Can Stop Dreaded Task Bar Error From Recurring?

Dec 17, 2015

Is there anything that can stop the dreaded Windows 10 Task Bar error from recurring? The task bars on both of our lap tops have randomly seized on several occasions. This has included the Start button and all Microsoft Apps pinned on the task bar losing functionality. Different updates (reloads) appear to correct the problem but only temporarily. After a month of respite it has just hit again. All of the fixes listed on the various forums have been tried and have actually made matters worse.

Encountered The Dreaded Flashing Screen

Feb 6, 2016

I tried upgrading last august from windows 7 and encountered the dreaded flashing screen. it was not all that easy to revert to windows 7 with a minimally unresponsive computer but i managed to do it. Question - Has this issue been resolved and will I encounter the same problem again if I try the upgrade again? Windows 7 is working fine on my desktop HP and I really don't want to deal with the hassle again.

BSOD :: Recurring Blue Screen Using External USB?

Dec 21, 2015

I am having this BSOD whenever i skip a video a few seconds reading the file from a usb 3.0 external disk. It is slightly random but always happens in the above mentioned situation.

The computer is a new computer, about 3 weeks now. This has always happened since it was built.

I thought i had resolved the issue when i discovered that the disk had some errors, by running chskdsk, (it came from a mac computer) and was managed well by windows. Right now the disk is fine.

Recurring Start / Search And System Tray After Updates

Feb 10, 2016

After every successful windows update my machine runs through the same scenario.

1. The sound stops working briefly and then is restored.
2. The Start, Search and System Tray buttons become unresponsive.

Apps on the taskbar and desktop run as normal and the machine functions fine apart from the problems listed above.

Running an SFC scan in power shell finds no integrity violations.
Running a DISM /Cleanup /Restore Health command in powershell completes successfully but doesn't fix any of the problems.
Running the command "Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}" in powershell stalls very early during the "Processing" stage and doesn't resume.

The only thing that works is a System Restore to a date before the newest Windows 10 update but this is an inconvenient solution and the problem inevitably rears its head again after a few days.

Task Scheduler Error

Aug 15, 2015

When I access Task Scheduler, an error appears that says SqmUpload_S-1-5-21......... no longer exists. To see the current tasks, click Refresh. However, the same message appears when I click Refresh. I can close the message and it appears the Task Scheduler is OK. A person on the Microsoft boards gave me several steps to follow beginning with booting into Safe Mode. However, I received a message when I accessed Task Scheduler that it doesn't function in Safe Mode.

Error When Opening Task Manager

Nov 5, 2015

or a few days now I am unable to install or uninstall anything, do a anti-virus-scan, run anything as administrator, opening an .exe-file or simply opening the Task-Manager. I always get the same error message (see attachment). Except when I'm in Safe Mode.

Avira-Systemcheck in Safe Mode doesn't find anything bad and so I have no clue what causes this and how to repair it.

Can't Send Emails In Outlook 2013 - Task Reported Error

Jul 30, 2015

Since installing Windows 10 and Outlook 2013 on my main machine, I've had the following error when trying to send e-mails: Sending reported error (0x800CCC13): Cannot connect to the network. Check your network connection or modem.Oddly, the test e-mail when setting up the account works. I even re-installed Windows 10/Outlook 2013 and the same problem occurred, I tried a different e-mail account on another machine and the same error occurred.I can send just fine using Windows 7 and all the config options are exactly the same.

So far I've tried:
Disabling the AV software
Disabling all Outlook plugins
Tried different e-mail accounts
Recreated outlook profiles.

what I could try next? I'm currently running "sfc / scannow" as a quick Google shows that this may resolve it for some people.

Can't Stop PC From Sleeping

Dec 14, 2015

I'm on the latest Insider build. I don't want my PC to sleep nor the monitors to sleep nor the hard drives. Unlike most other issues with sleep and Win10, my problem isn't waking it up but keeping it awake.

Microsoft seem to have scattered the sleep options all over the place. I methodically worked my way round, starting in Settings where I can quite simply select no sleep for both the computer and the monitors. Simple? Nope. I found relevant settings in these places:

Right click desktop and choose display settings
Also from display settings choose advance power settings
Control Panel Power Settings
Change Plan settings

Maybe these are all links to the same settings but in any event whichever route I take, the PC still sleeps or the monitors still turn off or both. Or the screen saver kicks in.

I wonder if the UEFI bios is over-riding Windows? God knows but how can I keep my PC awake overnight

Task Manager Says 100%

Oct 19, 2015

the task manager always states that my CPU is at 100% and various applications are using a huge amount of power. Sometimes it'll say skype is using 54%, other times chrome same thing, sometimes even jumping to 70%. But coretemp reads perfectly normal 15% on cpu or roughly that. Some things to note, I only noticed it after installing drivers for my elgato HD60 pro, and while using skype, starting a screen share would stop the glitch for a while. So needless to say, I'm not sure what it is. It could not be the drivers because that's only when I noticed it.

Oh, I should also note that I have re installed windows 10 about 4 times to come to the same problem. Checked malware and everything. Official ISO from media tool as well.

Nothing On Task Bar Will Open

Jan 24, 2016

In windows 10, when i left click the start menu (the little 4 boxes on bottom left) search bar, anything on the right side like time and date/sound/ network, etc nothing opens up at all.

EDIT: IF I SWITCH MY SEARCH BAR TO A ICON AND LEFT CLICK IT AND PUT IT BACK TO NORMAL MY SEARCH BAR WORKS BUT NOTHING ELSE. AND I HAVE TRIED THIS COMMAND TO FIX IT BUT IT DID NOT WORK Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} INSTEAD IT MADE MY WINDOWS STORE HAVE NO ICON AND IT CRASHES WHEN I OPEN IT AND FOR SOME REASON THE NAME OF THE WINDOWS STORE IS SOME WEIRD CODING STARTING WITH

sfc /scannow found nothing and i cant right click any programs like firefox, if i rightclicked it in the toolbar nothing pops up.

How To Stop Upgrade Popups

Nov 26, 2015

At the urging of the popups from MS urging me to upgrade to Windows 10 ads I ran the compatibility test the results of which assured me that my computer was compatible with Windows 10. I then upgraded and started using Windows 10. I had all sorts of problems after that. I contacted the manufacturer of my system (DELL) and they told me that they were not supporting my system with drivers for Windows 10 and that I needed to pay a fee to their tech support for restoring my system back to Windows 7 for a stiff charge. The DELL tech spent hours using Remote Assist and the telephone to restore Windows 7. After restoring Windows 7 I had lost a lot of important documents and spent hours solving all sorts of remaining problems. I now have Windows 7 back and running well but I am constantly subjected to those annoying pop ups urging me to download and install the Windows 10 upgrade. How do I get rid of those?

My current system -
Hardware: DELL Studio XPS 435 MT
OS: Windows Home Premium 7 SP1
