Calendar On Start No Longer Displays The Current Date?
Nov 7, 2015
Now the calendar just displays Microsoft's ugly icon in the calendar square. Used to be it would just have a number there. Like today it would have a 6 for Nov 6. I don't know how to do anything with the Start screen except Pin to it, remove items from it, rearrange items. I opened the calendar and looked at settings and saw nothing.
Is there any way to find out what the current version number of Windows Mail and Calendar app is? I don't think mine is the most current and I have a bug that sometimes makes a New Event post to the previous day. How would I go about updating this app as I can't find a check for updates button or anything like that. BTW, I have version no. 17.6525.42271.0.
After doing a repair via SFC /scannow I noticed that the shutdown screen no longer displays during shutdown. The Shutting down splash screen displays, then the monitor goes dark. The screen that shows the processes that are hanging with the option to force shutdown no longer displays.
Is there a registry or other setting that will fix this?
I also made some registry changes (after the above) suggested by a magazine but they don't seem to be working. For example, to enable jump lists in the start menu, it said to add a DWORD called EnableXamlJumpView with a value of 1. I did this but no Jump lists.
When I create a New Event on a specific day (All Day Event), it shows up on the previous day. For instance, a new event entered as an all day event on Sunday the 24th will appear on Saturday the 23rd.
I suddenly have no desktop calendar showing when I click on the time and date in the taskbar. There used to be a huge rectangluar thing with a calendar there, but now nothing.
I added a screenshot to show what it does when I click on the date and time... no calendar pops up.
After a recent Windows 10 update on my laptop and my work computer the date no longer shows on the taskbar. The clock is visible and the calendar pops up when you click on it, but no date. No settings were changed by me and everything is enabled as far as I can tell. Is this just some sort of glitch or is there something I am missing to bring the date back?
Updated a family PC to Windows 10 a few days ago, all went smoothly. Mail and Calendar apps opened, worked and details were put in.
A day later, these two apps - and only these two - will not open. Whether this is clicking the tile, or the name in the apps list, or even getting Cortana to try and launch them, they will not start up. Windows 10 will not allow for uninstalling them. This only happens on one account of the several on that PC - it happens to be the administrator account.
I have another PC that went through the upgrade at the same time, no issues. Under Settings, the working Mail/Calendar app is displayed on that computer as 760 MB. On the 'troublesome' computer, the app is only 450 KB in size (I cannot remember the exact number, I'm not using it right now). I am aware there was a recent update and wondering if this is to blame for not fully replacing the old version or something.
I am encountering a strange problem and I don't know what is causing it. When I turn on my pc, the calendar and mail app is visible and pinned in the start menu. I opened Mail app, started using my PC. After a while clicked start menu to open an application and I noticed the calendar and mail app is gone. So I searched both apps and tried to pin it back to the start menu but when I right click, the only option I have is "Unpin from Start" which means it is there but invisible and there pinned location in the Start Menu is blank and there's nothing to click on.
I have had Win 10 installed and working well until this past week, when the Start button on my keyboard and the on screen icon no longer work. The screen icon will turn dark yellow with either touch or pen, but it does not open. I can right click it and get to that menu, but left click does nothing. Other than resetting Win 10

I'm unable to access the start menu, cortana, or even my calendar. Can't even do it in safe mode. The thing is though, this is only on my main account (which happens to be a microsoft connected account), I have no issue accessing them with the other two (local) accounts on my computer. I've uninstalled any software or updates that I had installed prior to this issue appearing and ran a virus scan but the problem still persists. I'm not quite sure what to do at this point because this is such a weird issue.
I'm in the habit of launching most applications by hitting the Windows key, typing a few letters of the app name, and then hitting Enter.
Unfortunately, the Cortana search box is no longer able to find any applications. It shows me a list of local documents, and offers to search "My Stuff" or the web.
When I choose to search "My Stuff," I can filter by Documents, Folders, Apps, Settings, Photos, Videos and Music. Selecting "Apps" invariably returns no results. I am left to manually navigate through the Start menu which, while not terribly difficult, is more of a hassle than I'm used to.
I've only noticed it on the RTM build (10240), while the previous build (10166) worked fine for me.
After last patch tue, Calendar, mail, alarms/clock will not start, show tiles, but won't start. (Insider 10586). Upgraded my other partition from 10240 to 10586, (NOT insider) all is fine.
after been using Windows 10 since launch I've got annoyed by those silly things whenever I click start menu for longer than like 2 or 3 minutes. When it happens, the windows desktop flickers to black. I uninstalled the drivers and used the microsoft generic drivers and it does the same thing. Of course, when I go to safe mode and I can't use the start menu as it just opens and closes in less than the second on its own. Because of this I've been researching this through Google and it somehow all of that kinda doesn't seem to relate to that. Also, I get the error message when I shut down and I couldn't get to see the error message because windows shuts all that stuff down.

My computer has a mind of its own apparently. I can no longer view my regular desktop. All I get is the full start screen with all the stupid tiles on it. I have tried changing my settings, restarting, shutting down and rebooting, nothing is working. When I click the windows logo all I get is that same full start screen. Am I missing something? All I want is for it to show me my regular, normal desktop. Not these tiles!
I have used my laptop to type in the calendar event but I want to sync with my Google Calendar across my Android device using my Google account. How Can I do it?
So i currently have windows 10, build 10162, and i like the OS X, especially since i do video editing, and i love the workflow. The problem is, everything on my PC is optimized for windows, and some things wouldnt work on a mac, and i didnt want to spend the money on a mac. I know its possible to dualboot some OS's so i want to know if theres a way i can just add an OS to my current pc. I have an extra HDD that i could put it on. And i want to put Yosemite on it, and i also have an intel CPU, nvidia card, which i believe is necessary for a hackintosh.
I have a Dell XPS 15 L502X + IN2020M_Digital monitor connected via laptop’s HDMI port. Graphics is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I can no longer Duplicate the displays. However, PC Screen Only, Extend, and Second Screen Only will work.In Device Manager I have uninstalled both the IN2020M and the Generic PnP Monitor and restarted. They were added back but no change.I basically confirmed that the monitor is not the problem because I also can't Duplicate the displays when a projector is connected via HDMI.
