Why Is Cursor Not Appearing After Upgrade
Mar 27, 2016My cursor is not appearing after upgrading to windows 10....
View 1 RepliesMy cursor is not appearing after upgrading to windows 10....
View 1 RepliesI just did a complete upgrade of my PC replacing motherboard, video card, processor and power supply but keeping original hard drives. I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and then upgraded to Windows 10 soon after completely smoothly with no issues. My boot drive and external survived, but for some reason, even though it was handled with great care, my other SATA hard drive doesn't appear anywhere anymore. I can hear it spin when I boot the PC but it doesn't appear in BIOS or in Disk Management. I changed the cable and the port it was plugged into but no dice.
If it is indeed dead...what are my options in recovering the files? It is essential I get these files back!
It kind of worked on and off when plugged into my brother's PC which uses a different make of motherboard...
after windows 10 upgrade cursor is frozen i have tried to reboot, remove battery for certain amount of time, trouble shoot the hardware, nothing works.
when i start up the computer i am able use the mouse but once it properly boots up THE MOUSE IS FROZEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN
since free upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I have lost the cursor & cannot get it back through any settings.
View 1 RepliesAfter the Windows 10 upgrade my computer goes to a black screen with only the cursor showing and nothing else shows....
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from windows 7 ultimate to windows 10. It seemed to install okay and asked me to log on and select setup preferences, which I did. I left it alone to finish setup and it went to sleep. Now I only get a black screen with an active cursor. I've tried multiple hard restarts, entering logon blindly as suggested in other posts and using windows key-p to switch monitors all to no affect. Ctrl-alt-del has no effect. I cannot bring up any screen and so cannot start in safe mode or download video card drivers. I do not have Windows 10 on media.
View 1 RepliesFreezing, black screen, no cursor, monitor goes to sleep, computer still running after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Must manually force computer shutdown. HP desktop.
View 1 RepliesI keep getting a random pop-up that appears periodically throughout my work day. I ran 'sfc /scannow' and analysed the log file, but it is difficult to decipher for me. The only conclusion I can arrive at, since the problem only started occurring fairly recently, is that a Windows Update is the culprit. The screenshot I am providing states that, "User Data Access_XXXXX has stopped working." The 'XXXXX,' I believe refers to a memory allocation since it is different quite frequently. The most recent one is: "47c0B," but it has been several others.
View 3 RepliesHere's exactly what happens: I turn on my computer. Get to the lockscreen, tuck that away, enter my password so I can get to the desktop. Right when the desktop starts to appear, I get the above message.
When I searched this message online, all I found were various references to programs and apps. But this message doesn't appear when I run a program or app -- it just appears when my computer starts up.
I've looked in the "Startup" tab of Task Manager to see if there are any apps that shouldn't be there; I've also looked in Programs and Features to see if I've installed any programs recently that might be causing a problem. This has been happening for the past, oh, 3 or 4 days now. And honestly, the only installation/update I can see is a Windows 10 update.
I was intending to roll back to 7 before the final release of 10 so that be licence carries over, but while I was in the windows leading up to the roll back I ended up clicking cancel on the last window. Now the option to "Revert back to Windows 7" is no longer there. I have tried rebooting and I am just now seeing if installing updates will bring it back, but how I may be able to get this function back it would be pretty rad. I won't have to do a clean install of 7.
View 1 RepliesI have fingerprint scanner.. I works in when I was in windows 8.. tried the same driver in windows 10 but "windows hello" is not appearing in my sign-in option... Why? My laptop is hp elitebook 8440p and I'm trying to use its built in scanner....
View 2 RepliesRunning Windows 10 and whenever I tried and right click a file and select "Open with" I don't that that small window to appear and show me what apps to select. The window where the file is on loses focus but nothing happens until I click or press a key.
View 2 RepliesEvery time I switch on, before I can do anything else, I have to click a cross on a chrome screen to make it disappear
View 2 RepliesI have a program xyz which has installed and put a short-cut on the desktop.
I have drilled down to C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms and 'yes'... there are my programs, but they do not appear in All Apps listing.
Since I do not want to have the shortcut on my desktop, I want to be able to get to it through All Apps, I am a bit non-plussed, never had this problem with W7.
If I copy paste the line seen on screenshot, then this is what i get:
Code:
system32svchost.exe
I'm 100% sure it's not malware or any other type of malicious software, so please don't start saying that my pc has a virus. What I'd like to know, is where it's coming from and why is windows 10 doing this?
In past, in win 7, i've seen similar chinese characters somewhere in documents and settings folders within some files, i was cleaning my files, going through all the folders in docs and settings and i saw some files having similar names.
It's a fresh install of windows 10, I haven't downloaded anything, but simple things, such as google chrome, ccleaner, winamp, skype ..etc, everything from trusted sources only, so clearly it's not a virus or malware, whatever it is, it's within windows 10. I'm just trying to figure out why my PC is going chinese on me.
I have an external hard drive connected to my W10 PC. Sometimes when I boot (not all the time) I get an error message that the recycle bin is corrupted because the drive is showing as one of the drives that utilizes the recycle bin. It then asks me if I want to empty the recycle bin, which I do. I then go in and change the recycle bin properties to NOT include that drive path.
View 1 RepliesI downloaded Deus Ex Human Revolution DC, and after beating it, I wanted to go in with a trainer and commit some wanton shenanigans. I'm a simple man like that.
However, the trainer, which worked before, has suddenly refused to work by giving me the "Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine." prompt.
Hyper V is already off and my Antivirus is disabled + Windows Defender. It should be working no problem. Sadly, no.
How to shut off this Virtual machine or fix the problem in some way?
I am trying to set up a file server with other computers on my network but they are not appearing the advanced sharing section. My computer is called KSERVER and I would like GEZA-PC to appear there. They are both on the same network connection and it appears in the Network section of the File Explorer.

Picture tells more than a thousand words:
Last time I checked there were only five of those extra adapters. I thought they were made by VirtualBox, but since then I haven't used VirtualBox and new adapters have still been appearing.
i've installed windows 10 on linux before and i've never had any problems booting it (from what i remember, through UEFI boot sources). currently the windows 10 iso seems to be the only one that isn't appearing in UEFI; i installed peppermint from lubuntu using the same image disk writer on the same usb 30 minutes ago.am i supposed to have some specific settings enabled/disabled in my bios to boot the windows install? secure boot is disabled and legacy boot is enabled.
View 2 RepliesI have been having issues with my WD MyCloud NAS not showing up under Network on the left navigation pane of File Explorer. I am able to access the NAS by entering the host name (WDMYCLOUD) in the address bar in File Explorer. I was able to find a solution that fixes this and makes my NAS appear in Network as expected. The solution involved running Command Prompt as Admin, executing some commands, then restarting the computer.
What I would like to do is automate this process by creating a batch file that will:
Open Command Prompt as AdminAutomatically enter specific commandsClose Command PromptRestart the computer
I have a few Windows 10 systems with clean installs (not upgraded) whose C: drives are filling up with random hex named folders; over 50K of them. From what I have read, this could be related to temporary update folders, but they are not being deleted. The folders are named something like "00b332a3dcbf71fb88" and contain 0K of data, but they are extremely annoying.
What these folders could be and if there is a way to either stop these folders from appearing or at minimum, to redirect them to another location not on the root of the C: drive? If these are related to Windows updates, I will not be able to shut those off as these systems are all part of a group policy that keeps them on. I can shut down that policy, but prefer not to have to do that.
See Pictures, 'Local Disk E' appears twice at the side, not an issue, but I don't know why?
View 9 RepliesWhenever I open file explorer multiple copies of the documents and pictures folders appear in the side bar. When I click on them they are all exactly the same. It starts off with one then a second appears then a third. Thirteen is the most I have seen so far.
What is causing this or how I get it to stop? (Picture attached)
How can I stop Edge (Bing) from making suggestions when I am typing in the address bar? This is so annoying.
View 3 RepliesWindows 10 Home factory installed on a new HP Envy. On boot up, there are times when the taskbar doesn't become populated and the default icons on the right and left don't function. Then there are times when the taskbar icons are populating, but the default icons don't function. And then there are times when all is working properly. I don't know why this happens, but I have noticed this: At night I shut the computer down. This morning when booting up, the computer went very quickly to the initial opening screen. Clicking on this screen then opens the password screen, and after entering the pw, windows opens fully but without a populated taskbar or functioning default icons. I then restarted the computer, but this time the boot-up took a longer time. The HP logo appeared with the "circling" icon, then there was the blue screen with the "circling" icon and finally the opening screen that needs to be clicked to then open the password screen. Entered the pw and the windows screen opened with a fully populated taskbar and functioning default icons.
