View 1 RepliesI am using Windows 10 on my Lenovo computer. Yesterday I noticed that one of my very important folder with several subfolders (approximately 14) have disappeared form my Mozilla Thunderbird account. I can not find it in thrash or under deleted folder. I have changed the hidden files settings in my control panel app but I still missing my folder(s).
View 14 Replieslosing all their bookmarks and their password database when they restarted Firefox after the update from Windows 7 (or any other version) -> Windows 10??
Yes, did create system image but did not preserve C:users (-> U:) *. Even the old folder no longer had my bookmarks, and moving the old passwd and master key file did not allow Moz to figure it out.**
* I don't want users on my SSD drive -- I add/delete stuff WAYYY too often, so it sits on a spinny drive and is connected via a junction point.
** electronic god(desse)s for even a 7-month-old backup, so I didn't lose that much in terms of moz config.
I cannot send emails from my laptop either with windows live mail or thunderbird all setting have been checked and rechecked I can send emails if I use the build in mail app and my outlook account I can also send emails via webmail it's just as if something is blocking outgoing mail ! Each time I try I just find the email sitting in the outbox and a error message saying unable to send or in the case of thunder bird just get the green line showing progress and it just sits there.
View 1 RepliesSo I've been using Windows 10 for the past two weeks now. I really dig it, however the hard drive I'm on is slightly slower than my 7200rpm drive which could boot Windows 7 up a lot faster.
I upgraded my Windows 7 installation to this current Windows 10 install and since I want to
1. Sell this current hard drive
and
2. Move to the other hard drive,
I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. I have a large amount of software and important documents installed on this pc.
In the event where I want to clean install to the other hard drive, I don't really want to be tasked with having to reinstall all of this software again, mostly because I don't have installers available for them.
So I guess I want to know what are the benefits to clean installing over upgrading on an already fast hard drive and what would be most convenient in my case if this option is more viable?
I've read differing opinions online over upgrade vs clean install and I want to know what I should do.
Since I upgraded to Win10 it takes FOREVER to transfer files from my SD cards via the built in card-reader. It worked fine prior on Windows 7. Now the speed meter BARELY goes above 0... The files do transfer, but it takes hours. I shoot a lot of photos, so I need to get this fixed. I did add an exclusion for explorer.exe in windows defender which was suggested by a post, but that didn't seem to do anything.
View 2 RepliesJust downloaded Windows 10 and noticed both my "windows" folder and "old windows" folder are located in my HDD.
How can I transfer windows 10 to my SSD?
My computer is a lenovo Y500 for future reference, it has both a 1 TB HDD and a 25 GB SSD built in.
So in the past I used the Windows Phone app on Windows 8.1 to transfer music from my PC to my Lumia. But now I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and I don't know how to transfer music to my Lumia. I found out It's supposed to be through the Phone companion app, but it just tells me to use the File Explorer.
View 2 RepliesDaily is the name given to the new replacement for Mozilla Thunderbird. It often has daily updates, and the one today (08 Jan 2016) causes it to lose all email settings. As a result, when it start is shows no existing email, no email account, and looks like you are starting with a fresh install of a new email client.
To get around this I downloaded and installed the latest version of Thunderbird (38.5.1) and this did show all my email OK. So something bad happened to Daily - hopefully whoever it is who controls that software will fix it tomorrow.
I just did a "reset" of Windows 10 on a previously owned PC that was given to me. It seems to have worked fairly well at cleaning up and re-installing windows 10. The first thing I did was download and install Mozilla firefox 42.0 web browser because that's the browser I'm most familiar with using. I also switch my Windows settings to "high contrast" because I have vision problems. Everything seems to work fine except in the firefox browser when I go to certain web-pages the graphics on some web-pages aren't rendering at all, and all I get are large blank spaces where there should be graphics instead.
View 6 RepliesSomehow I managed to have Firefox start at system login and now I don't want it to do so.I've checked Task Manager and it isn't there.I've checked usersappDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStartMenuProgramsStartup and it isn't there.
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded to Windows10, and now my system freezes frequently. It mainly happens when I am using Mozilla Firefox, but also at other times. Each time I have to do a hard shutdown. What can I try?
View 1 RepliesI have been trying yahoo mail in google chrome, mozilla and edge. Chrome and mozilla can't compose emails or reply to any mail in yahoo mail ,Tried clearing cache for mozilla and just installed chrome and this started right away. Edge, has a delay when typing messages, other then the delay in edge, all else works, although I have not tried to send any attachments at all.
View 1 RepliesAfter launching Mozilla hard disk activity seems to be permanently on, as if Mozilla where reindexing or something. It takes a long time (10-20 minutes) to stop and it makes browsing a very jerking experience. Of course I did a clean install to rule out some corrupted installation but no dice.
Launching Resource Monitor shows that all disk activity is being done by Mozilla FF and Windows Defender (Firefox being the first candidate).
I can see where one can choose which email client to use as the default in the system settings, but Thunderbird is not listed in the available options.
View 2 RepliesI have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.
My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.
As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here.
I am using an HP Pavillion 15-n268a laptop.
I have a prebuilt PC with Windows 10 installed on it. I want to upgrade the boot HDD to an SSD. Is it possible to do such a thing? If so, how do I transfer the OEM windows 10 from the HDD to SSD?
View 1 RepliesI just got a new laptop with windows 10 installed (upgrade of 8) on the hard drive which isn't an ssd, and I'd like to use an ssd I have Is there a way for me to put the factory install OS on my ssd?
The laptop doesn't have a dvd drive, but of course usb ports And the laptop didn't come packaged with any cds or what-not like the old days And it's a Lenovo if that makes any difference.
I just finished installing windows 10 on my HDD that had windows 7 on it. I bought a SSD specifically for an operating system but when I put windows 10 on it is kept asking me for a key that I couldn't find? How can I get windows 10 on my SSD and I am willing to have to re download all of my programs.
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to update for a long time now. But the final upgrade wit keeps on saying : There's a problem please try again later. I have windows 7 (it's compatible to upgrade) and it's not a pirated version.
View 1 RepliesI want to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10. My c drive size is 50 gb. currently i have 10 gb free space in my c drive. Will I be able to upgade to windows 10?
View 5 RepliesI'm talking about one of the below transfer boxes. I no longer see one when copying files so I have to guess when it is finished. It seems to have started after my last weekly update. I'm running Build 11082 with all the latest updates.
View 1 RepliesMy old computer was a windows 8 that was upgraded to windows 10. I just ordered a new i5 6600 which comes with windows 10, a 250G SSD and 1 TB hard drive.. My old hard drive appears to be a Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA which seems to be the same as the one in my new Vanquish. My old hard drive is 2/3 full and is backed up often. My question is can I move this old hard drive to my new computer as a separate drive without formatting it and use the data on it (or transfer my data) or does it need to be formatted (thus giving me roughly 2 TB of space with the 1 TB provided with the computer). It was my C: drive in the old computer.
View 8 RepliesMy laptop has a fan problem, so I need to transfer my photos to a memory stick. In my old windows I could easily "send to" any photo and transfer it to a disc or memory stick, but I am so lost and frustrated on the new windows 10. I have only gotten as far as clicking the box, but can't figure out what next.
View 5 RepliesJust set up new computer with windows 10 and am trying to figure out correct procedure to transfer old email, pics, documents, etc from the old computer running vista? I have an old version of a software called intellimover and a high speed USB transfer cable. Will that work ok with windows 10?
View 1 RepliesI just bought a new Dell computer. I created a disk image of the old Dell computer to an external drive, How do I move the disk image from the external drive to the new computer. Also I will not mind if I can be directed to a third party software that can do the job for me. I am using Windows 10 on both machines.
