I execute the command for WIN10, the command fails and reports that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is disabled on WIN10
But NetBIOS has to working on the LAN because I can ping each PC from any PC. I executed ipconfig/all on each Windows PC and it displays NetBIOS is enabled.
So it appears that NetBIOS Sessions service over port 139 inbound traffic on WIN10 is either buggy, crippled, or broken.

I tried 3 different ways manually via command prompt and via windows devices system and force start automatically but nothing. it cant start. Some messages i got trying to fix it it was there are no resources for this operation!

Feb 16, 2016I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10. My previous laptop had Windows 7 and worked very well with my Brother MFC-J475DW Wireless Printer. I tried installing the driver for the printer from the original disk that came with the printer on the W10 laptop several times and kept getting a message that there is no printer. I went to the Brother website and downloaded the latest version of the driver and still get the same message. After some research I tried for the "built in" drivers, but with no success.

Aug 17, 2015I upgrades to Win 10 the the above network/wireless printer worked fine. I've now done a fresh install and it doesn't!
The scanning function works but trying to print produces an error. I've been advised by Samsung support that their driver doesn't support Win 10 and that they don't know when a new version will be released. They said it would still function under the upgrade as it still had access to the old Win 7 drivers there.
Any way of making the Win 7 drivers available on a fresh Win 10 install?

Jan 13, 2016I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 a few months ago. Yesterday the disc drive stopped working. I put in a disc I had made which contained various data, mostly text. When I clicked the D recovery drive nothing happened. In the past I would see a list of the videos on the disk and by clicking one of the items I could play it on Movies and TV. Now that doesn't work. I can play videos that I've downloaded and are in my videos file, but not videos from the disc drive. I have an HP Pavilion slimline desktop computer.

Feb 11, 2015I've been attempting to use applications like Teamspeak or Google Hangouts, but whenever I try to use the built-in microphone on my laptop, it doesn't work. It did work when I was using Windows 8.1. The "update driver" button only says that it's up to date.
EDIT: I have also found that the microphone appears to be turning on and off, stopping any audio when it's on.

Jul 30, 2015I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.
However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)

Aug 28, 2015I have a multifunction HP C5280 printer connected via USB to my router that has a built in printer server and it's a couple of days I can't print through it from my laptop anymore (but I still can print from my smartphone as always).
The problem started when I removed the device from control panel to try installing the latest driver downloaded from the HP website, because I wasn't able to scan from it, but at least I still could print. Since then, even if the printer appears as ready, Windows doesn't even send documents to the spooler: the printer icon appears on the taskbar but it just says "0 document(s) pending".
Additional informations: I already uninstalled the downloaded new driver and installed back the previous working one and it's not a spooler problem since I can print if I directly connect the printer through the laptop USB.

Aug 14, 2015The Stylus Pro 7600 is now a really old printer, the last supported driver was for XP but it worked in Windows 7 and I believe to some extent in 8 although I never did try it.
It s a really good reliable large format printer though and very affordable in parts, ink and the second-hand purchase price.
However alas Windows 10 doesn't like it, I did the upgrade to 10 (and then the downgrade) from windows 7 but it will not see the driver it sees the device but calls it a USB high speed device or something like that and compatibility mode didn't seem to work.
So unless there is a clever work around and I'd love that to happen I'm stuck on Windows 7 for the duration.

Jan 26, 2016The issue is I have a network printer selected as the default in Windows 10. I have the option "Let Windows manage my default printer" turned off. At one point randomly, the default printer goes back to the Adobe PDF as the default.
Steps taken:
* I have checked the registry settings to ensure that the options "let Windows manage my default printer" is switched off. I can confirm this.
* Switched the default printer back to the network printer and performed a reboot. The network printer remains as the default. At some point of the day it goes back to Adobe PDF.

The printer still works but I can not scan. I tried doing the command prompt "SFC /scannow" but the system could not find any problems.

Start Menu Doesn't Appear - Windows Key Doesn't Work
Aug 25, 2015Updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two weeks ago.
Had problems with Firefox. Tried to download to replace existing Firefox. CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download. But.
- The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon, but if I right-click, a text menu does appear and lets me, for example, shut down.
.- If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar, the screen flashes but End does not come up. Ditto for the Windows Store icon.
- Somewhere SpyBot S&D was erased, but I was able to download it.
- If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer, I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry. If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo.
- Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page, though Pale Moon and Opera can.
- I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans, they find no issues.

Jan 26, 2016Upgraded a client's Windows 8.1 machine to Windows 10 Pro today and it's now unable to "see" the HP OfficeJet 6600 wireless printer directly behind it. I've assigned the printer a static IP address and I CAN ping it AND print to it from a wireless computer in the back office. However, I can NOT either ping it or print to it from the front computer. The Add Printer wizard never sees it either.
The computer has both a wired Ethernet and a wireless adapter. Both are enabled and show up in IPCONFIG.

Aug 9, 2015After upgrade from 7 to 10 my 2 brother printers were visible and apparently ready. The HL2270DW would not print - just spooled forever but the MFCJ825DW worked. I tried using the Brother uninstall tool to remove the laser driver then installed the W8.1 package for it. Would not install. So I wondered if the other printer was to blame and removed it as well and re-installed. I have done this many times now getting progressively more thorough including removing all mentions of Brother drivers using Devices and Printers interface, uninstalling in Device Manager installing in a different order and as administrator, removing folders left over etc. The result is always the same. I can get one of them installed but attempting to print gives the error Driver not installed - do you want to install? Click through, install via windows process but it fails anyway.
