When I go to a web sit, windows can't open it. when I run troubleshoot I get the message : windows can't detect networks proxy settings. I only have this problem since I downloaded windows 10.
View 1 RepliesThis issue happened after I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on my HP computer. We also have another older Dell computer, on which this issue did not occur after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I followed advise from an IT technician provided about this issue with Windows 8.1 including editing the registry (Internet Settings and Default Connection Settings) and have no trouble accessing the internet. However, typically after every day or every other day (at most after three days) turning my computer on after being off overnight, the internet connection settings revert back from automatically detect settings to proxy server.
I do not use a proxy server and cannot access the internet when this occurs. This keeps happening even though I go back and reedit the register. What can be done to permanently fix this problem? I am currently using Internet Explorer 11 instead of Edge until Microsoft comes out with their update in early November that allows extensions. I use Norton 360 and cannot use this program with Edge until extensions are allowed, because of security on the internet.
Since this does not happen with the Dell computer, I checked the settings mentioned by the IT Technician and found that the following Internet Settings were not present in the registry: ProxyHttp.1 (or ProxyHttp1_1) and ProxyServer. Will it harm my HP computer if I delete these two from the registry so that the Internet Settings will be the same as those on the Dell computer, which as pointed out above does not have this problem? Also, for ProxyServer the IT technician indicated that there should be no value for this in the registry.
I recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 and have been encountering problems since then.When I try to access any website using my mobile's hotspot all the browsers except firefox show the same message that is "Can’t connect to the proxy server".
So I went into proxy setting and saw that whole area was grayed out and at the top was a message saying "Some setting are managed by your organisation ". The first option in proxy settings is "Automatically detect setting" and it was turned on but because it was grayed out, I couldn't change it.Then I typed internet options in the search bar and clicked on it and a dialogue box appeared and in it I click connections tab and right at the bottom was a message saying "Some settings are managed by your system administrator.
I went into LAN settings and there too everything was grayed out and the automatically detect settings box was checked here too.This problem is not confined only to browsers but my in my Steam account I cannot update my games and also when I try to access news from the steam client it gives and error code.I did a bit of research about that code and found that it was related to proxy.Even my windows update is not working. Every time I try to update it it just stucks at 0% for hours.
I am the only owner of my computer. And all the proxy options are grayed out.. ! "Some settings are managed by your organization" . I am using Windows 10 Pro.

Perhaps there's a simpler way than export, delete key, if wrong result import saved registry file. Have I missed a setting somewhere to set the network location?
I have an HP G42-154CA that I'm trying to get Windows 10 Pro installed on.
I ran into an issue with the installation disc not detecting the hard drive (ie, no hard drive is listed when the screen appears to select the hard drive to install Windows on).
I've tried various drivers (latest from HP and Intel website, OEM OS installation discs etc) with no luck.. at the very least, the Windows 7 driver from HP's website for that laptop should work for installing Windows 7- same results, does not detect hard drive.
At this point I'm wondering if maybe it's a BIOS setting that's causing this? I don't recall changing anything in the BIOS when I last installed Windows (which was v8), but it was awhile ago, so can't be certain.

Instead of doing an upgrade of Windows in place, I am trying to do a install from the ISO using EasyBCD.The ISO launches fine as the setup starts but Windows refuses to see my HDD.I have an Elitebook 9470 laptop.
It uses the Intel storage drivers for AHCI and the HDD itself (Intel SSD)Bios is set to use UEFI Hybrid (With CSM).
BIOS can not use UEFI (without CSM) mode as the system does not boot.Tested using Legacy mode and still unable to see HDD. BIOS version is F60 (Jan 2015) and is the latest.
After upgrading my surface PRO to windows 10 today it doesn't seem to be able to connect to the network. Going in to setup a connection windows displays the error "windows did not detect any networking hardware". I enabled, disabled, re-enabled, and re-installed the network adapter but it didn't seem to work.

View 2 Replieswhat I installed or accepted any firewall configuration but every time I try to get on the internet via the chrome it blocks and the notice of proxy, I disable the proxy that is active (127.0. 0.1: 8080) and then to use the chrome for a while, until the proxy returns to be activated. Already excludes via regedi also but nothing worked.
Additionally avast blocked and no longer opens and the windows security center is disabled and can not enable. The firewall also disables alone.
I've been having issues lately with the "Use a proxy server" setting. Initially whenever I would set the slider to "off" and close settings, it wouldn't save. I found that the issue had to do with the UAC being enabled. After I disabled UAC, the setting could be preserved temporarily, i.e., it would revert to "on" after restarting. It's causing serious network slowdowns and I'm at my wits end with Windows.

View 1 RepliesAlmost every time I open the start menu, I get the proxy authentication popup, despite ticking the box save the details. There are also a whole bunch of potential proxy servers which can be connected to (I'm at university), and it randomly selects which one to connect to (as this would be the default for "automatically detect settings" in Internet Options.
Cortana isn't available in my country, and I've changed the search menu to not use bing to find results. I have no internet-accessing apps pinned to start. Why is it constantly trying to access the internet? Why won't it save my details after the first login despite it trying to access the same proxy? Maybe too many proxy requests lined up after each other?
There are a few networks I cannot connect to and I'm not sure why. Most networks like the one I have at home, I am able to connect, however when I am at my friend's house or some cafe, it doesn't let me connect to the internet. I tried updating my drivers and it still doesn't connect. It was able to connect few months ago when I had windows 8.1 but when I upgraded to windows 10, I started facing these problems.
It doesn't tell me what to problem is either. It just says "Cannot connect to network"
I am connected to a wireless network but the connection is not showing on the Network and Sharing Center active networks. View 2 RepliesI can't change my profile location to private, and I can't make my computer register that it's connected with either my WiFi or my Ethernet. I've looked through the steps posted here, but to no avail. I don't even have the NetworkList key in my registry! I am online with Firefox and Chrome just fine, but Edge won't connect, nor can I connect to the Store. I did a wipe and reinstall a few days ago, partially to try and resolve this issue, and partially to resolve some other issues dating back to the Insider builds, but this problem is still happening. I'm at my wits end, and I can't even connect to my wife's PC to transfer files. I've enabled network discovery and file sharing on public networks, but that didn't even make a difference. Also, since I reinstalled Windows, I've been unable to activate it, but I think that is tied to this network problem. It's like all the new apps and features won't recognize the connection. I'm not running any security software besides Windows Defender, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I've tried everything and nothing working, i even tried using the the Ethernet cable and it worked but as soon as I disconnect the cable it'll have no wifi access. It's not my wifi or router because My phone and other things connect and work fine. My network just won't show up on the list.

I can logon without problems to WiFi networks where I provide a passphrase/password to the Wifi-point. This is the case at home and at friends' and family.I can also logon on to public WiFi networks such as on trains, hotels, restaurants and what not. Some of these are like the situation described above, some are hotspot like.Where I run into problems is in corporate network situations. I'll have been provided with a UID and Password (which work, I verified them on my smartphone), see the WiFi signal I am to log on to and what is supposed to happen is:
After I have made the connection to the WiFi spot, my browser is to open automatically and bring me to a URL where I can enter the UID and Password after which I'll be connected. This does not happen. ORI should open my browser and attempt to access any url after which I am guided to a URL where I can enter the UID and Password
I'll see the WiFi point, make the connection, the browser does not open automatically and when I open it myself and try a URL (e.g. CNN.com), instead of requesting a UID and Password I just get the error 'server not found'...
How to configure my Win10 to automatically connect to multiple wifi networks?
I have wifi at home so when I get to the office I have to configure the "manage wifi settings" on my laptop, click "forget" my home wifi, and manually enter the office wifi password. I repeat the same process when I get home from the office or use the wifi in my brother's house. I had this on my Windows 7 but can't figure out how to in Win10.

But the above code only turn off "Connect to suggested open hotspots" and not "Connect to networks shared by my contacts". How can I turn off "Connect to networks shared by my contacts" via registry?
Is there a way I can change all connected networks to private instead of public with a click-able script? The problem was that a User was connected to an open network using a VPN which then also connected showing Public. With both as Public, they could not map to a network resource. I fixed it using the "go to home-groups and change network settings, etc." But surely there is a way it could be handled with a simple script to edit same? End result was the VPN showed private while the open WiFi he connected to still showed public but he could access the server now.
View 1 RepliesI've recently upgraded my home PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I've been using a Realtek USB Wi-Fi adapter to connect to the internet. After installing the new OS and running it for the first time, I couldn't connect to my home network.
After reinstalling the drivers supplies by the manufacturer and reattaching the adapter, I attempted to again connect to the network. The "Verifying and connecting" message displayed, but after closing Settings and returning to the same page, all of the Wi-Fi settings have disappeared, like the drivers have crashed.
I just updated my media center to version 1511 of windows 10. Via wifi, downloaded and installed ok i thought. But have found i cannot see any wireless networks. Normally about 7 up in my area.
I've tried uninstalled the device and installing it again.
I've tried checking for newer drivers, but isn't any.
I've tried resetting these in command prompt (admin) net sch advfirewall, int ip, int ipv6, winsock and rebooted afterwards.
I've tried plugging the usb wifi adapter into a different usb port.
I've tried restarting the Router. Mobile phone picks up wifi in the same room.
