View 1 RepliesKeep getting the message 'Windows Smart Screen can't be reached at the moment' when trying to open a downloaded file,
View 1 RepliesWhen I try to turn smart screen on, the options are greyed out, and I am told that "this setting is managed by your system administrator". I tried running the reg file "Set_SmartScreen_to_get_administrator_approval.reg" but it didn't change anything.
View 1 RepliesI had Windows 8.1 Pro and upgraded to Windows 10 via Windows Update. I can't set as lock screen this service that personalize it. I can do it on my laptop! I don't have Paint either.
View 3 RepliesHow do you slow down the scroll speed of Asus smart gesture? I am using Windows 10 and my ELAN touchpad will not work.
View 1 RepliesI'm using HP 15-n061sr with Windows 10 SL and SSD Plextor PX-128M6Pro.
Right after the upgrade from Windows 8.1, I started to experience SMART error on reboot, and only on reboot. I mean that if I just turn the laptop off and on it doesn't happen. It says that SMART detected a possible imminent failure of my disk. If I press "Continue startup", it says something like "insert boot device" or that it can't detect an operating system. Then I can go to BIOS options and restart from there - it boots up flawlessly. This happens every time I reboot. I upgraded 2 days ago. I have the latest SSD drivers. I used Windows' disk optimization tool. SSDLife Pro says disk health is fine.
P.S. I once had imminent failure problem with my previous SSD, but it happened once and it never started again; I got the refund under warranty.
When I boot up my computer (to windows 10). It will do the Asus splash screen then instead of going straight to windows if does this black screen with the kinda terminal thing (with no writing/text) then goes on to windows. Does this affect my computer?
View 1 RepliesAny way to force windows to not allow a window to partially go off the screen? With a large display and high resolution I have no need for a window to "overflow" off the display.
View 6 RepliesOk, here's the situation: I know how to use WINDOWS BUTTON + PrtScr to capture a screen image. However I would like to print/save an image where this won't work.
I'm trying to run an application I have downloaded (Samsung Allshare), but when I double click it my whole screen goes to a blank Windows screen with a single message box in the middle. This is a "User Account Control" message box. This is what I want to capture. However the "WINDOWS BUTTON + PrtScr" method doesn't seem work here (the only option here is to close this box and return to normal!), and because its an otherwise blank screen, I can't use Snipping Tool or other windows capture features.
Screenshot here.
Just installed Windows 10 on a new SSD, and all maximized window borders don't reach where they're supposed to.
As you can see, the top border makes contact but the left, right, and bottom borders do not. Every window I've tried has done this except for, for some reason, Steam. Even the standard Explorer windows do this.
Another annoying issue: In Windows 7 and 8, you could click and drag the top of a maximized window, and it would automatically shrink and allow you to move it around. In Windows 10, the only way I can move a maximized window is if I restore down it first, then move it and re-maximize it. It was because I had Aero Snap disabled.
get stuck on the windows Screen and i have tried to do the factory reset and got an error saying it failed. Just wondering if there is anything else i can try. Other things i have tried is unplugging his computer and holding the power down for 30 seconds then plugging it back in i have tried to do a system restore which didn't work.
View 1 RepliesSo it started this morning:
I turned on my pc and it froze right after it passed the Blue windows logo screen. A black screen appeared with no cursor.
I rebooted the pc (through the reset button) and everytime it got stuck at the black screen and then rebooted on its own. After a few rounds of black screen and reboots, I got the advanced repair options but it couldn't repair anything.
A very few times that it did manage to go boot and go to the desktop, it froze and didn't let me open any files or folders. Also when I mouse over the files, a black box appears around the icons and the file names appear garbled
I haven't installed anything lately that might cause this to happen.
He has just upgraded his windows 7 home premium to windows 10 by using the dvd iso that he downloaded all went well.
Now his question is when the pc starts up and the welcome screen comes up he has chosen a picture but underneath the circular picture it still says welcome to Windows 7,He thinks that should be Windows ten or something else not Windows 7.
Every time I switch on my PC I get to the loading Windows screen and then my PC reboots, it only does this once and on second boot it boots into Windows fine, even tried a fresh install on Windows and it's still the same, can't see anything in the event log only this.
The last shutdown's success status was false. The last boot's success status was false. All drives are up to date, PC running fine with no issues apart from the above, I don't use sleep or hibernate and power to the PC is switched off from the mains.
I recently upgraded to windows 10 from 7 and at first my windows had gotten corrupted so I reinstalled my PC and everything was fine until it blue screened then after that it has randomly crashed my PC without a blue screen ....
View 1 RepliesI rebooted to have updates installed and the percentages completed on both shutdown and boot up.
After the updates completed now when I turn my computer on it just stays on the blue background screen with the dots spinning around in a circle. I'm able to press Crrl Alt Del and get to the screen with ease of access, shutdown, and connect to the Internet, but can't go anywhere else.
Have tried restarting from that prompt as well and it still never gets to the login screen.
I ahve a desktop running windows 10. This last week I've been running into shutdowns that never stop. The blue screen that says "windows is shutting down" never goes away. In the end I'm forced to hold the power button to kill my pc (which I hate).
PC Specs:
Windows 10 Home
i5-3570K
8 GB RAM
So I'm upgrading from windows 8.1 to 10 on my HP laptop. And I'm on the "upgrading windows" screen but its now stuck on 92% and has been like that for 1 hour or more. How to fix this?
View 1 RepliesI recently have started plugging in my laptop to a TV using HDMI to play a few games. However when I do so, the screen is cut on the TV display, so I miss an inch or two on each size. I have tried adjusting every setting under the sun on my tv, and laptop to try and change this without any success so I was wondering is there a program I can use to temporarily change the size of the windows display to bring it in by an inch. Obviously this would look odd on my laptop screen but would work on my Tv screen.
View 1 RepliesI tried to upgrade my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 but after it restarted, it got stuck on the loading screen.
Windows 10 (x86 build 10130)
I don't know if I changed a setting or what but I can't get Windows to show me the Lock Screen. I have it like this. I put it in Slideshow with a custom folder where I keep all my wallpapers. is a slideshow lockscreen settings in one side, a normal savescreen setting in another. If I had to set my screen to turn off after a certain time or not. I just want the frickin lockscreen to start whenever, let's say, 30 min have passed. Only thing I get it's my screen turned off.
View 1 RepliesHow to change the windows lock screen picture and make it into a slideshow?
View 2 RepliesI can't get the desktop to properly size up on my screen. You can notice in the screenshot (in the lower right corner) that part of the taskbar is cut off. I have tried making adjustments via the NVIDIA control panel to no avail.
I'm using a 50" Plasma HDTV and it is hooked up to my PC via HDMI. My previous HDTV was a 42" LCD and I never had a problem with desktop size and position.
Just checking all my apps today as I have just done a backup and found windows store not working. I have tried wsreset in an elevated command prompt but no difference.
Windows store just comes up with a black screen then this, any fix (see screenshot).
Is there a way to find the screen on time for your device running windows 10?
If there is no built in way to do this, is there any 3rd party program that can measure screen on time (SOT measures how many hours your screen is on as a way of testing battery life) ...
I need that option back of Windows 7, where you would be offered with multiple user login screen. I am up for pretty long, so might not be making myself clear, so explaining more. I have two accounts (offline accounts), A and B, and when I turn on or Restart my desktop I want both the user account login option on the login screen, NOT the stupid way it does now, by straightly logging into the last accessed account.
I would like to do it without installing any additional software, if possible.
When I got to start --> settings --> windows update, it just stays on a white loading screen. It never shows anything and just keeps the loading thingy.. I made a screenie:
So I can't see if there are any updates. This has been like this the last 3/4 weeks I think. it used to work just fine. And is there any way I can check if the latest updates/build is installed?
