View 3 RepliesI am trying upgrade to Windows 10 from my Windows 7 Ultimate. I downloaded and tried to install Windows 10 and it failed I got the error message 8007002c-4000d and when I tried to install it again Windows is saying - Windows isn't activated on this pc. use a product key to activate it before upgrading to windows 10. I don't know what my product key is but it shouldn't ask me what it is...
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to download windows 10 on my laptop (windows 7). It does the download and looks like it is all downloading fine and it starts rebooting and then it goes to a blank blue screen and doesn't go off the screen. I have to turn my laptop off just to do something on it, it then restores my old version of windows and doesn't download windows 10.
I then check the update and it says "failed" with the error details "code 8007002C"
A friend of mine is trying to upgrade his PC using ISO but he keeps getting an error that keeps restoring his PC back to Win8.1. His words "it finishes the install, gets to the copying files stage., then after a while it starts restoring my windows 8.1 back." He sent me a screenshot of the error but for reasons I don't know, Tapa Talk isn't allowing me to send the image. The error code on the screenshot is 0x8007000E-0x2000C with the message "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation."

View 2 RepliesHave had this error for a couple days now. Tried regular checks to verify system components and online image and windows update service diagnostics, cleaned up SoftwareDistribution, turned off non-Microsoft auto starting services, - all to no avail.
Also, ran netfxsetupverifier, which gave me the only error - aspnet.mof missing, which I presume is OK.
I've been trying lately to update my Window 10 Laptop (previously Windows 7) to the latest build through WMCT (Windows Media Creation Tool), but I failed three times,
I downloaded the WMCT from Microsoft website. For the first two times I ran it, it failed through the updating windows phase (copying data, installing drivers and features, and a third one).
I tried deleting the content in Window/SoftwareDistribution/Download, and re-running, but also failed at the beginning of "Installing Drivers & Features". I am able to download everything and "preparing to install" normally, but it is just at that phase where I get a message saying "We are restoring the previous version of Windows".
Here is a snap of the error I just got after successfully "restoring to the previous version of Windows".
when updating apps in windows 10 store, a msg pops out saying something went wrong and error code is 0x80072f78..
View 2 RepliesIm using an activated version of Windows 10 but updates fail saying "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later."
So far I have tried:-
Using microsofts fixit app, it said it fixed errors but the update still wont work.
Editing the registry - UX from 1 to 0
those are the main fixes I have tried plus some more basic ones.
I've tried downloading and installing Windows 10 via the System Update for the past 24 hours (I've tried it 5 separate times). Every time it gets to 84% overall, and 36% configuring settings, then goes to a black screen with nothing on it (including no cursor) and almost no HDD activity. This has happened all five times.

View 6 RepliesWindows 10 download has been trying to update and failed at least 25 times, same error 80240020.
I have tried deleting files in the C;/windows/softwaredistribution/download and running wuauclt.exe/updatenow but no luck.
Download got to around 75% last night and failed.
I got the little 'Get Windows 10' icon and reserved my copy, all fine. But it still doesn't actually say it can install, not sure why. But my laptop has now tried to install W10 5 times, without telling me it was going to or asking my permission. And all five times it has failed with error code 80240020. This is not my area of expertise and I don't know why it keeps doing this. I'm not even sure I want to install it; I only reserved it to see what everyone else thought and I figured I'd have some kind of say in the matter. Basically, is it supposed to do this? And what can I do to fix it, either by stopping it trying or installing it properly?
View 2 RepliesI have an HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7 Home. I decided to update to Windows 10. Download was successful, it attempted to install the update I guess, was on the settings part. It got stuck though on a blank screen with just a cursor for two hours so I turned off my laptop. Then it restored Windows 7, and now it's redownloading the Windows 10 update again. Thing is, I got an issue with my laptop. Whenever it boots up, I get an error message about the fan not working properly and I have to hit enter for it to continue with the restart otherwise it will power off. Could that have affected the update to Windows 10?
View 24 RepliesI recently upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 ( Build 10240). I had my overclock settings at 4.4 GHz/1.172 CPU Vin (specs listed at the bottom). My computer had no issues prior to switching to Windows 10. However, my computer always crashes and gives me the "overclock settings have failed" error within the first 10 minutes. This seems to only happen during the first boot session of my computer.
After restarting, the computer seems to run fine with no problems. I've tried restarting with default CPU settings and my usual OC settings. My computer runs for several hours with no issues. The issue comes back after I've turned the computer off for a long period of time (~3-5 hours).
I think its a Windows 10 issue, but I'm not sure.

I get an error "The user profile control failed at login"when trying to login for the first time to a newly added family account. I accept the invitation from another computer but get the error when trying to switch to the new profile. This account runs fine on another computer. I deleted this account from this computer using Windows 10 because windows mail stopped working. Now I can not reinstall the profile.
