View 2 RepliesI cleaned installed Win10 Pro using the Media Creation Tool and how come I only got 3 updates? I am assuming I would get more updates than these.
Running version 1511 build 10586
Is it because Win10 is too new ???
And I kept pressing the Check for Updates button and it said no more new updates.
After I installed Windows 10 from Windows 7 I noticed that if I searched for a programm such as lets say "iTunes" it won't show it to me as a programm but instead it will take me to the programm files. How can I make it show every program I had installed from windows 7?
View 1 RepliesIn add/remove programs I noticed 3 different times this happened, like 8 random programs install date will jump to the current date even though they had been installed for weeks already. It's not really causing any issues, just curious whats causing it to happen.
I tried checking event viewer to see if any errors where happening on the days this would happen, I noticed error id 1008
The Open Procedure for service "BITS" in DLL "C:WindowsSystem32bitsperf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the error code.
Got a perfect upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro for any programs that were on the boot disk. However any programs that were loaded on a second (non-bootable) disk were not recognized at all. Is there any way, other than reloading all those programs, to get Win10 Pro to know they are there? I thought this would be caught when the system upgraded but this did not happen. I was trying to keep my boot drive lean and mean.
View 5 RepliesMy HP Desktop computer came with windows 8.1 and several additional programs.
I have installed windows 10 and the programs and apps were still there.
Since I have done a refresh I have lost the HP installed programs and the apps.
On the desk top the program and app icons are monochrome.
I have found a few threads on here and other sites to try and fix it, but no such luck. I am not hitting that old 512 app limit, as I only have 242 installed:
PS C:WINDOWSsystem32> Get-StartApps | measure
Count : 242
Average :
Sum :
Maximum :
Minimum :
Property :
I also have tried rebuilding index, and removed everything and set to default. This does still include my start menu icons, which have apps. Any time I search though, NO app is found.

View 2 RepliesI have a new rig and made a clean install with Win 8.1 Pro.
After that I directly upgraded to Win 10 Pro within running system.
Are there any advantages to do now a clean Windows 10 installation?
Does upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 keeps all of your
installed programs
settings
desktop wallpaper
etc and etc ???
How would I go about reinstalling windows 10 on a new SSD? I've recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO 250gig SSD and would like to reinstall windows on it. I bought windows 10 around the time I made my PC (I did not get a free upgrade). So I have a product key and the orignal installation usb that came with it. Right now I have windows 10 running on my PC and installed on my HDD. Just wondering how to reinstall it on my new SSD for faster boot up.
View 1 RepliesMy motherboard manufacturer only has a file for the Windows 10 chipset driver but I remember in the past I was supposed to download the chipset software installation utility first if it was the first time doing a chipset driver on a new comp.
View 1 RepliesI was unable to update AVG free due to an error. It said that something was being installed (there wasn't though) and it had to be finished first. I got the same error when trying to uninstall it so I had to use an AVG tool to force remove it from my system (I had this error for days before removing it so a restart did not work). Now I don't have an antivirus on my pc and I get an installation error when trying to install it again. Instead, I tried Panda free this time. Error. So I'm thinking it's not the antivirus, it's something in windows 10 that's malfunctioning but I don't know what.

View 2 RepliesI'm about to do a clean install of Windows 10 pro 64bit on to a new SSD I just received in the mail and wondering how I will be able to activate it? I originally did an upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 pro and then a clean install from there back when Win10 pro first became available. I read that I can use the Windows Key on the back of my laptop but I'm not sure that will work because it's a whole new SSD.
View 6 RepliesAll the info I have found on a clean install has been about the Insider Preview, when the official upgrade is available at the end of July, will I be able to do a clean install?
View 6 RepliesMy PC was running 8.1 French version converted to English version (Reseller screwed up).In practice a lot of the stuff was displayed sometimes in Eng sometimes in French. I have the 8.1 French CD.So instead of doing the upgrade which I thought would result in another mishmash of languages, I did a clean install of 10 Home Eng via USB key downloaded install media.Apart from a few video probs (BSOD) blinking cursor, all went well.I cannot use 8.1 product key to activate. Looks like I may have to buy new product key for W10.
View 19 RepliesI had a licensed windows 7 PC and did the in-place upgrade to windows 10. However my main hard drive (an SSD) is too small and I want to upgrade it. I understand that if I do a clean install (from an ISO/USB) then windows 10 should still recognise my PC as it was activated.
However, if I change the hard drive (or add memory, add a graphics card etc) does windows still recognise my PC or do I have to go through the stupidty of installing windows 7, installing the service pack, waiting for the inplace upgrade to windows 10, activating, and then wiping everything in order to do a clean install!?!?!
