I upgraded to windows 10 on 05/08/15. after completion of the upgrade the screen brightness increased tremendously. i am not able to reduce it. i tried mobility centre, device manager and all usual methods.
View 3 RepliesI have recently encountered weird problems with Windows 10, such as not being able to adjust the brightness (upon booting up, the brightness is either 0% or 100%), and sudden lag spikes that affect FPS by dropping it to 0 for 1-2 seconds, every 3 seconds. I have recently updated AMD Radeon drivers, and Windows 10 has also updated itself (which has always messed up everything) Also, now when the screen goes black (sleep mode), it always requires me to log in back to my Windows account, and it didn't do that before Windows updated itself.
The lag that I'm experiencing, is NOT connection-based lag, so my internet connection and everything works perfectly. It just the FPS that drops suddenly. It just freezes everything for a moment. It also doesn't require me playing a game or anything; just being on the desktop, having nothing open, will still make the lag spikes occur. My processor runs on the desktop around 8-24%, and when the lag spikes occur, it doesn't change at all. So nothing's draining the processor, I guess. Also the memory and all the others stay on the same level.I am using a HP Laptop that's not that efficient, but I have always been able to play games like Minecraft with decent settings on 60FPS.
i upgraded my laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10 single language home edition .after the installation brightness control key is not working and also on the right bottom of the screen from the battery option the brightness option is disabled (m not able to select it ). how to fix this bug m using HP notebook
View 4 RepliesI can't adjust my brightness on my laptop with either the hotkeys (F11 + F12), or with the display menu in settings.
Yesterday it worked before i got to bed, then i shut it down and this morning i started it up and the brightness won't change anymore.
I find the white of the win 10 windows just easy to bright, especially late are night. I don't wanna reduce my monitors brightness cos i have to up it again after to pay my xbox.is there a brightness setting?

I think I got this problem after the windows update that came a few days ago. My laptop screen is brighter than my future right now and Im forced to use some third party screen filter software to avoid hurting my eyes..
just updated to windows ten with my Sony Vaio 14 touchscreen laptop. 2 things ive noticed so far that have been bugging me is 1. I cannot adjust my brightness with the f5 & f6 keys like i could before... nor do i know how to changed the brightness now at all. Also if not able to connect to an external display (i.e. monitor or TV) used to do it automatically with 8 now nothing.

I pass the Gamma section, but when I come to the brightness and contrast part, I cannot adjust them. Under the picture it says that I should use controls on the display, but there are none. I tried using the mouse scroll and the up and down arrows, but nothing seems to work.
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded my lenovo z500 non-touch to windows 10, and i've been experiencing some problems. first, which is the most annoying, my start menu wont come up, i restarted a number of times and i tried the thing you copy in powershell and still didnt work. and also my brightness level is stuck, if i hit the + or - brightness on keyboard the brightness level meter on my screen changes but the actual brightness level of my screen doesnt move.

View 8 RepliesSometimes when i start up in win10 get a black screen, if i pull out charging lead desktop comes up, if plug back in get black screen, so pull out and on desktop go into display with left mouse button, display slider works is working in reverse so set it to darkest which puts screen on brightest, then plug charger in most times this works, Another way that works sometimes is leave charger in use function key and dim button (rh arrow) and screen sometimes shows desktop.

Screen settings are as shown below.I also tried using the command line:/ This allows me to change the brightness, however 100% is still not really 100% when on battery.

Am looking for something similar to f.lux but without the orange filter, there is one called Turn off the lights, but it's very expensive ($25).
Also, isn't this supposed to be live a very basic thing ? i know that on laptop the brightness is controlled "physically" to save energy, i also know that f.lux and the other program i mentioned above are not accessing the real screen colors settings so maybe that's why Microsoft didn't add it but how hard would it be to make a software that just apply a color filter over the entire screen (reducing the darkness will just be a transparent black filter).
I just updated my display driver to the latest from Nvidia. Now the left half of the display is darker than the right half. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling, but the problem remains.
The driver is Nvidia 355.60 WHQL , and yes my display card in on the list of supported cards. This is the driver for Windows 10 64 bit and my Nvidia GTS 450.
I have never seen this issue before and I don't know if it is Windows 10 or the Nvidia driver causing the problem.
Recently i upgrade my laptop to windows 10, and also update my graphic drivers, but now the battery icon in notification area is not visible and i can't change the brightness of my screen too. it seems that the graphic driver installed correctly.
View 2 RepliesPower & Sleep settings won't save my screen brightness settings. On my plugged in HP laptop default the screen brightness is set to maximum despite making changes in the Power & Sleep menu screen. I've even tried creating my own Power Plan but the next time it restarts it changes to the HP recommended power plan which sets the screen brightness to maximum.
View 1 RepliesI had Windows 7 installed on one HDD and XP installed on secondary HDD. When I initially installed W7, it set up a boot screen which enabled me to access and run XP. After I upgraded to W10 and I try to start XP by booting from the secondary HDD, it pops up with the W7 boot select screen and, when I select to run "Earlier version of Windows", it goes to a black screen with no HDD activity.
Before you ask why I still have XP, I run a number of programs for design and game modding which are NOT compatible with later versions of Windows, even when using the so-called compatibility modes.
Is there any way I can eliminate the residual W7 boot select screen?
I am trying to upgrade to Windows 10. I clicked on the flag symbol and a box appeared with a spinning wheel and the message please wait. I waited and waited for 2 hours on numerous occasions but nothing happened and now I recieve a message saying "reserve your upgrade now" but the link still dousent work. Is there anouther way I can upgrade for free.? I dont know if its because millions of people are trying to connect at once or what. What appears in the box when it opens. I have Windows 7, legal as far as I know as I got the computer secondhand.

Got a sabertooth z77 with two ssd on raid 0 (intel) another hard drive for backups (Regular sata) and another storage card (pciexpress sas highpoint 2720, with raid 5)
Windows 10 doesnt seem to like this.
Even booting the dvd itself its a drag and hr wont recognize the raid 0 not even with drivers (driver load will cause a watchdog blue screen)
Windows 7 and 8 dont mind. At all.
I feel like the csm thingy might have something to do.
Bios is latest. Sas raid is for storage only. Ill search for the manual of the board as the printed one doesnt have the options i got on the screen
