Toshiba Satellite laptop - I did the procedure for removing the windows login using netplwiz. It works once or twice then reverts back to login PW required. The box in user accounts is not checked to enter a user name and PW on this computer. It also requires a login after going to sleep. In the power options, the circle is not checed for requiring a PW and the require a PW on wake up is set to no, on battery or plugged in.
I am using Windows 10 version 1155 Build 10586.36 64 bit edition on my Dell Vostro 3750. It has been working ok on the whole since upgrading to Windos 10 but the last few weeks when I click on this computer icon I can see a ghost Drive.
When I look in Device Manager it is listed as a Generic Multi Card usb I can delete it in the device manager but then next time I boot it is back
I have removed it numerous times by uninstalling the KB3035583 update but it keeps coming back like a bad penny. I made the decision last year to go with Apple when this PC dies but things like this make think I shouldn't wait. I just can't afford toi do it right now. Is there a way to get this damn popup out of my system?
I did download w 10. I didn't like it so went back to 8.1.
Did that ok. I uninstalled the KB3035583...that went ok but the windows icon keeps coming back on my taskbar. When a update appears to be downloaded. how do I check the number of it first to see what it is. I think I might of let it go through last night when
I was shutting down. ]Is this 10 going to keep coming up? Anyway to get rid of it permanently. I intend to stay with my 8.1 as I don't like 10 and it disabled a lot of my stuff when I had it.
I have recently set my PC from 8.1 to the free 10 upgrade offer.
Everything's fine, 'Except' down in the bottom right hand corner a message keeps coming up.... "Activate Windows. Go to settings to activate Windows."
I have gone to settings now, 5 times, & through the whole upgrade procedure 5 times too, including several system restores. Each time I get an on-screen message telling me everything's done, 10 is now fired up & running etc. The 'Activate' message disappears, everything's fine for a week or 2, then I switch the PC on & the message has come back again.
Problem back with 10547. Windows Update trying to install 15 year old driver for printer. Previously hid the update with Wushowhide and it was gone for months. Back again this morning. Reran Wushowhide and it showed the update was hidden but still there after restart.
I was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?
I have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.
My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.
As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here.
I reinstalled windows the day before yesterday and since then every time I turn my laptop on after entering my password the screen turns off for like 2 seconds then turns back on. This have never happened to me before. I tried putting my old windows back via Macrium Reflect and I even tried reinstalling it again but neither of those things worked. I have an Acer Aspire V3-572g laptop.
I upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. after a month, my system crashed due to inaccessible_boot_device issue. I tried everything, but had to go for a fresh install of windows 10. then came the issue of activation. No matter what i did, it wasnt getting activated. So, now the customer care at HP has asked me to install Windows 8.1 again. and then upgrade.
My question is, should I install Windows 8.1 Single Language itself, as it was my original OS, or can I go for Windows 8.1 Pro. Will Pro dvd have the option of Single Language in it? Media creation tool is not working for me, that is why I'm trying to download Pro via torrent and then install Single Language.
I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 today. I had deleted some of the apps needed to get pictures from my phone, so thought I would use the reset option to get back to the original state when the upgrade had conpleted, not realizing it would delete all my programmes as these were termed 'apps'. I now don't have the option in 'recovery' to go back to Windows 7, nor the option in 'advanced start up' to reset to factory settings.
I want to get back to Windows 7 so I can use the system image and my back up, both on external HD, to reinstall all my programmes but can't think how I can do this.
I have a couple Macrium Reflect back-up images I made before upgrading to 10. At this point I am fully committed to 10. Are there any reasons to keep the Win 7 images? They are stored on an external HD which has lots of free space but I like to get rid of stuff I do not need just to keep my life simple and uncluttered.
I reserved the upgrade for WIndows 10 and upgraded it the day it was released. But now I'm thinking of rolling back to 8.1 due to some issues. I have an Acer Aspire M5 Ultrabook and came with Genuine windows 8. I wanted to know does rolling back to windows 8.1 restore my laptop to previous stage with all my files and settings safe or will it install a brand new clean Windows 8.1?
Its been more than a month that i have updated my Pc to windows 10, and i actually dont like it at all so i need to find a way to go back to windows 8.1 without losing data like Steam games and pictures and more.
I had just installed windows 10 on my pc. I just want to know,if i go back to windows 8.1 will the installed applications that I had on windows 8.1 still be installed if i revert back to my previous windows 8.1.
When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.
How can I get back my Recovery D. or Recovery partition? It was accidentally remove on my laptop. How to get it back without recovery media on my laptop and I didn't save it to any disc or flash drive.. ..
The laptop that I use a PIN to log on clearly has on the login screen under the PIN area the option to change to other types of login credentials (i.e., MSID, Local Account), but on another laptop where I changed over to Windows Logon I do not have any such option displayed, nor can I find it in Settings:Accounts:Sign-in Options (though it DOES have there the option to change the PIN and other credential particulars).
So I upgraded to windows 10 but I wanted a clean install of it so i figured a factory reset would do it thinking it would have windows 10. But that was stupid now I have windows 8.1 with no windows 10 icon so my question is will the icon come back so I can upgrade back to windows 10 or am I stuck with the older version?
I installed the upgrade to W10 and I think I should have waited. Things are slow to open and lockups, frozen screens and streaming problems are happening all the time. I see there is a go back to Windows 7 option and I may take it for now, and do a clean install at a later date.
I currently have Windows 10, which I received as a free upgrade when I had Windows 8 several months ago. Now, I have to wipe my hard drive, so I'll obviously be reinstalling Windows 8 once I have done so. Will it again give me the option to upgrade to Windows 10, or will I be forced to stick with the dreaded Windows 8?
