When I got to start --> settings --> windows update, it just stays on a white loading screen. It never shows anything and just keeps the loading thingy.. I made a screenie:
So I can't see if there are any updates. This has been like this the last 3/4 weeks I think. it used to work just fine. And is there any way I can check if the latest updates/build is installed?
We have received two systems both AMD units which recently (last 2-3 days) had completed updates then refused to start afterwards. I cannot roll back or do a system restore. I could refresh the system i guess, or reset. But i would like to solve the issue at hand. Now unfortunately one customers was in a hurry so i had to reset the unit and send it back out the door. So i currently only have 1 system with the same symptoms at the moment. Unit has 8GB Ram, AMD FM2 cpu, 500gb hdd. Was originally running Windows 7 Home Premium but was upgraded to 10 by the customer and reportedly running fine. Both units apparently had done updates a few nights ago and now refuse to boot. The screen is blank and the cursor flashes from standard cursor to busy symbol. I left it for over 5 hours and nothing happened although the drive is blinking away. Hopefully i was looking for some input on manually finding and removing an update from the Windows recovery environment on the Win 10 Boot disk using cmd possibly. Oh and I'm currently running a chkdsk /f /r on the OS drive.
View 9 RepliesI have been trying to download windows 10 on my laptop (windows 7). It does the download and looks like it is all downloading fine and it starts rebooting and then it goes to a blank blue screen and doesn't go off the screen. I have to turn my laptop off just to do something on it, it then restores my old version of windows and doesn't download windows 10.
I then check the update and it says "failed" with the error details "code 8007002C"
I upgraded from windows 8 to 10 now my window applications will not start. It only has a blank screen. I can only use the task master but can not uninstall especially the security features. I am very unhappy with this product and I do not want it.
View 2 RepliesI did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.
After a recent update , many of my applications show blank files or default application icons. This includes Skype, Office and VLC media player; as of yet I am unable to find what links these applications:

Have the above laptop and when trying to upgrade from Windows 10 I get the dreaded black screen problem.I get to 85% after I few reboots and it hangs at that point. No cursor on screen,clt alt del not working nothing,just blank screen no hdd movement. I tried plugging laptop into TV by hdmi still no screen. Power of laptop and previous version of windows reinstalled.
View 1 RepliesIt says "downloading windows 10"and i get the icon scrolling but then it just takes me to the windows update screen that shows me my current updates are up to date. I've tried this over a dozen times now, even going as far as disabling my windows firewall and ms essentials....still nothing. I've installed the updates that were optional as well as the required ones but it still will not launch. Downloaded the windows 10 update.exe from microsoft directly and it does the same thing as the one in the taskbar. What else should I do? Maybe it's a sign I just keep 7 (ultimate btw) for a much longer time.

View 3 RepliesWhen I wish to view my pictures, some stay up while others will only stay up for about 5 or 6 seconds.
I was advised to change the settings in the defaulting pictures properties; but they are all the same settings for those that stay open and those that don’t.
The red line says something like "Some settings are handled by the company/organization".Which company or organization? If I were at work I'd be thinking about some LDAP setting and it would be all right, but here I'm at home, I have a very straightforward network and configuration.I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to recall this red text line wasn't there after the fresh install I did some weeks ago.
Still I can't think of anything that I tweaked that might have affected that.The only thing I changed is in the windows hidden advanced settings, where I chose so that Windows Update doesn't automatically download/install stuff, but asks for my permission first.
A few weeks back on my Surface Pro 3, I was able to view my desktop and have the tablet style on screen keyboard popup in text fields. Now if I'm in desktop mode, windows does not load the tablet style on screen keyboard when touching an input box and the keyboard icon is gone from the systray. If I'm in tablet mode, the keyboard works like it should, but I'm not able to click on a show desktop icon somewhere. Is there a way to be able to see my desktop *and* use the tablet style keyboard that auto-pops up?
Also in chrome, I am unable to click anything except the X button to close it. So far I'm regretting my upgrade to windows 10!
I am using a Dell Venue 8 Pro with Windows 10 installed. Everytime after Windows Update reboot, the touch keyboard will not be shown on the Logon Screen. I have to use image password to login, and it will resume normal until the next time another Windows Updates are installed.

View 2 RepliesHaving issues with certain icons not staying at the bottom when I put them there. It all started after a windows 10 update some time ago. One day I fired up my laptop and noticed that some of my icons that I had at the bottom of the screen moved up. Tried to move them back and they went right back to the next row above. Did some searching and found suggestion moving the text size smaller and that worked, but now all of my icons are tiny.
View 2 RepliesI have uninstalled KB3035583 which has removed the windows 10 script from my taskbar, however I am still getting a message that there is an important update when I boot up to the initial Windows 8.1 screen before my login. On checking what important updates are available, it is only the Windows 10, KB3035583 that it is obviously trying to get me to update again.
After 2 weeks of failure on updating to Windows 10, I have decided to stay with 8.1. I now want to remove the advice to install importantant updates, that pertain to Windows 10, but still showing those for my Windows 8.1 system. At this point, when getting this message, I don't know if it is still just for Windows 10, or if new updates are available for my 8.1?
I have a laptop and use an external wireless mouse.With Windows 7 and 8 I had the mouse device settings set to "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached" checked. I would turn on the laptop, get to my desktop and receive a notification that the internal device was disabled.
Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have noticed that disabling the internal device does not stick. Every time I turn on the laptop, I have to go to Mouse/Device Settings and check that box. Yes, I do click Apply when I check it and it does disable it. At least it does until I turn on the laptop the next time. How to get the setting to stick so I don't have keep checking that box?
I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days. The system was up and running that day and the next (yesterday 17 September). Today, the screen is blank and the mouse pointer comes up but no login box.

Stays that way, nothing else happens.
Screen is not black, a sort of faded blue.
I accidentally hit hibernation button last night. Woke up this morning and the computer will start up but that's it. There's only blank screen. And I can hear the computer on. I also see the power light on from the power button and the plug into the computer.

I can't even turn off my computer through holding down the power button, I have to unplug the power. The first time my computer crashed into this state I was playing a game, the second time I had managed to successfully boot up my computer but it crashed again when I was browsing the Internet.

Today I have been using my PC as usual, I got info of Windows Updates (I'm using Windows 10) I opened up the updates and restarted my PC. As the PC was launching I got no display at all. Blank screen, nothing at all as if the PC was not detected. I tried restarting PC, removing graphics card / ram then replacing them but no use.
View 1 Replieswhen I start up windows 10, type in my password and hit enter, it takes a bit longer to load and but doesnt even load my desktop. I can ctrl+alt+del to get task manager going and open up chrome with that, but it wont load any web pages. I didn't change anything the day before so I dont know whats up. I tried booting into safe mode but it still does the same thing. Luckily I had my old hard drive with 8.1 still installed so I could get on, and everything works fine on it.
