Every site tells me to access search in windows 10 either by swiping from the right or opening the start menu. I have no search tabs in either place. Cortana works but it will only search the internet . How do I search my computer like I could in windows 8.1

View 1 Repliesif i go to history and want to remove it all of a sudden it shoes history and recent tabs and even after the history is deleted by checking the padge and hitting delete the recent tabs still shows the last 9 or 10 sites you have been on?

View 7 RepliesSince doing a refresh of Windows 10 some of my menus or whatever are messed up. It is hard to explain and I searched but since I don't know what it is called I will post a screenshot.
As you can see the tabs on the top are not flat and look like they did from Windows 2000. I can't seem to get them flat. I tried changing themes and I even created a new profile but they are still messed up.
When clicking on Gmail in IE 11, 2 windows for Gmail open. No big deal, I just X one out, but is there a way to have only one window open?

In Google Chrome, I can right-click a favourites folder and open all links in separate tabs. Can't find a feature like this in Edge - am I missing it? or just not there yet?
View 1 RepliesSo I usually have 6 tabs open that auto-refresh by itself. After a period of time, (maybe about 30 minutes), I come back to check that 5 out of the 6 tabs turned into a blank screen but is still loading/auto-refreshing. The tab that I stayed on did not go blank, but others did. I disabled "Use hardware acceleration when available" and cleared cache. Are there any other solutions? I'm using Windows 10 and Chrome is up to date ...
View 1 RepliesFirst off I'm not sure if this is a windows 10 problem. I recently installed windows 10 and reinstalled chrome and ever since I've been getting these weird black bars in chrome every so often when I switch tabs.

Microsoft Edge goes into an auto refresh page mode while switching tabs when there are 4 or more tab opened.
View 1 RepliesSince last week i'm noticing, that live tiles, app list and description of Edge tabs are getting grey or so dark that they are unreadable (only tabs).
All this is happening randomly and it is changing with every tab opened, changed or even with start menu showed up.
Here is picture of what i meant...only calendar tile stay in normal accent color, the rest is darker.
Btw all the apps are starting/working normally.
Right clicking Google Chrome on my taskbar in Windows 10 isn't showing up with any options such as Incognito mode or my recent/common tabs. I recently refreshed my PC after having issues with Windows 10, before refreshing right clicking chrome only gave me incognito, no recent tabs section. I lived with it since it didn't bother me too much but now that I've refreshed it's gotten worse by giving me less options. Right clicking chrome on my taskbar now only shows: Google Chrome, unpin, and close window. how I could fix this?

View 4 RepliesWin 10 Enterprise. Worked fine for a couple of days, but now I cannot seem to bring up the start menu and start typing anything. It will not search. I also tried in the search box or spyglass... I just click on it and nothing happens. It is a major inconvenience. I don't want to do a restore and keep my files, because there is a HUGE list of applications I will then need to restore. I also tried to click on Cortana, but clicking the app does nothing, doesn't even bring it up.
I tried re-indexing search items, I tried the search troubleshooter. I have rebooted, I have installed all updates. Someone on another forum said kill the Cortana task... well there isn't one running.
I Just bought a new XPS 13 (lowest end model) that came with Microsoft 10 pre-installed (bought it from Microsoft store). my problem is that I cannot search for settings in the main search bar or even the settings search bar, the settings search bar simply doesn't work at all, and to double check that this wasn't a windows 10 issue I tried it out on a friend's Laptop and it worked fine. I took screenshots of both my Laptop and my friend's.

I am running win 10 pro tried firefox & chrome both will let me connect and browse the net but will not download all downloads reach about 10-30% and the fail ms edge says hmmm cant reach this page . have tried turning off firewall - malwarebytes & win defender .makes no difference have tried every solution mozilla offers for fire fox for a fix, this all happened after doing a reset of win 10zz
View 3 RepliesI have a Surface Pro that will not download updates from Microsoft.When I check for updates they are found and show what they are but they will not download. The progress bar shows 0% and does not move.I have tried the download troubleshooter and it shows that it could not identify the problem.I use Edge for browser if that makes any difference.One of the downloads is a hardware download dated 7/28/2015..I checked my history and I have not installed any updated since 12/13/2015.

I then installed Ubuntu Linux, so I currently have a dual boot setup. I would like to use Windows 10 on a virtual machine in Ubuntu. Is there any way to obtain the ISO without downloading it? Running fresh install of Windows 10 with today's 1GB patch released this morning. So I go to the store and I am getting the same error message with anything I try to download...
Tried the past workarounds that were posted on the forums and I am getting no results.
Do windows OS allow downloading in background videos,files apps etc. in browser like UC etc. Do downloading gets going still if you move out of the app or close the app.
Like if you're downloading 1 Gig of movie on UC browser on android and still you move out of the app and minimize it the movie continues to download or even if you close the app the movie continues to download. Does Windows phone allow this?
