When I try to install windows 10 into my newly built pc, everything goes normally... then it says that the pc need to reboot, and it does. After the reboot, the windows logo appears and it brings me back to the windows installation process.

View 3 RepliesDon't know if this is a hardware problem or not, Trying to install W10 from USB stick on a ASRock Z87 professional board with default UEFI settings loaded.
The machine boots to USB, then shows the Windows Logo for 10 seconds, then reboots and repeats this loop so I can't even install.
I downloaded Media Creation Tool 64 bit.First i clicked "Upgrade my PC now" it downloaded Windows 10 and asked me to reboot. After that blue windows 10 logo appeared I have waited like 2-3hours but nothing happened. I tried even installing through USB but same thing blue logo appears and nothing... Why can't i install Windows 10?

I bought an asus tranformerbook t200(with windows 10 update) on 11 august and was very happy with it.
Occasionally, the laptop couldnt find any wifi networks but that was fixed quickly by just turning the computer on and off, until today.
Today at school(my second school day at university), i had no internet anymore. He didnt find any networks anymore at all. Turning the laptop on and off wouldnt so a thing. So i tried some things, like turning the broadcom device on and off via device manager. That also didnt work. A user in the internet on another topic suggested to delete the broadcom and then reboot, i did it and things only got worse. My laptop didnt recognize the broadcom wifi adapter anymore at all.
Then I tried to format windows(with saving documents addition) which unfortunately failed. After that, i tried to format it and added the option that everything would be cleaned, that failed also. c windows system32 logfiles srt srttrail.txt is apparently the error.
Now if i start the laptop, the asus logo will show but thereafter the screen just turns black. I tried system recovery and even startup repair but both fail.

So after having numerous issues with my ASUS VivoTab Smart upgrading to Windows 10 (Sound issues, display driver issues, losing my Recovery Drive, etc) I finally got everything fixed and my tablet was finally running as wonderfully as it did on Windows 8.1..... For about a week.
And then this latest build for W10 comes out. I downloaded it and then attempted to install it
The system restarts to do the update with the circular progress bar but then gets stuck at 40%. I have had this problem on three different PC's in the past and all I did was power them off, boot up again, and then it would finish off the update with no further issues.
But that didn't happen this time. I powered off my Tablet and then started it up again. Instead of carrying on, W10 decides to cancel the whole update and roll me back to am earlier version of W10.
I thought I would try again and this time wait longer. Maybe I was impatient. Went through the process again, rebooted, started the update install and then stuck at 40% yet again. I figured I would just plug my tablet in and leave it while I slept surly it would finish by the time I woke up. Nope it was still at 40%
Powered it down because I couldn't do anything else, but it decided to roll back again. What's worse is that it seemed to have rolled back to a version of W10 prior to when I got everything fixed mentioned above. So now not only am I stuck with a dud upgrade that keeps trying to install after a period of time, but I have to fix all my previous issues again. How to resolve this update freeze?
I chose the "fast" ring update on the windows insider app in order to get the preview for windows 10 on my lumia 1520. It updated fine but since the migrating data process began, it has been stuck in a continuous reboot loop. The screen shows the nokia logo and the windows logo briefly, then shows the at&t logo (since I bought the phone in the US) with "not for resale" written in the bottom left corner. How can I fix this? I don't mind losing all my data.
View 3 RepliesI was installing Windows 10 on my Lumia 620 and at the end of the process it shuts down! (I suppose because the battery went empty). Any way now i charge the phone and it powers up automatically, it goes to the gears icons, they start working, and then the battery goes again dead and here we are again at square one? Maybe because the installing process needs more power than the charger can supply (the standart charger 1.3A). What I can try in this situation?
View 1 RepliesI have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.
My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.
As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here.
I am using an HP Pavillion 15-n268a laptop.
Its been more than a month that i have updated my Pc to windows 10, and i actually dont like it at all so i need to find a way to go back to windows 8.1 without losing data like Steam games and pictures and more.
View 8 RepliesI had just installed windows 10 on my pc. I just want to know,if i go back to windows 8.1 will the installed applications that I had on windows 8.1 still be installed if i revert back to my previous windows 8.1.
When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.
I installed the upgrade to W10 and I think I should have waited. Things are slow to open and lockups, frozen screens and streaming problems are happening all the time. I see there is a go back to Windows 7 option and I may take it for now, and do a clean install at a later date.
View 2 RepliesMy Windows 7 was updating to Windows 10. When it appeared to almost be done configuring a message appeared stating the Windows 10 could not be installed and it was restoring the previous version of Windows.
Well that did not work. The pc will not boot up now. Instead I get: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>system32hal.dll Please reinstall a copy of the above file"
I hope I can add the file using the win7 dvd. I know I was getting low on hard drive space, but had cleared enough to have 4 gig or so free. It was either not mentioned anywhere or I missed how much hd space would be needed. Of course I am assuming that the install bombed due to this?
I have been running Windows 10 Pro on my HP desktop for overa week with no problems. Over theweekend Windows attempted installing an upgrade; not sure when, but during theupgrade process I received a Critical Process Died BSOD with no error code. All system restarts result in the same error, and I havebeen unable to use Repair, Recovery Mode, or Safe mode to isolate theproblem.
The only usable option seems tobe to do a System Restore where I have the choice of losing all installed apps,or losing both all installed apps and files. Is there any way to roll back to the Windows 8.1 that isstill located in the Windows.old folder from the command prompt?
So I made the mistake of upgrading my Dell Venue 8 Pro to Windows 10... It's very slow and buggy.
I tried using the built in "Revert back to Windows 8.1" option in the Settings "app", but it says that files have been deleted and it can no longer perform the uninstallation.
I also tried going into the tablet's built in Backup and Recovery from Dell, but that doesn't allow me to reinstall Windows 8. It's merely a diagnostic.
A few days ago my Pc started to act slow and slugging so i restarted it a couple of times and on the 3rd reboot it started a disc check. Once it finished it worked flawlessly BUT it had reverted to a previously unknown restore point. Ok i thought and reinstalled some programs that were missing and went to bed. Next day i booted it up and all the programs were missing again.....The same unknown restore point was back! Curious now, i installed a program, rebooted the pc, and once again, same restore point! Just what is happening?
View 4 RepliesI just currently started having this issue. My computer runs completely fine. However I applied recent windows 10 upgrades and I for some reason had to restart I cant remember why. However after the initial restart the computer simply stayed on and didn't initiate boot. I then turned off the computer and turned it back on. It boots fine, no problems. However if I set the computer to restart from the start menu it will but it wont boot back. It will just stay on and make a louder fan noise but wont reboot?
View 7 RepliesI was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?

View 1 RepliesI restarted my PC after my screen blanked out in a game I was playing after changing the resolution. Then when I boot my PC, the Windows logo appears, the loading thing starts rotating, then it black screens and my monitor displays some text saying "no video avaliable".The only thing I can think of is hard drive corrupted as, whilst running, my PC almost tipped over, but I stopped it.
I will try boot the PC with another hard drive to test my theory
Noticed this A.M. just after my laptop boots up and I sign in,it loads my desktop and then a mysterious command prompt windows appeared for about 3 seconds (not long enough for me to see what it was) and then disappeared.
I've downloaded nothing on my machine,and I've done the SFC scan as well as the check disc scan and nothing was found. I've also run Defender and Malwarebytes and she's clean...
Would this event show up in the log files or event viewer ..Trouble?..and if so what might I look for?
I had a pc failure, so i upgraded my motherboard and chip, as expected windows still booted from start with no issues, restarted to install lan driver, and when it fired up again i had the activate windows bottom right of screen, how do i fix this, I upgraded from win7.

I turned on my pc and it froze right after it passed the Blue windows logo screen. A black screen appeared with no cursor.
I rebooted the pc (through the reset button) and everytime it got stuck at the black screen and then rebooted on its own. After a few rounds of black screen and reboots, I got the advanced repair options but it couldn't repair anything.
A very few times that it did manage to go boot and go to the desktop, it froze and didn't let me open any files or folders. Also when I mouse over the files, a black box appears around the icons and the file names appear garbled
I haven't installed anything lately that might cause this to happen.
