I bought my computer in spain and paid at the shop to have the language for w 8.1 to be in English. Will the upgrade be in English or Spanish. If Spanish what do i have to do to go to English.

I just tried to update to W10...BUT it simply opens up the install dialogs in FINNISH and says I can only perform a clean install and not keep my settings and files because the OS is different language than the one to be installed (Finnish).
how do I change the install language to English - I assume it just checks where I am and assumes everyone here wants a Finnish OS as force-feeds it to me. But a complete clean install just now is a big no-no, so I want it to install it in English instead.
I have windows 8.1 Pro Fin x64. I want to upgrade it to Windows 10 and keep my programs and settings unchanged and in upgrade change also system language to En-us in the upgrade process.
I have created using MS Media Creation Tool Windows 10 Pro x64 DVD.
If I change in Win 8.1 region, system locale, keyboard to English - Us and after that upgrade my win 8.1 to Windows 10 using the created DVD. Will the upgrade be successful and my new windows 10 automatic activated? After upgrade I change region, locale and keyboard to Finnish.
I know that I can change display language in Windows 10 to English, but I'm eager to change also system language to English when I upgrade.
Is this workaround to do the system language change?
I downloaded the Win10 Home single language ISO for a clean install on a new build PC and skipped the activation step during install. Now I need to activate. If I purchase a copy of Windows 10 Home in store or digitally, will I be able to use the product key in my current install without need to re-install?
View 7 RepliesI have a problem with a new Dell XPS 13 I bought in China. It apparently does not allow language packs, and I have a really hard time understanding most of the words. I tried returning the laptop and buying back in the USA, but the store didn't accept returns. Now I'm stuck with a basically useless computer that I bought for no reason and I need to install English onto the computer. Any ways I can do this?

Based on my email address will that give me a reasonably early download of Win 10 on my Win 7 computer? If not can I use the Install.esd to make a release version iso for my Win 7 computer?

I havent caught it in the act so I don't know exactly what it does when it restarts. I changed the update settings to notify me before restart so that shouldn't be the issue in this case.
View 9 RepliesI used to run Windows 7, 64 bit. Then I took the free upgrade to Windows 10. It took me 3 or 4 attempts to get it to download and install.
Now my computer shuts itself down when it thinks I am away from it. My husband and I run a law office out of our home, and I cannot babysit the computer all day. I need it to stay on until I turn it off.
Here are my power settings:
Turn off display - 20 hours and 10 minutes
Turn off hard disk - 2340 minutes (39 hours)
Sleep - never
Power button - do nothing
But it ignores me. It still turns off my computer all by itself if I am not there giving it constant keystrokes or mouse clicks. Totally unacceptable. If I can't fix this by the 5th, I am going back to 7.
Then I was counseled to o to the ControlPanel/Power Options On the left side, click ‘Choose what the Power button does’, un-check ‘Turn on fast startup’ and save my changes. But that did not work either - it still shut itself down the minute my back was turned. It seems I am not the only one with this problem.
I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and now my computer screen is really zoomed in. I have updated my latest graphics card drivers and have selected the highest screen resolution (1920x1080) and it still is really zoomed in (my desktop icons can't fit on the screen because it's so zoomed in). Also, just to be clear, it's zoomed in everywhere (on chrome, settings, file explorer, start menu, desktop etc.)

I have to remove the battery to get it restarted. If I barely move away from the computer, by the time I get back, same thing happens.

My hard drive shows 20 more GB of space but everything is gone that I used or saved on the computer. I did not back up everything since the info I read said I would not loose this information.
Is there any way to retrieve it or roll back the hard drive to Windows 7 and retrieve the data I lost?

View 1 RepliesI've been trying to update to the latest build for some time now, I'm currently on 9926. The update downloads fine and it also goes through the process of installation fine, up until it's time to restart the computer for the final step, that's where the problem begins. It gets stuck on a boot up loop, it loads to the windows logo and says preparing automatic repair and restarts the computer again and again with the "preparing automatic repair" message. I made an installation disc for 9926 so that's how I'm able to reset the computer but I've also made one for the latest build but I still get the same boot up loop problem. I really want to be on the latest build and I'm worried that I won't even be able to install the official release.

Currently I have 2 keyboard layouts installed (German, which I use and English) My display language is English, and it seems I cannot remove the English keyboard layout. It all went well, only that 5 minutes ago the "tablet side" of the Windows 10's schizophrenic mind started to speak japanese... the rest is still in english, its just the apps and the tablet things that appear in japanese now. Now, is there a big red language button somewhere that will make my WHOLE system appear in english?
View 2 RepliesTrying to update to W10 1511 10586. (From W10 10240) Tried normal update method from settings. Fails every time no error code just says it will try again. ( tried sfc /scannow no errors.)
So downloaded ISO media. Tried to install, it gets into installing then stops saying "trying to install different language" so can't keep all apps and files. All Language set to English-UK, tried changing to English-US still no joy. Tried reinstalling earlier W10 10240 media from CD and get "Install failed" box.
1) Is there a way of finding what W10 thinks is the original install language?
2) How do I find the error code for the failed install so I can find out more about what is causing the failure.
I have a small problem with languages in windows 10 (originally the same problem was in win8, but I didn't solve it there as well).
I bought the laptop with german windows. But whole my life I worked with english UI interface. I know what and where I should search any setup features and how they call in english version. And of course with german laptop I got a german keyboard, that a little bit different from the english one (and that is the cause of my problem, because only letters Y and Z are changed).
After the win10 installation I downloaded and installed language pack as recommended and make one as primary language. Beside it i have german language (because it match with keyboard layout) and russian language (as native). BUT, I don't need to have an english language in language bar at all, because I have the same german with correct keyboard layout. I would like to switch between only two layouts: DE and RU.
Question: how to get rid the english keyboard from language bar, leaving the english UI at the same time?
I set it to my lanugage Turkey as TUR whenever I restart or close and open the pc the the language changes. I just want the keyboard language to stay on TUR.

However after trying all means I couldn't alter the display language.In the settings-region and language-language-add a language/I am able to add any language in here but when I click options in one of the added language, there's no option of "download language pack" as many tutorials on internet.I have tried under English (United Kingdom) "set language as primary" but after restart, nothing's changed . Still display Chinese.
In control panel-add a language-options-windows display language/Again there's no option of setting a new language as display language, it says under windows display language "not available in this version of Windows" (something like this, I did the translation).I can add or change input keyboard without problem.The version of windows currently in my laptop is "Windows 10 Home Chinese Version" (something like this, again I did the translation). Is this the reason I can't change display language?
In build 10240 I can download a Danish language pack in Settings. However I can't set it as primary... How to do this?
View 5 RepliesSo every time I boot windows 10 it seems to think I want that useless language bar (who doesn't know what language their machine is using?) after having disabled it every time prior.
What files to delete in order to force it to be unable to activate the language bar?
also it seems win 10 isn't letting me delete the u.s or n.z language packs despite only ever using the U.K pack for got knows what reason.
As you can see on screen, I changed language from German to Slovak ,but not all text have changed.
