i just installed windows 10 from a flash drive and i have encountered a few problems:i can't use any Microsoft apps (including the one you need to link your microsoft account) start menu and search doesn't start i can't right click any apps in my taskbar
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I decided to add an app. I clicked on the store app and then picked the app I wanted and then clicked on Free. A menu came up that said choose account so I clicked on Microsoft Account and a screen popped up for about one second and then was gone.
I then went up to the upper right hand of the screen and clicked on the icon to the left of the search window and clicked on Sign In, then I clicked on Microsoft Account and the same thing happened again, a screen popped up and then in a second it was gone. What is causing this?
Below is the screen I see for a few seconds before it goes away. Also, when I go into Setting/Account and click on "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" the same thing happens.
I was downloading an app that i know is safe but the last time i downloaded it was with Win 7 , this time with Win 10 i get the below message , should i have this installed and if i do i am kind of wondering why the Win 10 ISO missed it .
View 2 RepliesEvery time I open a game that I run in borderless windowed or windowed mode, I get this stupid "Game Bar" garbage.
I did a little research, and it seems you can stop it from auto-opening in windowed games by opening the Xbox "app" and disabling it from there. However, whenever I open the Xbox "app", I'm asked to log in with a Microsoft Account. I do not want to do this because I don't have a MS Account, nor do I want one. And it seems that even if you log in with a Microsoft Account, you're forced to create an Xbox Gamertag before you can access the settings.
How do I stop this garbage "Game Bar" without a Xbox/Microsoft Account?
How did I miss this one? I tested Office for Android when there were only Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Then Outlook became available. To be fair, I got an invite, but hadn't paid attention, since I didn't expect more than the base apps in the new Preview.
Now it seems that the whole enchilada is available for Android phones. I'm going to jump off the ledge and guess it's also available for Android tablets, since I haven't read Ed Bott's article.
I'm running Windows 10 64-bit and noticed one day when opening my start menu to open up word that in the programs list (now called "all apps" for some reason) the launcher for Microsoft Office 2013 Word wasn't in the folder labeled "Microsoft Office" but rather, it was under the "W" section as its own program. I went into the file location, and all the applications are in a folder there, but for some reason in the start menu, it's not in the Microsoft Folder. This bugs me, and I can't find any way to edit the start menu's folders/programs etc. in Windows 10. Before I continue, I must say that I'm a little biased toward the older versions of Windows, and am rather dissatisfied with the way Microsoft is heading.
View 7 RepliesMy new ASUS laptop came with Windows 10, so this is not an upgrade install, but an OEM purchase, and therefore not a pre-release build. My problem is this: I accidentally uninstalled the Mail/Calendar app that comes with Win10, thinking that they were two separate apps. In uninstalling Mail (which I have no use for), the uninstall also took away Calendar (done through a Powershell command).
I understand I can get these back through the App Store, but only if I have a Microsoft Account. I do not want, and do not have, a Microsoft Account. Is there ANY way I can get the Calendar app back on my machine? I do not want to convert my local account to a Microsoft Account.
I still have the icon for MS Store in my taskbar, but it no longer works. Clicking on it does nothing. When I click the START button, the MS Store App is grayed out.
View 4 RepliesAs others have noted, the bundled Microsoft People app tried to update this morning, but mine failed (as per reliability history). After that, clicking on the People app icon failed to launch the app.
So I decided to try and uninstall the app in order to reinstall it from the windows app store. Using powershell in admin mode, I think I managed to uninstall it, but perhaps not completely. Now the app icon has gone from All Apps, but searching for people finds something called @ {Microsoft.people_10.0.3450 ... etc.
Also, finding the People app in the Store says that it's already installed.
How to I properly clear it off my system and reinstall it properly? I know it might not be the best contacts app out there, but it's OK and right now it's a mess that I want to try to sort out...
I've just updated to Windows 10 and found it impossible to print a document from Microsoft Word. When I press the "print" logo, or "Ctrl.P" I get a dialog box titled "Save Print Output as" with no facility to actually print. I've tried all the usual remedies... swearing, invoking the Almighty, banging my head on the table and threatening the computer with death...all to no avail.
There's probably something very simple that I've missed, but it still eludes me. Why do they mess about with something that has worked perfectly well up to now? All I want is to be able to print a doc. when I press "Print" ... is this too much to ask?
These seem very useless to me and i want them off my pc because they cause an annoyance to me

How to locate these programs in my registry to get them off my pc.
Since I upgraded I cannot open my excel. It was working fine in Win 7. It tells me that I need to download Msvcr90.dll. I did and it seemed to work for Word, but it does not want to open Excel.

View 2 RepliesFor some reason; every time I try and start outlook; it encounters a problem and crashes and closes on me. Even after i use the office disc to to a install repair; it works for a short time; then the problem starts all over again. It says microsoft outlook has stopped working. This is with office 2010 by the way.

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to setup Cortana and have been doing for some time now.
I've fixed the issues regarding "Not Available in your Country / Region" by setting all my settings to UK and made sure they're all the same.
NOW MY ISSUE is that when I go through the setup of Cortana, it says "Finally I need you to sign in to a Microsoft account", the Window pops up very briefly and the disappears, therefor I CANNOT ADD a Microsoft account.
I have also tried going to Settings -> Accounts -> Other accounts I use
I have gone to "Add extra accounts" and I can successfully add my Microsoft account there, upon logging in I can setup Cortana perfectly fine. However I need it to work with my Domain (Work) account and not signing in with a Microsoft Account (hope that makes sense). Everyone else in my team has managed to link their Domain account with a Microsoft account using the Cortana setup, however I can't as the box just disappears!!!
In Windows 10 is new app for photos and albums as default picture viewer.
In Windows 8.1 I used JPEGView, and sometimes Windows Photo Viewer.
Now I'm customizing Windows and I know how to start Photo Viewer from cmd and created context menu item.
I want to associate pictures again to JPEGView and have context menu item for Windows 10 Photos, so, how to run Photos from command line?
I need finding the folder for the games I downloaded from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10. It gets annoying finding games through the search tool and having them pinned to my taskbar would also be inconvenient. I would rather they were in a folder.

retrieving a Microsoft office product key.
I'd upgraded my sister's laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without saving any of its files (clean install). Now I was told that she does not know her Microsoft office keys.
Is there any way for me to retrieve the keys? It's a student key which was given by her Uni and she does not keep the keys.
After install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update now all apps in Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus except Microsoft Word configure each time they start.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus with same result.
