After upgrade from windows 7 everything works properly. After o while it was not possible to open the START MENY by left click the windows 10 icon in the lower left corner. Right click works ok. What is the reason to that?
View 1 RepliesI left-click on the windows icon, but nothing happens. Right-click, though, gives a pop-up list. How to restore the left-click behaviour?

View 15 Repliesi'm using windows 10 insider now in build 10547, recently some file with specified extension showing the wrong icon, all the wrong icon is same as in the screenshoot:
All error files have icon same like this picture, but all file is can opened with right program, the document is one of from some error file type, last time i have error with archive file and video (all extension eg: mkv, mp4, etc) but fixed when i'm install the media player, and archive file fixed when i'm reinstalling new theme in winrar application. This error can't fixed by change open with, example for my picture file, if i'm using windows photo viewer icon is error, showing icon like the above picture, then when i change open with using photos file icon is right showing the photos application like icon, if i change to windows photo viewer again then the icon wrong again. Rebuilding icon cache not fixing the problem, so what i can do? see icon like that even though the program is run correctly.
I have finished wiping out my PC in order to upgrade to Windows 10. After applying numerous updates, I finally received the Windows 10 tray icon. Once i click on it, I get the following screen. It just sits on this screen with no further progress.
View 1 Repliesso i migrated from windows 7 to windows 10.im running windows 10 pro,64 bit,4gb ram on intel i3 processor.in windows 7 when i click on the battery icon i can choose the power plan setting immediately. but in windows 10,when i click the battery icon the power plan option is no longer there.i had to go through advanced power setting to get to the power plan settings.so i wonder is there any way to get the power plan setting to show directly when i click the battery icon?i knew there was a workaround by editing registry and showing it by right clicking on desktop instead but i prefer the old way.
View 1 RepliesAs stated in title - no battery icon when not plugged in - and no battery/power icon when plugged in - also no locations icon. I do not care much about the locations one, but the battery one is pretty much vital.
Going into "Turn system icons on / off" - both Power & Location are greyed out - and can not be activated.
I have tried all the regular Windows 7 / 8 fixes - but no luck. I DO have a battery icon in the logon screen - but that is it. I have had this issue since I first downloaded the first preview builds.
This is my machine stats according to System info ....
On Windows 7 when you click on the icon for an open application on the quick-launch (taskbar) it toggles that app being in front or not. On Windows 10 it is closing the application. See image.
In Windows 10 is there a way to change the behaviour so it does NOT close the application when you click on the icon on the taskbar?
I started having problems last week. When I click on the Edge icon, nothing happens. My default browser is Internet Explorer. Everything was working fine before. I've checked my settings and nothing seems to have changed. The other users on this computer can get connected. I can connect to the internet if I click on the Google Chrome icon on my desktop. I've tried changing my default browser to Chrome and Edge, but still nothing happens when I click on the Edge icon
View 4 RepliesRecently i upgrade my laptop to windows 10, and also update my graphic drivers, but now the battery icon in notification area is not visible and i can't change the brightness of my screen too. it seems that the graphic driver installed correctly.
View 2 Replieson a brand new upgrade from Windows 8, the start icon in the lower left corner does not respond to left button mouse clicks. It does see the mouse over and responds to right button clicks. Also when trying to pin an icon to the taskbar, it does not respond to a right click. The logged in user is an administrator. I have re-booted several times.
View 3 RepliesA customer brought me a machine with an issue I have never seen before. All desktop icons were gone and the only thing on the desktop is 3 lines in the upper left (opens an empty start menu), 3 lines in the lower left (opens all programs list) and the power button above that. I have managed to bring the desktop icons back but when I click the start menu it switches from the desktop with icons to the above mentioned screen with no icons. When it is on this new screen you can't right click on anything. A new user works as it should.
View 2 RepliesFor some reason many icons have no picture and are left blank. how to fix this?

View 1 RepliesSo, wandering around in the wonderland that is The Witcher 3, my computer froze. I reset it using the reset button and got a DISK READ ERROR (ctrl+alt+del to reboot). And then I found that power cycling my SSD worked, which was nice. Upon rebooting back, Windows performed a disk check, then diagnostics, a restart, and then I got into Windows proper. Checking WhoCrashed, it gave me back BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO, and the following (large 316 MB) dmp file: [URL] ....
View 1 RepliesI have a new HP laptop which has a new Windows 10 image on it. I was able to set up my Microsoft account on it, so I can log-in with it, but if I go to SETTINGS | ACCOUNTS | YOUR EMAIL AND ACCOUNTS, nothing ever shows - the animated graphic at the top (flying dots) continues forever and nothing is ever displayed.
My login id has admin rights, so I don't think it's not a permissions issue. Why I can't see/change the account information??
I used avg tuneup to check the disk for errors on next boot and my computer turned off while it was checking for errors. After this happened I can't get windows 10 to boot into login. I get a message saying it can't boot windows and I get a bad system config info error.
I am using a N5050 Inspiron Dell Laptop.I tried booting into command prompt and running the command chkdsk /f /r /x and when it finishes it says it didn't fix anything or fine any errors. Ubuntu says it has bad sectors when I tried to run a fix on the partition in gparted. I tried burning easyre windows 10 recovery disc on usb and DVD-r without any luck on ubuntu. Yes I know how to setup my computer to boot from cd/dvd or usb. I only have access to windows command prompt and ubuntu system on external usb jump drive I have no access to windows computer.

View 2 RepliesI had been dual-booting between win 7 and win 10. That part was working fine, but I was unhappy wth my win 10 installation. So I erased the partition and reinstalled it. First sign of trouble: It didn't detect my win 7 installation. But it was there (I already got files from it). I installed EasyBCD, added the entry for win 7, saved the set up, then wrote the MBR with the new entry. Went to MSConfig to doublecheck. Both entries were there. I restarted, and it booted straight into Win 10. EasyBCD no longer had the win 7 entry. Neither did MSConfig. Went through the whole process again. Same problem at restart. And it wasn't fastboot, I could see the BIOS entry, etc.
View 9 RepliesWhen I do a "Properties" on my J: HDD it shows "Used space", "Free space" and "Capacity" for this HDD.
When I do the same for my F: HDD it shows ZERO for all three. See above.
BOTH drives are NTFS. Also when I do properties on a folder on J: it shows "Advanced" properties and I can encrypt the folder. Again when I do the same on a folder on F: it doesn't show "Advanced" properties and I can't encrypt the folder?
PS I'm on the latest update of Windows 10 Pro on a 64bit desktop.
My upgrade to Win 10 all appears to be OK, and at onetime it even said that is was ACTIVATED, but later after I went to settings, it reverted back to saying not activated,,, and one of the other places it still says it is activated, but itne systems it say the it is not actived now.
So, my question is: Do you think if I did a "Clean install" that maybe I would be able to get it activated ?
In Windows 8.1 there was an option to delete personal info from live tiles, this was also possible on previous Windows 10 builds but I can't find it. This was useful for when inevitably something breaks on the start screen and we could 'refresh' all the tiles. My Mail App is stuck showing 1 unread message because I reimaged back but backed up with that 1 message unread.
View 2 RepliesWhen I click to start some programs, I get this AFS Error Info window. After clicking OK, I then get the UAC window. Except for the extra step, nothing goes wrong--it's just annoying. Sometimes programs requiring a UAC show this AFS error, sometimes not. What this is and how to stop it?
