View 1 RepliesWhen I started the recovery process to revert back to Windows 7, I saw a warning that I would need to reinstall some programs after reverting. I aborted at that point. What programs I would need to reinstall?
View 1 RepliesWhen watching videos or dvd/blurays, the video will freeze but the audio continues. Basically the programs (cyberlink Media suite 10 and Media player classic) crashes, giving errors, but can not see the error box. it is hidden and can not alt-tab to get to it. When running games like Torchlight, Shadow Warrior, and I exit the game (full screen) it goes to a full blank Grey screen (no icons or mouse) and I can't alt-tab, ctrl-alt-delete, or anything. I have to physically shut down my computer and turn it back on. When running the games in windowed screens, the video, on the game freezes, and audio continues.
I have figured out how to run Torchlight in open gl, and it works fine, that way, but am unable to change any settings. My "Driver Fusion 3.1" program freezes, when searching for outdated drivers. I contacted their support, and gave them the logs, for the program, and they can't find the issue, due to the program crashing at different stages in the search (not just on the same driver or spot every time). This problem started when I was still running win 8.1, right before I upgraded to 10, and has persisted through upgrade to 10, and two (fully clean) reinstalls of 10. I uploaded my Msinfo 32 and DxDiag txts.
I have gone through setting the windows update to never install device drivers, Removed all Nvidia device drivers, Used DDU to get all nvidia off my system, and done a full clean reinstall of Nvidia drivers, manually downloaded from Nvidia website (355.82 WHQL). Done this 4 times, last night, 15 times in all.
I'm gonna do a clean install of win10 but I don't want to lose all my files and games and programs etc. I need to do a clean install because I have a custom built pc and people have been having problems with simply upgrading so to prevent those problems I am doing a clean install. So, how to do a clean install to where I don't have to reinstall anything just sign in and it works?
View 1 RepliesI have not been able to get audio out of any programs (vlc, spotify, games etc.) The only program that seems to produce sound is my web browser. Inb4 my sound is not muted.
View 1 RepliesA few months ago I installed a windows 7 security update, and my computer basically turned to crap. Most programs couldn't be run unless I opened them in compatibility mode for vista, and games were very laggy. I fixed most of the problems by updating to windows 10, but the game lag is still here. I've updated all of my drivers, but I still can't seem to find the issue. Admittedly, my graphics card is quite bad, but I could still run a lot of games at low settings decently, but now most are abysmal. Oddly enough, there a few games that run just as well as they did before the update. They are Sniper Elite 2, Diablo III, Elder Scrolls online, and nearly all single player games. However, no other game, at least that I've tried, can run. What's causing this lag, and why these games in specific run fine?
View 2 RepliesWin10 has just updated and I now cannot access my old desktop profile.
In addition, all my regular programs that were pinned to the toolbar have disappeared as well as their listing in 'All Apps' unless they are MS progs. So Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox are not there, I started them from the program folders and clicked to 'pin to toolbar' but when I close them they do not stay pinned.
When I try to click into This PCDesktop an error box appears saying:-
Location is not available
C:UsersAdministratorDesktop is not available
Access is denied
My laptop did an automatic Windows 10 update Friday and restarted but no program will open now and I have to hold the on key to restart it. I get about 15-30 second after it comes up to click on something and it might open but will stop responding shortly after. I have got task manger to open once and only AVG was running but it frozen before I could click on anything.
I started in safe mode and removed the last window updates only to had them reinstall when it restarted.
What at can I do? Is this a virus or malware or did the latest update do this?
I recently reinstalled Fallout 3 but noticed every time I saved, they weren't detected in the Load screen. I checked the folder (C:UsersAlien2DocumentsMy GamesFallout3) and my saves were there! So the game is saving, but I'm unable to load any of them cuz they aren't getting detected.
I have Windows 10 which warns me the game is not optimized, but it runs fine. Also, I want to note I did not have to install Games for Windows Live when I installed fallout 3 through Steam, but when I click the warning Windows 10 gives me about the game not running properly, it sends me straight to an install link for GfWL which I decided to reinstall.
I had hoped to use the migrate method where you'd move the save files from My Games/Fallout 3 into whatever profile folder there is made from GfWL but after reinstalling and logging into my old account it didn't work.why I can't load my games?
Some (3, out of maybe 20) of my installed Programs, all working perfectly well, are not listed in Control Panel -> Programs and Features.
View 2 RepliesI've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.
When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.
So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an animation program soon and to get a laptop of the same caliber costs $1000+.
Is there anyway I can solve this freezing issue/loss of wifi on my own? I'm thinking of taking it back to the computer shop (they've had a hard time trying to find out what's wrong with it) but I'm sure they'll charge me again and I'm not willing to end up paying a lot to get this fixed. Might as well buy a new one if it costs more than $500 to fix...
P.S. I'm also having issues with my sound card where I'd plug in my headphones and it would work but when I take it out, my laptop would say it's still plugged in. Addtionally, my CD Rom Drive makes a loud sound when I try to skip through CDs and DVDs. Sometimes it won't even skip and just continue making the sound. I don't know how my laptop has gotten to this state as I've taken very good care of it (minus allowing a younger sibling to use it but you live and learn). These issues don't bother me much as I can use a DVD player for my DVD's and the sound issue isn't an issue for me. I don't really care for it since I use headphones 90% of the time or have the sound off.
while upgrading I was window 10 my phone completely corrupted & I try to install its software from windows device recovery tools while downloading in half showing proxy connection error and after pressing try again phone start to rebooting & show same error message after rebooting phone every time I try same problem is repeating
View 1 RepliesSo I installed w10 and worked fine but then stopped. I couldn't fix it so I downloaded windows 10 to a usb to reinstall.

My computer is a mess and I've got new parts coming and want to format all drives before that. I have windows 7 home premium on cd with key. In addition to SSD with the OS, I have two HDD disks that I want formatted aswell.
How do I get windows 10 back? Can I make a copy or something on a flash drive and install only windows 10 without having to upgrade from win7? Maybe it's possible to do a clean install of windows 10. I read something about a factory reset function, will this clean the drives and leave me with nothing but the OS? Thats what I want to achieve in the end.If I have to format, OS is currently on a SSD drive(Kingston v300, 120gb). Is the best option to format an SSD through the OS installation? Given that it's booted from a flash drive/CD. I have backed up everything I want to keep of course and uninstallled a lot of stuff to clean things up a bit and take care of all my local game files and such.
So I've already upgraded from WIn7 to Win10, but due to other circumstances, I am getting a new Mobo and CPU.
I have created a Win10 recovery flashdrive, and understood alternative methods to perform a clean reinstall, either using the recovery flashdrive, or the in-built recovery options. But what would be the best, and swiftest way to keep my WIn10 free upgrade once I've installed my new components, and maintaining my activation?
I was going to test my system after installing my parts, and see if I can boot into Win10. If I can, I will attempt to perform a clean reinstall straight away.
If not, I'd attempt to boot from the recovery drive, leaving my current version of Win10 on my primary drive, and reinstall again. Would this method maintain my activation?
If this fails, I am going to perform a system image or clone (which would be best) of my current Win10 system, and try to recover using this method.
Finally, the drawn out method of reinstalling Win7, updating and then trying to reinstall WIn10 would be my only other option. Having already upgraded to WIn10 from my version of WIn7, would this prevent me from re-upgrading for free again?
I need to reinstall my NVidia Geforce GT-610 drivers as I seem to be having problems with it (i.e distorted screen screen flashes sometimes etc.). How can I reinstall the drivers?
View 1 RepliesIn the past i have had to reinstall windows 8 multiple times because of stuff. but sense you had to have windows 8.1 pro activated to get windows 10 pro and keep its activation. what happens if i have to reinstall windows 10... how will i get a activation key without paying for it, or will i have to buy a activation key?
View 1 RepliesWell, it is a continuing issue. Over last two updates, I faced some issues with the metro apps. After the updates, some apps fail to work. Previously, when I installed the 10159 upgrade, some apps did not respond for the first time. The process that I followed was to uninstall the probleming apps using PowerShell and then install them back from store.
Now, with the 10166 upgrade, the store itself was the problem, alongwith two other apps. So I uninstalled store itself too (using powershell) .... and I think that I have done something very wrong. No way I am seeing to get those apps back in this situation. Is there any way to get store back without performing a clean reinstall?
I am currently running windows 10.
I did an upgrade and clean install from windows 8.1.
Now I want to reinstall windows 10, but when I'm entering the windows 10 or 8.1 key I receive an invalid key.
What can I do in order to get a valid windows key to work with the new windows 10 installation?
I originally got win10 through the free upgrade from 8.1 and did the install that only replaces system files etc. Some things weren't working correctly such as the sleep function and I kept being unable to login due to the start menu and Cortana not starting, so I decided to do a reset of the OS.
I managed to reset and get a fresh install of win10 but now I can't get activation to work. I've run all the windows updates and tried the slmgr.vbs /ato command but it says my product key is blocked.
OK so I installed and have been running W10 today. I noticed that I did not have a Quick Access link to my OneDrive. So I went to Programs and Features and found it in the programs list. I clicked on it thinking it would open up and allow me to change the settings. OOPs! It uninstalled OneDrive from the programs list. Now I can't find it anywhere on my computer, other than when I log in on the web page. So can I reinstall OneDrive and have it show in my file manager as a drive like it used to in WIN 8.1?
View 9 RepliesI'm wanting to reinstall Windows 10 on my SSD. Before I do I'll unplug the additional drives I have inside my PC for storage (E: onwards), to isolate the SSD. However, C: (disk1 in the screenshot below) has several partitions and unlabelled volumes that I'm guessing Windows created. Do I remove all of them during the install process?
View 4 RepliesMy laptop is of Lenovo make, model No. G510s Touch. I am using Windows10 operating system. My web camera driver (micro soft veraion 2015.1064.10.0) got corrupted with virus and camera stopped working.
View 6 RepliesI currently have Windows 10 installed on a Raid 0 of Two Samsung 840 Evo's. Because of a change in the way I am using the PC I need to disable the raid and leave them as separate drives.
The reason I am concerned is that windows 10 is bound to your Hardware, not you. So for me to reinstall windows after disabling raid would I need a new copy or would just installing windows 10 again work?
Alternately if I was to re-install windows 8.1 on my machine after disabling raid. Would I then be able to do the upgrade again and get windows 10 that way?
when I reset my PC due to a pop up war from IE running in the background, My PC seems to be running better but I am missing preinstalled apps. Facebook, twitter is not there and when I went to windows store the message is ..
You own this product it can be installed on this device
Shows the facebook icon and under it has the the file size and it just continues to say pending
So , I tiried the " fix " in powershell but some of the commands used do not exist it says. I even went to windows club to find out and their commands did not work in powershell either
I want to reinstall my windows 10 without losing all my data. Is there a program which can carry everything( including other programs) except the old os to the new install?
