Task bar is set to auto hide and is at the bottom of the screen. Everything works Ok until computer goes into sleep mode and when I wake it up the task bar will not reappear until I either reboot or open task manager and restart Windows Explorer. Everything then works until the computer next goes into sleep mode when I have to repeat the process. However, if I move the task bar to the left side of the screen it keeps working after being in sleep mode. I don't have to reboot or restart Windows Explorer like I do if it is at the bottom of the screen. It's quite an annoyance to have to restart Windows Explorer and it is also an annoyance trying to keep the task bar on the left of the screen since I had it placed at the bottom for so many years.

Task Manager is behaving strangely.
Everything else is working properly on my machine.
I can open Task Manager and view all of the various tabs, but they are not updating in real-time. Rather, I am receiving only the static information from the moment when I opened Task Manager, and CPU is the only Performance graph that changes. Exiting and restarting Task Manager does not fix the problem.
Task Manager 1
Task Manager 2
As you can see, it indicates CPU at >90%, which doesn't make sense to me as I rarely see usage levels so high (except at startup). None of the other graphs are updating at all.
Resource Monitor behaves normally and it indicates the CPU is only running at 4% or so, which appears normal to me, as I only have these utilities, Chrome and Word active right now.
I am on OS Build 10586.11 (non-Insider) and just confirmed all updates are installed.
I both restarted and shut down the machine; the behavior remains.
Reliability History has no errors from neither yesterday nor today.
Overnight I left my rig uploading files to my Dropbox account and the transfers were uploading fine this morning when I noticed Task Manager had closed itself. I do not use the Dropbox desktop app, but rather drag and drop folders to the Dropbox web interface folders. (I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the problem, just trying to provide what details I can.) I also spent a few hours yesterday reconfiguring all of my OneDrive folders which are work-related. I use Office 365 and the OneDrive desktop app is installed, works properly, up-to-date with no sync issues.
Reviewing Event Viewer, the only thing jumping out (to me) is the DHCP-client error, which I'm thinking is the fact that my primary and backup machines are connected via ethernet (a change I made earlier this week with no obvious problems since), bypassing my router, ergo no assignment. The rest of the errors are fairly common to what I've been experiencing regularly.
Here is a capture of Event Viewer errors:
After reviewing the Troubleshooters, I'm not sure if any of them are applicable.
After I submit this post, I will run sfc /scannow and update with results.
if there are too many images, etc. This is my first post where I'm using captures and I'm unsure if I inserted these correctly and provided everything I can to properly describe the problem.

I have an AMD 6670 and I just upgraded to Windows 10. At first I couldn't set my resolution back to 1920x1080 but I downloaded the driver and now I'm able to. The issue is that when I set the resolution, it's like everything is stretched out. The taskbar is off the screen on the bottom and same with the icons on the top and sides of the screen. I can see the very top of the taskbar at the bottom, but not enough to click on start or choose any programs that I have open.

I updated my computer (Asus X553MA) to windows 10 a few days after the release became available for my computer. Up until the upgrade from windows 8.1 update, I was having no problems with my touchscreen whatsoever. But once I upgraded, my touchscreen and touch pad functionality ceased to work. I went to the I installed all the windows updates (not like I really had much of a choice to begin with), and installed all of the updates available for windows 10 from the Asus webpage. I managed to regain all of my multigesture touch pad functionality, but my touchscreen still ceases to work.
I saw in one of the other forums that going through the device manager and modifying some settings, you are able to get your touchscreen to work, but the setting that needs to be modified, is not available on my computer. I have also restored my computer to a point after the upgrade to windows 10 to where I knew my touchscreen was working, but I've had no luck.

Problem:
1) Since updating to windows 10, Laptop completely incapable of making any sound out of the speakers.
2) Headphones plugged into jack produces no volume out of earbuds
3) The Color of the volume slider when F9 or F10 is pressed is a light yellowish orange. Not the Usual Green
4) Playing a test tone creates an error box "Failed to play test tone"
Things I have Tried
1) Downloading a new Driver (failed)
2) Resting the sound and Sound system (failed)
3) Finding the mute button and unmuting the computer (it wan't muted)
4) Restarting the computer
Edit: 5) Tried to switch playback options, There are only 2: 24 Bit: 48000 Hz, 16 Bit 48000 Hz (DVD quality)
Solution I want:
1) My toshiba to actually play sound out of speakers
2) toshiba to play sound out of headphones.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware of software problem. Any way I'm posting it on both Toshiba and Windows 10 Forums.

So, I was updating the graphics driver, and the computer rebooted itself, when it turned back on all I saw was my chosen accent color in the frame of my main monitor (I have 3). I then turned off the computer, removed the card, and plugged one of my displays into the MOBO. The PC booted just fine, and ran normally. I turned off the PC, and put back in the graphics card and booted back up, I got the same thing. I'd been meaning to do a system refresh, so I chose then to do that. I did the refresh, and now whenever I have the card in the PC, I get stuck at the HP Boot screen (not letting me enter the BIOS) and the PC beeps once, then not again. I turn off the PC, remove the card, and Windows runs perfectly.

Start Menu doesn't work upon clicking. Task Manager works when system first boots but then goes into "Not Responding" mode, doesn't work either. Cortana/Search doesnt work. Currently cant click icons on desktop either. Right click doesn't seem to be working either
Third party apps like games seem to be working fine oddly enough.
Tried a system restore, system restore failed. Tried reinstalling windows apps via powershell, command ran for a really long time, before I got the "Server Execution failed" message. Have tried creating a new user, new user creation via "Manage User Accounts" tends to hang again. Have tried running below from cmd, returned with no errors.
=> sfc / scannow
Have run a malware check, returned negative.
Have run the windows troubleshooter, got a message "Fix or work around emerging issue 67758"
Getting this message right now:: ms-settings personalization-background => This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.
I haven't performed a clean install of Windows yet on my system, as I am trying to determine if there's any way to fix this problem without formatting my disk.

When I right click start window and then click Task Manager I receive the following response:
"C:Users...AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsWinXGroup25 - Task Manager.lnk
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
I haven't been able to locate the program and am not sure where to find the correct program. I've searched the net but there's no mention of Windows 10.

Got my Win 10 at the lauch day and have been enjoying it until I decided to do some clean up. I ran Ccleaner and Puran utilities reg cleaning tools. After that the start button and task bar became unresponsive.
I tried to google the issue and found out a sort of a solution, but it's not good enough to be permanent. This was that fix:
Right click on the Start Menu button and open Command Prompt (Admin)Enter PowerShell in the command linePaste the following line in the Administrator:
PowerShell Window:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml}
Wait for the PowerShell to execute the command (ignore a few red error codes).
I'm also having problems with updates which seems to be failing everytime. I was hoping the updates would fix the first problem, but since the updates won't istall, I can't know if they would.
So now I'm thinking about fully resetting the install, but since I don't have external hard drive, I wouldn't want to go that far with this.

This issue just popped up after restarting my computer today. Earlier, all the task bar icons were showing and I could see the time/date, but clicking on them would do nothing. Also whenever I tried to open pictures with "Photos" I would get an error message about something timing out and I would have to use windows explorer.
So I restarted, and when I booted my computer up again, the task bar icons never showed up and the time and date is gone. I can't click on cortana and clicking the windows icon will bring up nothing. I've restarted twice since then but nothing has worked so far.

So.. I upgraded to windows 10, and like usual, I had high expectations.I installed it, it seemed to work fine and all, then I cant click the task bar. Literally, cannot click into anything except for Steam and Windows Explorer. No start menu working, no internet applications working. So.. I go to reinstall windows 10, and I get the same shit. So now that I cannot open up the start menu, I cant even revert back to Windows 7.My only option now seems to be to just chuck all my shit on my external and do a clean wipe.. Which I don't really want to do but will if needed.

Sometime in December, 2015 my keyboard Windows button and my task bar Start menu and Search stopped working and without the ability to START I lost all the tiles. Windows has now become very cumbersome to use.
I have given up on Windows 10 and it's too late to recover Windows 7 (Windows 7 was great). Really wish this had not happened as I have been a Windows user since version 3.1. I guess I posted this here because I'm frustrated with the problem and need to air it out. Must buy a new PC.

For the second time in a row after an update my start button and task bar have stopped working. I downloaded a batch file from a forum site the last time and it worked, so i used it again. My system is now working again. As this appears to be an issue that Microsoft cannot resolve I am now going to turn off automatic updates.

My audio seems to not be working. I have never had this issue with this computer before until 2 days ago. I was able to roll back my system to an older date which fixed it for about a day. This time, however, it did not get the same results. My audio is just...well... gone. The sound (lower right corner in the task bar) says it is muted. When I click the icon it brings me straight to a troubleshoot, which we all know never actually fixes the problem.
The driver is installed and before I get asked if I have done the un-install and re-install, yes I have.I have un-installed and re-installed close to 6 times now. I have gone into the services and restarted (stop and start) the windows audio service close to 12 times.
Due to my audio working when I rolled back the system before, I assume my sound card is fine, but the software is not working properly (despite what the device manager says). I have also updated my system to windows 10 from windows 8.1, yet the issue remains.

I just recently(July 30th) installed Win 10 on my Toshiba C55D-A5382 laptop, that originally came with Win 8.1(purchased summer of 2014). After the full install of Win 10 - that took 35 minutes to do(using Brighthouse Lighting 150Mbps connection), Win 10 flashed up saying - install was a success. After it restarted and I signed in(newer start pages look great to me), I placed the cursor on the "Start Button" to have a look see at all the new stuff to be seen(but to no avail). "Start Button" does not work at all nor does the bottom task bar line either, and my laptop has been on for 3 straight days now(getting worried about over heating issues). When I had Win 8.1 OS on this laptop, it use to go to sleep on it's own - but not now. I have waited patiently for "Windows Support" .... Using both "Live Chat" as I waited for over 74 minutes, and over the "Phone Support" as I waited for over an hour - both to no avail. Is there anyway to kick start the "Start Menu" again? Can I go back and re-install Win 8.1 on to it and then re-install Win 10 on it again?

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 Home (64bit) from Windows 7 Home (64bit). I am having problems that I cannot find a fix to in the common faults section. As in the title, my start button is not working. The action center, settings and task manager are not working also. Other problems I am having are: I cannot open a new user account, I cannot log into my guest account or one of my main accounts and I cannot log into cmd as administrator by right clicking on it in the task bar. I have tried to fix the start menu my opening powershell as administrator and pasting some code into it, but it did not work.

When I try to place my recycle bin on the bottom row it just moves one row up. I didn't had this issue before.
I did a system restore and it was on the bottom row for a couple of seconds and suddenly it moved up.
I can place it on the bottom row if I change the text size to 100%, but that's too small. Is there any other way?

Having issues with certain icons not staying at the bottom when I put them there. It all started after a windows 10 update some time ago. One day I fired up my laptop and noticed that some of my icons that I had at the bottom of the screen moved up. Tried to move them back and they went right back to the next row above. Did some searching and found suggestion moving the text size smaller and that worked, but now all of my icons are tiny.

Okay, last night I was playing fine on my built PC with windows 10, everything worked and nothing was wrong. But when I started it this moring it was greated by an unusually long lasting black screen on startup and was only able to see my mouse. That's problem #1. Now I bypassed this by hitting space bar and entering my password to log into my computer..After logging in I see that all of my icons on my desktop are gone. I tried to open chrome from my taskbar and the taskbar shows that its open but noting appears on my screen when I try to acess it. This is the same with all of my apps.
I also can't see any of the icons on the bottom right hand of my desktop either .(such as the wifi signal and the volume mixer) I can hit my windows button and can navigate a menu that's is contained in that box. But can't open anything. I've tryed restarting, ctrl alt del only brings me to another black screen. This is my full build. I have had no problems with the computer before today.
