View 1 RepliesOkay, I was following this tutorial ( How to customize the Start list in Windows 10 ) and noticed that I don't even have the, "Start Menu" tab. Is it supposed to be gone? If so. How am I supposed to customize the start list?
View 5 RepliesI tried everything to solve this problem but i can't fix it.
View 4 RepliesHere's a screenshot of "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog from a fresh clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64
As you can see, despite its name, it does not have a tab for "Start Menu". I remember that Preview versions of Windows 10 had a "Start Menu" tab. Did they just remove at the last moment? And how I change Start Menu options without that tab?
I've been fighting properties window since I installed window 10... I use this function a lot. The problem is the properties window opens in the background. So I have to minimize all the windows I have open to see the properties window. The weird thing is the properties window is the only one that does that, When I open a new window of anything it opens in the forground. Is there a way to force the properties window open in the forground.
View 5 RepliesRight click empty part of taskbar, go to "properties". I have 3 tabs. Taskbar, navigation, and toolbars. According to several sites I have read, I should also have a "start menu" tab with a "customization" button to change some things on the left side of the start menu, and also enable pinning things to the left side. This option is missing for me. Is this something that has to be enabled with a registry tweak?
View 9 RepliesMy start button on windows 10 does not do anything and the edge icon is missing from taskbar. I have tried sfc / scanner in powershell and nothing different....
View 8 RepliesSo my laptop, which has been on Windows 10 for a while now, updated last night after I went to bed. So now the start menu won't open and I don't have the icons on the bottom right corner (time, wifi, etc.). I read several old posts about doing the "powershell" thing but it won't let me because it said I have to run it as an administrator on the console. So I'm stuck there because it's my laptop, wouldn't I automatically have admin rights on my own device?
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 last night and have had nothing but problems. The biggest one is the fact that I cannot open the start menu, I had worked around it by right clicking it and then selecting what I needed from there. However now that doesn't even work.
View 4 RepliesIt started to happen yesterday, and when I "Right Click -> Properties" in any icon, nothing shows up. I tested with every other right click menu's options and they worked fine.
View 4 RepliesI've not got the 'Start Menu' tab in my 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' control panel (right-click on taskbar). I've seen screenshots on the web, but my Win 10 Pro doesn't have. How can I enable?
View 1 RepliesWhats up with the missing text labels? Sometimes its my start menu sometimes its the right click menu.
View 7 RepliesI upgraded to 10 Home yesterday and everything seemed to work fine. Today after deleting several files from my photos the system hung and I had to do a power off reboot. After that the start menu wont come up and the search window won't accept any text. Right click on the start menu does respond and seems to work properly. I also did a sys. file chk., it said that some files were corrupted and not repairable.
View 2 RepliesI'm having issues accessing both the Wifi Panel and the Windows Start Menu from task bar at the bottom of the home screen. When I left-click on with it does nothing. I can right-click on the icons but still unable to open either. Wifi shows a connection (Wifi icon) but still unable to connect to internet. Other items in the task bar are accessible with no problems. Unable to download/update anything because of the inability to access the internet.
View 1 RepliesWhile trying to discover why my most used list was not showing up on the start menu, I learned that when I right click on the task bar and go to properties, the Start Tab is not present where it should be.
View 4 RepliesI use the start menu of the secondary monitor to open an application, that application open on the primary monitor.
Is there a way to get that application to open on the monitor I started it from. (Using the Start Button of that monitor) ?
I don't actually get the point of having an extra start menu taskbar on that second monitor if it actually open the application on the primary one instead of the current one. It defeat the purpose of having a Start button on those secondary monitor. (I means if you gonna open an application on the primary one, I might as well just use the Start button of the primary one!!)
Also i'm having a second issue related to the first one i guess:
Example: I open ChromeFile Explorer or whatever on my secondary monitor and close it. When I try to open a new one on any monitor it would open it at the LAST KNOW LOCATION of where I closed it.
This is very annoying when you use "Virtual Desktop" "Multiple Monitor" If I open an application I expect it to open where I launch it from(Monitor,Virtual Desktop etc).
I just got my hands on a new UX305 from ASUS and it's working wonderfully. However, I wanted to change the icons for the Desktop, Downloads, Music, etc. folders in Quick access in File Explorer. I was able to do it on my main rig, but there is no customize tab for most of the folders in quick access, and those that do still don't allow me to change the icon.
View 1 Repliesmy start menu. Originally, at the bottom there was a search bar. Then I installed Start10, made some changes, and then decided to uninstall the program and go back to the default start menu. The uninstallation required a restart, which I did, however now the start menu bottom search bar is gone. I tried going through the start menu settings but no luck. So I tried reinstalling Start 10, but it says that the computer must restart to finish the earlier uninstallation before a new install can begin. I have tried turning the laptop completely off multiple times but get the same result.
View 1 RepliesThe mostly used list is not showing anything at all. I checked in settings and it is marked to show most recently used.
View 5 RepliesSuddenly the "Settings" and "File Explorer" options are missing from the start menu of my Windows 10x64 Pro installation. I tried going back to a restore point when I knew they were there they still didn't come back.
View 3 RepliesI finally upgraded from Win7 to Win10. The start links (Documents to Videos) all come up as "Missing Shortcut".
After about a minute or so, it changes to the "Problem with Shortcut"
For Videos, I clicked the "Delete it" option and it completely removed it.
I have tied many combinations of turning on/off the links in settings and restarting to no avail. Also, the folder in app data it refers to does not exist under any profile.
I'd rather not fill up the Tiles area with these links when they could be there vice blank space.
Just got this error and couldn't find anything like this solved. The icons (or maybe the apps) are missing from the start menu.
View 3 RepliesI have several computers running Win. 10!
This problem only occurs on my 32bit machine, where the Left Click Mouse on Start Panel doesn't work any longer?
I remember that after I had upgraded to Windows 10, my local account wasn't available and the system logged me in with a temporary profile. Then when I logged in with my account, some of the tiles from the start menu had disappeared. I've tried opening powershell and executing the "GetAppx" command line, but that didn't work. I don't even know what the cause of it is.
What I did was simply refresh my PC, preserving my personal files and documents, although I'll have to re-install a few of my apps. But the start menu appears to be back to it's usual state. Still not sure who is at fault though, me or Microsoft...? :/
Maybe it's just me, but it is my opinion that the OS build is buggy (I have 10586.0).
I uploaded W10 yesterday morning, loved it, no problems at all. Turned on my PC this afternoon and when I click on the start button nothing happens. Also the live tiles have gone and some icons in the taskbar are missing too!
View 1 RepliesI was rearranging some stuff on the Start Menu and Taskbar before it started. So, basically, when I try to hover over the Taskbar, the mouse simply switches to the "loading" animation and won't let me open any pinned programs or open the Start Menu. If I try spamming the Start button on the taskbar, it opens sometimes but closes after a split second, before I can do anything. The same happens with right click menus on the desktop, they instantly disappear. The screen goes black every few seconds.
I can still open desktop programs, though they don't seem to be useful. When I open programs, they seem to be exempt from these effects, excluding the fact that most programs are automatically closed. I admittedly do not have much knowledge of computers. I tried most things that came to mind. None worked, of course. I tried doing multiple forced resets, removing the battery, made a useless attempt at resetting the normal way, I tried scanning the registry for issues with CCleaner, I tried getting towards the Control Panel via the right click menu, but it automatically closed. I also tried using Powershell but it took me like an hour just to open it and wasn't of much use either. And lastly I tried ending tasks on the Task Manager, but that just made the entire screen black, so thats great. I
