Windows Desktop Won't Properly Size On Screen

Nov 11, 2015

I can't get the desktop to properly size up on my screen. You can notice in the screenshot (in the lower right corner) that part of the taskbar is cut off. I have tried making adjustments via the NVIDIA control panel to no avail.

I'm using a 50" Plasma HDTV and it is hooked up to my PC via HDMI. My previous HDTV was a 42" LCD and I never had a problem with desktop size and position.

How To Change Overall Windows Screen Size

Oct 25, 2015

I recently have started plugging in my laptop to a TV using HDMI to play a few games. However when I do so, the screen is cut on the TV display, so I miss an inch or two on each size. I have tried adjusting every setting under the sun on my tv, and laptop to try and change this without any success so I was wondering is there a program I can use to temporarily change the size of the windows display to bring it in by an inch. Obviously this would look odd on my laptop screen but would work on my Tv screen.

Decrease The Size Of The Icons On Desktop

Dec 19, 2015

What do I keep doing to decrease the size of the icons on my desktop? It's not killing me, but it's INCREDIBLY annoying to have to resize the icons every three minutes. This never happened in Windows 8.1 by the way.

Changing Desktop Font And Taskbar Size

Nov 24, 2014

I just installed Build 9879 over Windows 7 on a spare machine and it went as expected except for the size of the Icon fonts and size of the taskbar. They both are much larger than they were on Win 7. I can't remember how to make them smaller. I make the icons themselves smaller (medium) by using View on the desktop but the fonts and taskbar are way to big. How to reduce them under Win 10?

Screen Size Too Small For Monitor - How To Make It To Fit The Screen

Dec 4, 2015

I upgraded to Windows 10. The entire screen shows up in about 75% of my monitor with the rest black. It's not that the fonts are too small, it's just that it makes my monitor look a lot smaller and I cannot seem to get it to fill up the entire monitor like Windows 8.

Open New Windows On Active Monitor (Screen / Desktop)?

Feb 26, 2016

Without any third party software: Can I with Windows 10 set new windows to open on the monitor (with dual monitor setup) from which it was launched?

By default Windows opens a new window on the monitor on which it was used last. So if I close file explorer on monitor 1, the launch it from monitor 2's start menu, it will still open on monitor 1 because that is where it was last active, even though I launched it from monitor 2.

Changing Font Size Of Desktop Icon Label

Feb 10, 2016

I wish to know if there is a way to change the font size/style (bold, etc.) of the icon labels ONLY on the desktop screen.

I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.

E.g. Labels on the desktop with size 12 and bold. Fonts in folders: size 9 and UNbolded (default style).

Apps :: Desktop Icons Super Small Size

Dec 30, 2015

So, I decided to just do a reinstall of Windows 10 after having a couple of issues and downloading software such as iObit that is questionable at best (just found that out, glad I did some research online) and everything has been going really smoothly in terms of updating programs, apps, etc., but I just found this weird glitch or bug if you will. Take a look at the screenshot attached. Doing the simple ctrl+mouse wheel will make the desktop icons larger or smaller, but for some reason the text size is still SUPER small. My resolution settings are normal for Windows 10 (250% recommended) and I've never encountered this issue before.

After Windows Update Can't Use Tablet Like On Screen Keyboard In Desktop Mode?

Sep 25, 2015

A few weeks back on my Surface Pro 3, I was able to view my desktop and have the tablet style on screen keyboard popup in text fields. Now if I'm in desktop mode, windows does not load the tablet style on screen keyboard when touching an input box and the keyboard icon is gone from the systray. If I'm in tablet mode, the keyboard works like it should, but I'm not able to click on a show desktop icon somewhere. Is there a way to be able to see my desktop *and* use the tablet style keyboard that auto-pops up?

Also in chrome, I am unable to click anything except the X button to close it. So far I'm regretting my upgrade to windows 10!

Improve Screen Size?

Nov 9, 2015

I have just update a dell tablet to win 10. I would like to increase the screen viewing area and have auto hidden the task bar.

My question is about the 2 top bars, ( not sure of the correct names ). Can either of these bars be hidden/removed/disabled and so increase the screen size.

I know how to go full screen when I reach my target page, its just in the general viewing scenario that I wish a larger viewing size.

Computer Doesn't Power On Properly When Wake Up - Stuck On Blank Screen

Apr 11, 2016

Whenever I on my computer after I wake up or come back from work, my windows sometimes do not boot up fully. it will load and then gets stuck on an empty orange screen (might be related to the fact that I have orange set as my colour theme for my windows 10). I will then hold on to the power button on my computer to force a shutdown. Right after that, I will power on again and the computer starts up fine.

This has been occurring for a while - I didn't have this issue when I first installed (upgraded from windows 8) windows 10.

I tried googling my issue, and I have turned off Fast Start-up under power options but it did not solve the problem.

Windows Search (Cortana) Not Working Properly With Start Menu

Aug 20, 2015

I've upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro. Everything is fine and Windows are working very smooth and nice. But there is one thing that really bothers me: Windows Search (including Cortana) does not find links to programs inside the Start Menu.

Now before you ask, I have re-built the Windows Indexer. Several times. I've also checked to see that .lnk files are being indexed. The Start Menu Folders (inside the c:Program Data and c:users[username]App Data) are both being selected as index locations. Actually, the search is able to find folders inside the Start Menu files, but not the files themselves.
