View 6 RepliesAll of my games look like they are in 3D. I can't fix it and I ran a full scan of my system and it found nothing. BEFORE YOU ASK. I have unplugged it, restarted it, and set my control panel for nvidia back to default. The only thing left is to wipe the OS completely and I don't really want to do that.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Win 10 and when I go to the Control Panel, by default it opens as Large icons. I change it to Category as that is how I want it to open but it keeps on defaulting back to what I don't want.
View 3 RepliesDon't know where to start really, this is the third time I have had to upgrade from 8.1 to 10 as I keep having problems. The latest started with my printer queue not clearing deleted files and now when I go to control panel it is hanging , will not close down unless I restart the pc( it was fine before the printer problem) now it is continually searching for any latest updates but getting nowhere. I also noticed that when trying to print off photos that it does not always send the files to the print queue. I did reload Gimp the latest version on a couple of days ago, and wonder if this has done something to the registry.
View 1 RepliesI figured out how to put Windows update in control panel without any secondary software. I used Brink's Add Group Policy to Control panel registry hack in the sevenforums.com as a template.
I modified to look like this.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}]@="Windows Update" "InfoTip"="Starts Windows Update (With Shortcut Key)""System.ControlPanel.Category"="5"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}DefaultIcon]@="C:WindowsSystem32imageres.dll, 74"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}Shell][HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}ShellOpen][HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}ShellOpenCommand] @="control /name microsoft.WindowsUpdate"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerControlPanelNameSpace{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}]@="Add Windows Update to Control Panel"
The only thing I can't figure out is where the default Windows update icon is. I created one for my system but.. I don't know who would like it. Just change imageres.dll to your icon file with the number or just change the ",74" to another icon in imageres.dll
Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}DefaultIcon] @="C:WindowsSystem32imageres.dll, 74"
Now that I've got Win10,, I was looking around and clicking on stuff to see what was under the hood, I found that you can get to the Old Control Panel like in Win 7, problem is I don't remember how I got there. I don't particularly care for the new Settings menu in 10 but I guess if there is't enough complaints about it, I guess were stuck with it. I do like 10, there are some issues but just like with new stuff, you get bugs.

View 3 RepliesInstalled Win10 and have the following problems.
1) I have no sound; Sound icon on task bars says "No audio Output Device Installed." When I run troubleshooter, it says Troubleshooting couldn't detect the problem.
2) Control Panel: When I click on control panel it opens, however, it shuts down in 15 seconds.
I'm not a techno person. Dummy me didn't back up before I installed and now I can kick myself.
this small problem started when my control panel wouldn't open, when I try it's like my entire desktop gets refreshed (black flicker) and half the app icons in the notification are disappear with no sign of the control panel opening.
I have looked around and found a couple "solutions" but none work tried this in cmd (admin) "sfc /scannow" which ends with no issues found.then tried this which also found nothing.

So I finally just tried a reset of my computer removing all personal files, apps and settings but that didn't work still have the same problem but now I have more problems!....my audio has stopped working, the icon has the speaker with the little red circle and white cross and when I hover over it it says "The Audio Service is not running." when I click on it it opens up a troubleshoot window which doesn't work it goes through the process and end with a "Not Fixed" and when I click the "Explore additional options" it does that stupid screen refresh thing like when trying to open the control panel, and after I reinstalled my VPN my internet wont work.
Today the Control Panel will not appear and Programs and Features is Missing. Also, I can not enter BIOS.
I cleaned and removed spyware to no avail.
After using a pc optimization program called Wise Care 365 I noticed that the windows 10 control panel is completely gone. Even when I search "control panel" it doesn't show up.

View 8 RepliesI am unable to find my Control Panel today. I see the words control panel when I right click on the menu after clicking on the start button. But nothing happens. It does not open. View 4 RepliesWhen I had Windows 7, I put a shortcut to Control Panel in the startup folder (I used to need it to start at startup). Now I am on Windows 10 and it still starts at startup. I deleted from the folder (looked up where it was) and checked in task manager if it was set to run at startup but it wasn't there.
View 2 RepliesI find the control panel is a bit awkward to find and usually just luck that I find it on advanced setting for something to other. Is there any way to have the full control panel (not that settings nonsense) on the start menu, pin or otherwise?
I can pin it to the task bar if it's open, but I like a clean task bar, not cluttered with stuff that should be in the start menu.
After upgrading to Win 10 I noticed three old folders that are unusable, which are circled in the below picture. How can I get ride of them?
View 8 RepliesAfter latest update I find that Control Panel is no longer working --it starts (displays) and then locks up and then disappears after a few seconds. Is my system broken or is control panel now disabled )get to it via Right mouse from Windows start button).
