View 7 RepliesI am reasonably computer literate (started when Win 3.1 was the current OS) but new to Win 10 which I have just acquired pre installed on a new PC.
I use WLM and got it running well on two separate accounts on my PC. I then looked at Outlook to see if it was any better. On returning to WLM I got an error message as shown below. This now appears every time I open WLM on that account, on the other account there is no problem.
"Unable to send or receive messages for the Live (granddaddy3) account.

I have a customer that upgraded to Windows 10 the other day and, but not been able to find any solutions ...
I refuse to believe that Microsoft would have omitted this basic function. How does one Import from Windows Live Mail into the Windows 10 Mail App?
View 6 RepliesI have backup copies of my windows mail files on a portable hdd (JRS, Text docs, XML and PAT files) These were created on my old Vista PC. I am now using a new PC with Windows 10 and would like to import them. I have no way of exporting them to create a CSV file. How do I go about this?
View 4 RepliesUpdated to Windows 10 from Windows 8,1 on a Dell computer. Have been getting error code of 0x800706be on for Windows Mail, People, and Calendar. All worked fine with Windows 8.1. This is the only issue with Windows 10.

View 4 RepliesHow do I set up Windows Live Mail on my new Windows 10 computer ?
View 3 RepliesJust yesterday, my WLM decided NOT to open. Don't know what happened, but super annoying.
I upgraded to Windows 10 about 6 months ago, and it was working fine. I'm using a PC that is about 7 years old, but kept clean and updated regularly.
I am enjoying Windows 10! for the most part....
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro does fine.
Core i7-4500U
256 SSD
8 GB or RAM
This may be more of a networking issue and how the Mail App communicates over the network. I am not able to sync any of my email accounts with the Mail app. Thus far, I have only attempted two different Gmail accounts. I followed one thread and disabled the firewall temporarily: this did the trick. However, I would rather not disable my firewall so very often... is there a more permanent workaround?
I am not using Windows Defender fyi. I am using 2015 AVG Internet Security. I attempted to add the Mail app to the list of applications that could bypass the firewall by going to AVG Options -> Firewall Settings -> Applications, but the Mail App is not very easy to find... I checked the most obvious place: Windows -> SystemApps and didn't know where else to look.
When I click on WLM icon, the program not only logs me in without a password but also creates a Sign-In that will not accept the verizon email password? Sign-in attempts to log me into Microsoft site and change my WLM password as well. What is happening here?
View 2 RepliesI have 71 names in my contacts list that I can't delete. When I upgraded to Windows 10, I started using Windows Live Mail. I imported some contacts from a .csv file. Others were imported from another file. I deleted that file after the import. When I open my contacts the names imported from the csv file shows "address book" under the names. The names that were imported from the other file, don't say anything.
Later I tried to deleted all contacts. When I try to delete the "other file" contacts, the DELETE button is grayed out. I can send mail using these contacts. But I want most of them off my list. I deleted all the accounts I had on WLM and uninstalled/reinstalled WLM. The contacts are still there. I am not using any social medias that could be tied to it. I have used Skype. But the names in my contacts are not from there.
Since Windows 10 downloaded, my Windows Live Mail will not let me open any of the links in my incoming emails? Is this some sort of security setting or default problem??
View 8 RepliesI've always used windows live mail as i never liked the one that comes with win 8 or 10. For some reason i can't get Windows Live Mail to close right in windows 10. When i click on the icon it opens fine and downloads my incoming mail but when i click close it doesn't close or takes 30 seconds+ to close.

View 6 RepliesI've upgraded my wife's laptop to W10. (She hated/despised W8, W8.1, until I installed the Start8 shell.) Whereas W10 is a great improvement, the bundled email software is not.
W10's mail program does not allow new folders to be created (you can add pre-existing ones, but you cannot make your own); it does not allow you to look at all unread emails (you've got to go into each account); the upgrade process wiped out all her contacts (I'm hoping they still exist somewhere on her hard-drive).
How do I reinstall Windows Live Mail?
I cannot send emails from my laptop either with windows live mail or thunderbird all setting have been checked and rechecked I can send emails if I use the build in mail app and my outlook account I can also send emails via webmail it's just as if something is blocking outgoing mail ! Each time I try I just find the email sitting in the outbox and a error message saying unable to send or in the case of thunder bird just get the green line showing progress and it just sits there.
View 1 RepliesA good friend of mine went ahead and updated from Win 7 to win 10 without backing up anything (despite my objections) and now has windows live mail but any of his old email messages are gone. I would suspect they are in the windows. Old folder in .app but not sure. Does windows 10 store the emails in the .app file like win 7? I am using Win 7 and will upgrade once I know that everything is working with 10.

I am using Windows Live Mail on Windows 10 . When I receive an email to one address ,it appears in both !! How to get an email to one address only goes to that address and not both
I have come here after receiving zero support from Microsoft, for Windows 10!
I completed what appeared to be a relatively trouble-free upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, but have now found that whenever I try to attach or insert anything into an email with WLM 2012, it immediately says 'Not responding' in Task Manager. My only option is to 'End task' in Task Manager, thus losing my partially written email.
Ever since I changed over to Windows 10, I have had a problem with using the "Safe Sender" option in Windows Live Mail. Everything else works great, but when I send an email address to Safe Sender, or add it manually, the name goes in the list but won't stay there if WLM is restarted. That is, the next time WLM is brought up again, the recent additions are missing again. It is as if the Safe Sender additions were only stored in temporary memory that is wiped out every time WLM is restarted.
I have repaired Windows Essentials in "Programs and Features" twice - to no avail.
Nothing submitted in Safe Sender will stay permanently on the list since Windows 10.
I upgraded to windows 10 and downloaded windows live mail, it works, but when I download new emails it deletes all old and unread emails.
Yesterday I turned on sync as suggested, then I downloaded 10 new emails, I opened 5 and left 5 unopened. This morning I downloaded my emails, as before all previous emails downloaded yesterday disappeared.
I use Windows Live Mail, and every time I create a category in my contacts, add 25 names, I come back to find that it has been deleted. Is there a limit to the amount of contacts it holds? How to permanently save a category?
