View 1 RepliesSo some one keeps frogetting to clock in when he gets back to his desk from lunch.(me)
Start up at boot isn't going to work, because I just lock my computer and dont shut down.
Toshiba Satellite laptop - I did the procedure for removing the windows login using netplwiz. It works once or twice then reverts back to login PW required. The box in user accounts is not checked to enter a user name and PW on this computer. It also requires a login after going to sleep. In the power options, the circle is not checed for requiring a PW and the require a PW on wake up is set to no, on battery or plugged in.

It even brings Games Explorer back.

want to switch back to Windows 7. However, my Start menu doesn't work. This proves to be very problematic, because the Settings menu within the Start menu seems to be the only path to reverting back to Windows 7. I've tried a few times to get my start menu back in order to restore Windows 7, but nothing I've tried has worked. Here's what I've tried:
(1) Entering a special command in Windows PowerShell [URL]..... Didn't work.
(2) Creating a new account with administrator privileges. Start menu works, but I can't use it to revert to Windows 7. I'm prompted to delete all other accounts created after the upgrade before reverting back to Windows 7.
(3) Accessing the Settings menu from within the Control Panel. Settings menu doesn't seem to be accessible from the Control Panel.
Is there a way to go back to Windows 7 without using the Start menu? I would rather not have to go find my original product key for Windows 7 and reinstall it, but if that's the only way, so be it.
For a while I had a new feature in the Edge browser ---- previews of new pages / tabs. It has disappeared. how do I get it back?
View 7 RepliesJust downloaded window 10 and I can't get passed this page! It keeps on crashing when I try to press anything. It will reset and reload this page.

Currently i am having this problem, unable to login to any MS app like store, people, outlook etc.
Dont want to install w10 again.
I was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?
View 1 RepliesWin 10 installation went smoothly and yes it runs faster than Win 7 Ultimate..BUT.......I do not like the Start Page with its apps and stuff I don't need.
What I do need is a start menu with all my programs so I can get back to work.
Can I change this to what I had in Win 7?
I am using window 10 on my venue pro 8. when i try to pin a web page to my start screen nothing happens. How to do it.
View 2 RepliesAs I now have icons only on the start page and nothing on my desktop, how can I skip opening on desktop and open directly on the start page?
View 5 RepliesI click 'Pin to Start' and nothing happens and some of the app icons are missing
View 6 RepliesAfter signing in on W10 sign in page, start up screen comes up but just keeps flashing, no icons on bottom task bar, curser has revolving blue circle, left click and right click has no effect. The only thing I can do is "control/alt/del to bring up the task manager. Tried rebooting numerous times to no avail. Tried disconnecting modem and computer and restarting, no luck. Appears that W10 is installed but seems to be hung up on start page. Unable to access anything. If I press the F1 key sometimes icons appear momentarily on the task bar but then they disappear and cannot bring them back up.
View 1 RepliesFollowing search results, I have tried the "scannow" and 'reinstall all Windows apps' suggestions. Scannow found no errors, and reinstalling Windows apps did nothing to work. When I click on the Start button (that usually brings up the Programs Menu, I get the little twirling blue icon for about 5 or 6 seconds, then... nothing. Cortana is dead, or away on vacation.
BTW, all my Taskbar program icons work, all the system tray icons (except 'Notifications') work, and a right click on the Start button brings up the usual context menu. Also, I tried installing Start10, but that didn't work either.
Can I use classic icons on the start page instead of tiles? I do not like the tiles.
View 6 RepliesWhy does download put tiles for apps on Start page that I never had?????
View 1 RepliesThe tiles I've put on the start page for various apps (all resized to small) and arranged in groups are rearranging themselves randomly and resizing to medium each time I reboot. I can't find any reason for this. Also, is it possible to start more than one app at a time using the tiles? I've tried searching here and using Google but nothing at all comes up.. It's a clean install after upgrading.
View 1 RepliesI have a desktop computer, it was working fine almost a year and now from a few days I am having a serious issue and that is when using my computer (generally or during gaming) it displays an error i.e PAGE_FAULT_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. The screen turns pink and the edges are green (that's probably because of the resolution as I use 3840x2160 so the error kinds of destorts) but that's not the real issue, the main problem is the error itself.
My Computer specifications :
Intel i7 4790
Asus Maximus VII Formula ROG
Kingston 8GBx2 DD3 Ram (Simple ones, not the gaming ones)
1TBx2 Seagate HDD
Asus GeForce Titan X
Corsair CX850M.
I have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.
My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.
As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here.
I am using an HP Pavillion 15-n268a laptop.
I reinstalled windows the day before yesterday and since then every time I turn my laptop on after entering my password the screen turns off for like 2 seconds then turns back on. This have never happened to me before. I tried putting my old windows back via Macrium Reflect and I even tried reinstalling it again but neither of those things worked. I have an Acer Aspire V3-572g laptop.
View 9 RepliesI'm currently running Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad.
I have the Get Windows 10 icon showing. When I click it, it takes me to the Upgrade Now button. So far so good.
When I click the Upgrade Now button, I get the starting to download screen with the circle dots. After a few seconds, it then takes me to the Windows 7 'Windows Update' page in the control panel, where it says that 'windows is up to date'. And that's it.
How to get Windows 10 to upgrade? I've done other laptops without issue.
The Start Screen in Windows 8.1 is a masterpiece with its horisontal scroll and simplistic grouping.
The Start Screen in Windows 10 is a mess with the mix of a Windows 7 style Start Menu and the vertical scroll of the tiles.
Would there be any way to bring the Windows 8 Start Screen to Windows 10 as in the early builds?
I don't need any fancy additional features, just the Windows 8 Start Screen style and behaviour.
How do I bypass the whole tedious log in every time I start the pc. I am trying to solve other problems and need to close down multiple times to ascertain the cause...
View 2 RepliesI have a home server, and I have multiple users to able to have multiple private folders. So, let's say I have my own user and my partners user and a server user.
I have some applications that I want to run on startup, and so does the server user. My partner has access to a folder, and the server has access to some folders and so do I. But I need to run some software that can only interact with my folders. This software also doesn't run as a service, and I've tried a bunch of workarounds but they don't work with this piece of software due to other issues.
So, what I'd like to do is, upon boot, have multiple users load their designated apps upon startup. Is that possible? Can I have Windows 10 log in to multiple users upon startup to have their respective applications load and run?
