I am enrolled in the Insider program, upgrading from 8.1. My current build is 10162 and when I check for updates, no updates are available. However, I've been receiving a message every 5 minutes that my build is expiring soon and once it does, I will not be able to boot my pc. When I go to Settings, I am presented with the option to activate Windows, but when I click the link, I am taken to the store with error code 0x80000FFFF.
I'd also like to stop Insider builds and just get regular windows updates. However, when I click the Stop Insider builds button in Settings>Advanced Options, I get a popup that says 'We need you to do a few things to stop receiving builds." with a link that says "how to I opt out..." When I click the link it opens a browser window that just says that I need to click Stop Insider builds, confirm and restart my pc. But I am not presented with that option. I have a little over a week before my build expires, and short of reverting back to 8.1 then upgrading sans insider builds.
I'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 build 10240 on my Lenovo X220 laptop. I've subscribed to receive Insider builds on the fast ring, but every time I check for updates I am told "Your device is up to date", and no available updates are shown.
Previously it was working fine; I was receiving regular definition updates for Windows Defender and a number of updates for Windows 10 x64-based systems. Then, a few weeks ago I was offered "th2_professional_10525" (at least, I think that was the name), but this update appeared to fail, and on rebooting the laptop I got the message "Something went wrong..." at the logon screen.
I believe build 10565 is now available on the fast and slow ring. I've changed to the slow ring but still get the "Your device is up to date" message when I check for updates.
How can I get Windows Update to recognise that a later build is available?
This may be because the Insider's program is suspended for the release but still getting "Insider builds need attention" with Fix button on the settings page that doesn't do anything other than try to remove you?
I am running windows insider preview on my Acer iconia. On july 29 when Windows 10 is launched, can i upgrade it directly or do i have to restore windows 8.1 and then upgrade to windows 10
I registered for windows insider preview but I never installed the preview builds. My pc is now running with windows 10 installed. I'm just curious if my PC has the build for insiders. I'm a little bit worried about my PC sending telemetry data to Microsoft.
I have Win 10 preview build 10240 and up to date.I want to continue as windows insider, but I want to update to the final version, So if I wanted to remain as an insider, should I upgrade to the final version and connect it with my insider account or stay with my current build 10240....
I've been part of the insider build progragrame for about 3 months before windows 10 was released. Ive been updating my builds regularly but unfortunately just before the full windows was release i went on a trip and Ive come back today. I don't know how to get the full windows and get out of the insider builds programe.
My motherboard died, and I had to get a new one. I bought the same model. The rest of hardware on my PC remained the same. After that upgrade my Windows 10 isn't activated any more.
I don't have Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 licence, but I am early Windows 10 Insider, and I recieved free Insider builds. They had expiration date, so I had to keep ugrading to new builds, and stay in the Insider program to retain my free "licence". I was doing so, and I provided feedback to Microsoft about every build.
I was hoping that "minor" hardware change wouldn't affect my Windows 10 activation, because all Insiders should have free "licence" that is tied to my Microsoft e-mail account?
Now my Windows 10 Insider 10586 build isn't activated. How can I activate it? Shouldn't all Insider versions be free? Should I sign for Windows Insider program all over again?
For a few weeks I'm already stuck in Build 10166 of the Windows Insider program, Microsoft said that insiders would receive the launch version before public but I still haven't received an update to the final version yet. However non insiders already have the final version. I'm refreshing the Windows Update every half an hour and it only gives me Windows Defender updates every now and then.
My SP3 was originally on Win 8.1. I used Microsoft's media creation tool to create a USB installer for Win 10, then upgraded to Win 10 from usb. After upgrading, I verified that Win 10 was activated. I then booted from the USB installer and did a clean install.
The strange thing is, every few days, "Activate Windows" would appear on the bottom right of my screen. When I try to activate windows, I get this:
However, sometimes upon restarting the SP3 it would be activated again.
I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It has already been activated. This Windows 10 installation is on the hard disk. I installed a new SSD drive in the system and did a clean install of Windows 10 on it. Unfortunately the Windows on the SSD drive fails to activate.
I talked Microsoft support and they told me to install Windows 7 on the SSD drive and then upgrade it to Windows 10. That seems like lot of work, especially since I have already installed Windows 10 on the SSD drive.I could clone the hard disk to SSD but I would rather start with a clean Windows 10.
I recently upgraded my PC with an SSD and installed Windows 10 onto it. I still have my old HDD attached with all my old windows files, etc. I was wondering if there is a way to basically re-activate my programs that were installed on my old HDD. I would like to be able to manage them in my control panel.
I have this week completed building my new Pc and I have received a message in settings you need to activate windows 10 which was a free download in July 2015 as I was upgrading from windows 7,however the product code I have does not work and Microsoft said I will have to buy a new key is this correct.
My laptop is Leveno running Window 10. I got BSOD a lot recently, sometimes while using the laptop surfing on the Internet and sometimes activating it from standby. The errors I got were Critical Process Died, 000021a, and kernel error I have uploaded the error files for your interpretation.
Start button ceasing to work? I can't access many programs that I don't have as desktop shortcuts. None of the notification icons in the systray activate, so I can't access the notify center or change my wireless signal. I've seen this answered on many other forums, but none of the fixes seem to work for me.
I'm still not certain if the new builds that come out,( eg 10586.36, and now 10586.63) also contain all the latest Windows security updates as well? (not referring to defender updates I know they are distinct)
I've noticed that my Windows 10 PC (which had 10 installed from new, it is NOT an upgrade) has the latest build 10586.63 but I don't see any separate windows security updates coming along with them. Is having the latest build number 10586.63 mean that the OS has all the up to date security updates as well, including the .net security updates....
I have genuine windows 7 sp1 installed on my i5 laptop and i wanted to install latest windows 10 build in my laptop so i downloaded and run windows 10 technical preview app. it said getting ready to update for few minutes and then it opened windows updates and windows updates after checking for updates said that no updates are available.. i have restarted windows but problem is same.
I am wondering how do I register to be able to download the preview version or developers version of Windows 10 when it arrives. Do I need to install an app on the phone or what? Like we used to do for windows 8.1, that Developer Preview app?
I hear that insider program is same for phones and pc's too, i recently bought a new laptop. it has 8.1 pre installed, i dont want unpolished software on it. whereas my 520 is almost 2 years old ie perfect for testing ,so if i join insiders program will i have to download it on my pc also ??
I got my license to be an Insider. My Windows 8.1 was updated to 10 normally by the same software. Now I want to do a clean installation of Windows 10. But I want to know: If I do a clean install of Windows 10 that is reformatted my hard drive, insider lose my license? Which version should I install windows to keep my license Insider? .To be insider I mean I used pirated windows and got into the program and achieve microsoft Insider get my free upgrade to Windows 10.
