Windows Laptop Always Turn Sideways When Turned On
Aug 22, 2015
My windows labtop is always turn sideways when i turn it on. I can change it when the computer is started up. How I can change it that i can get the right screen instead of the sideways screen?
I'm logged on, it's my computer, I'm the administrator, there are no AV running. However I get the system error " Windows Defender is being managed by your system administrator" controlled by group policy. All I want to do is turn it on. Local Group Policy shows nothing is configured...??
I can't turn on Windows Defender. When I try to launch it, a window saying "This app has been turned off and is not monitoring your computer" pops up. I tried everything that's listed on the MS answers thread. I am unable to start the Windows Security Centre service too. It doesn't stay enabled i.e., it becomes disabled as soon as I close the Services app. I have no anti-virus installed. Been using WD since I upgraded.
I always used to set the turn off display after 2 or 3 minutes, everything was working fine with my old PC but after the new PC whenever the screen is turned off i can't turn it on again buy using the mouse or keyboard.
This problem was while using windows 8.1 and after installing windows 10 pro the problem is still there.
Tried turn off hibernate solution but with no luck.
Connection with monitor is throw HDMI cable with the internal Intel 4600 VGA Card
My laptop powered off yesterday due to low battery. Ever since I powered it back on, my laptop has been presenting me many different errors. Issues include:
Irql not less or equal System service excempt Critical process died Driver power state failure Memory management Driver corrupted expool
recently upgraded to win10 and that went well.. However on the last update (I think) that went bad. My pc now looses all apps when turned off. When restarted, I have to reload windows live mail and re-enter my email account. All my contacts seem to have been lost as is my email history.I use google as my web browser and I have to re-enter all my settings here also.
When turned on, my pc loads quickly but after logging on, it goes to "preparing windows" which takes some time before it is usable.
updates installed around the time of problem are;
kb3081448 kb3081449 kb3081452 kb3081444
..this is the update after which I think the problem started
As I use a proprietary antirvirus, and on a whim, I just thought to check my Windows Defender setting, only to find to find that it was turned on*. (I could swear I turned it off, sometime in the past. I was further surprised to find that the On/Off button is disabled--so I CAN'T turn it off!
I'm further surprised to find the notice, under Settings/Windows Defender, which says "You can turn this off temporarily, but if we find that it is turned off for a while we'll turn it back on again, automatically." (One mystery solved*)
As I understand it, Windows Defender is merely Microsoft's own notion of free antivirus software--so when Windows turns Defender on again, this means I not only have two antivirus packages running (and possibly interfering with each other--involuntarily) but also that I now seem to have no choice in the matter--unless, of course, I permanently uninstall the antivirus software that I paid good money for.
Questions: How do I re-enable the Windows Defender On/Off button; and How do I DISable Windows ability to turn it on again?
I went to Dell and saw that my laptop is compatible with Windows 10. It's a Dell Inspiron 3737. I thought I fixed my issue when I disabled "fast startup" in power settings. It occurs to me that some of my problems were fixed (excessive battery draining).
If I shut the lid and leave it, the next day the laptop won't turn on. I have to hold the power button down until I see the power LED flash and then I can press the button again to turn on the laptop.
i don't have any bluetooth or even wireless devices but in the action center bluetooth is always turned on! and when i click on it, Its just open Settings.
I had a lot of files so I decided to reset to factory settings. Computer at 2% turned off, so I tryed to turn it on again, but windows refused to start, it turned off after the manufacturer's logo showed, so I decided to download windows 10 installer [URL] ..... and put it into my USB. I tryed to reinstall windows through usb port, but it needs to turn on the windows that can not be launched (possibly due to incomplete reset to factory settings that might have deleted important windows files). How can I re-install windows 10 without needing to access windows?
Can get start screen with girl jogging. However often the Windows 10 icon at bottom left hand corner does not respond. If I click on Explorer icon get message "Explorer.EXE element not found". Cannot turn my laptop off except by holding down power button which causes other problems.
I recently started trying out Windows 10. It's buggy and frustrating, but it's still in preview mode, so... That's expected.
Nothing was working when I installed build 10074 off disc, so I installed build 9926 off a disc (I got the iso from MSDNAA, I'm a programming student) then upgraded via settings to 10074.
During the upgrade, my laptop started resetting, normal. But halfway through, the resets stopped working.
The screen switches off, the cd drive switches off and the hdd activity light switches off, but the power stays on, and the fan keeps running. It also doesn't switch off on shutdown either.
I finally have a working version of Windows 10, minus Cortana and Spartan (I'm in Aus), but now my laptop won't shut down.
Could it be drivers? Is it OS interference? Is there a way to fix it without uninstalling and re installing Win 10? I really cbf going through all that again...
After updating from windows 7 to 10 I faced a problem, my laptop's wifi does not auto connect when i turn it on, instead i have to reset my wifi adapter to connect to my wifi, this was not an issue on windows 7. My drivers are all up to date i even tried to reinstall them but still no result. It feels annoying to reset my adapter all the time when i turn on my laptop
I have Dell 15-3521 and it was working perfectly with no issues like this, now as the new update of Windows 10 is automatically installed, now after upgrading to Windows 10 whenever i shutdown my laptop it automatically turns itself ON. It is happening after upgrading to Windows 10. Whenever i shut it down it turn it self on after some time. Their is no task in Task Management which could turn it ON.
I recently downloaded windows 10 onto my ACER laptop, however when I turn my laptop on and sign in, my screen keeps turning on and off over and over again, I've tried turning it off and restarting it. I'm not sure what's going on.
I recently updated my DELL L502X to Windows 10 from Windows 7. All drivers have been installed and Device Manager shows no problem. However I'm seeing a weird issue. I'm using an external monitor (ASUS) through HDMI. I'm setting the display to show on external monitor only. In Windows 7, everything works fine. After the Windows boot logo disappears, laptop screen turns off and external monitor turns on. In Windows 10, however, there is an issue.
After boot logo disappears, external monitor turns on, and laptop screen turns off - but not completely. There is no content anymore but the back light is still on. If I switch the display mode to Duplicate or Extend (just to turn on the laptop screen) and switch back to Second Monitor Only, the laptop screen can turn off completely.
Both monitors are shown as Generic PnP Monitors in Device Manager. I don't know if this is a driver problem or something related to my laptop. The bottom line is in Windows 7 there is no such a problem.
I got a Asus ux501vw laptop a couple of months ago and have been having an issue with the screen not be able to turn back on after it turns off.
I'm running Windows 10 x64. The issues happens in any resolution (it's a 4k screen but usually I run 1080p for better software compatability).
This happens when it goes into power saving mode or I use fn7. I can't get the screen back on unless I close the laptop lid and sign back in again. When it happens I can sometimes change the brightness and I can hear notification noises which suggest the laptop is running fine without the screen being on.
Steps I have tried with no result: - rolling back gpu driver to version thathat came with laptop - updating bios and chipset (recommended by asus) - resetting the power management settings
Some weird findings: - in safety mode there is no issue (though when the screen shuts off I can see the backlight is on full which is different to normal boot) - If there is a second monitor plugged in the issue goes away (in either extend or duplicate) - if there is no second monitor plugged in and I hit f7 the screen won't turn back on. As soon as I plug in the second monitor the screen comes back on.
What could be causing this? Is there some monitoring program I should use to find out what is happening when the screen is supposed to be back on but it's not?
Both the Windows 10 laptop and the Windows Vista laptop have discovery on and file and printer sharing on. The printer is connected to the Windows Vista laptop. The Windows Vista laptop can see the files within the Windows 10 laptop. The Windows 10 laptop can see the Windows Vista computer but as soon as it tries to see inside it gives an error about "spelling of the name, etc." If using the diagnosis tool it says "One or more network protocols are missing from this computer". "Resolving problems as administrator" does not solve anything.
I have a new Dell Computer with Windows 10. I have deleted McAfee with its on Uninstaller and also with another uninstaller. I have no other antimalware programs running. I have tried a number of ways to start Windows Defender, which is the only antimalware program listed in my Security area. I have tried to start it with Services. I get an error message as shown below. I get this error message: "The Windows Defender Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs." I have removed all other antimalware programs and no longer get McAfee popups.
(On Windows 10) I can't seem to be able to turn on windows firewall... From action center turning it on fails and it sends me to turn it on manually, but when I try and do that, nothing happens. It seems to load for a while, but nothing happens.
Windows Firewall Authorization Driver is where it should be in it's file location, but when I looked in device manager I couldn't find it (showing hidden).
The windows firewall service is on automatic, but won't turn on. (When I try turning it on it exits with permission denied error) base Filtering Service is on automatic and is running.
WMI repository is consistent.
I had a trojan in my temp files earlier, but other than that no viruses.
I ran: Malwarebytes, superAntiSpyware and Spybot
The problem first appeared today (I don't think it was present yesterday). I don't think anything else has changed except, I re-installed Spotify. It was unable to initialize the storage of temporary files. (I have an old version of spotify that has been tricked to not update).
I just ran sfc and it found some problems and apparently couldn't fix them all. This might be because I used a program to delete parts of windows that i don't want. (mainly Microsoft's spying stuff and store apps) I just don't know if the problems it found were actual problems or just "Windows 10 seems to be missing essential botnet services" ...
This install is less than 2 weeks old, so I doubt there is that much corruption or something like that.
I am having trouble with Windows Defender and Update. I am getting error 0x800705b4 for Defender and though I've searched online on how to fix the problem none of them seem to work. Also, my computer won't let me access the update & security portion of my settings. When I click on it the window closes immediately.
So I installed windows 10 on my PC yesterday, I used to have windows 7. Today I turned on my PC and it says that I can choose to open my PC in windows 7 but not windows 10. So I thought OK I'll just try that, Then it said an error 0xc0000428 and it won't let me turn my PC on, I press enter and it enters the same loop of saying the error and selecting what version of windows I want to open.
