Sep 1, 2015After a driver (I think one related to Intel graphics, but i am not shure) was unsuccesfully installed, I had a BSOD problem, hard restart, kernel error message (unable to reproduce it afterward). Some applications from taskbar partially work (Office, Skype), some not. I am unable to open the Start menu (but the right click still works). The Edge disapeared, I post from anothe PC. Restarted a few times, tried to restore to a previous backup of drivers - nothing works.

Aug 15, 2015I installed Windows 10 very recently and I like it, but I have a VERY BIG show-stopper: when I try to do search in the start menu, it's terrible; it cannot even find an application that I have manually pinned to start. I didn't have any such problem with Windows 8.1. I have also installed some other desktop applications, for example GitHub for Windows, but when I start to to type "Git...", it only finds "GitHub" and it cannot find "Git Shell" and I have to go to all programs, find "G", then expand the folder for this application and run that application.

Oct 23, 2015I got Windows 10 home a few months now. No problems whatsoever with the installation or setup/usage and it'd fast and bug free. My problem happened just last week...
I used to press the WIN key & S to search for files. Or i can press the START button and just start typing. It will search for my files & search the internet (cortana search). Now nothing happens when i search.
When i press WIN+S, and type something, it just sit's there doing nothing, but it seems like Cortana is thinking or about to give out information, but nothing happens at all. Same as on the start menu. I type out something and no information is given, it wont search for any of my files or nothing.
I am at a lost. In the past, it worked perfectly, like Windows 8.1. Press START, & type.

Jul 31, 2015I've noticed now on multiple computers I've installed Windows 10 on, that a quick win-key search isn't able to bring up installed apps. I'm sure this isn't how it's meant to be, and that there must be a fix... right?

Jul 31, 2015I installed Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I have some minor problems with the start menu. When I search for an installed program most of the times it wont find it but instead it will show me to look it on the web. I believe that it has a connection with the fact that the menu "All apps" doesn't show all apps but only some of them.

Jan 10, 2016So I upgraded to Windows 10 and so far everything seems to be working fine however the one problem I've had is a problem with the icons for Google Chrome and Origin on the start menu. The Chrome icon is really over sized compared to what it should be and is on a black background and the Origin icon has a black background. I've looked everywhere online and can't find a solution, I don't really want to reinstall Google Chrome, I reinstalled origin and it didn't fix it.

Customization :: Transparent Start Menu Icon Background?
Jul 30, 2015On the start menu each application / file has an associated icon. Unfortunately it appears that Windows 10 is using the accent color as the icon's background. So I get squares of color with the icon in the middle. There are screen shots from Windows 10 previews that show the icon backgrounds as transparent, or at least matching the background color of the start menu. But with transparency turned on, the icon backgrounds are not transparent, but instead the accent color.
It is as if Microsoft said "Hey - ALL icons should be SQUARE - so we will make all icons SQUARE just like tiles, whether you like it or not".
So - how does one make the start menu icon background color transparent?
Start Icon In Lower Left Corner Does Not Respond
Feb 23, 2016on a brand new upgrade from Windows 8, the start icon in the lower left corner does not respond to left button mouse clicks. It does see the mouse over and responds to right button clicks. Also when trying to pin an icon to the taskbar, it does not respond to a right click. The logged in user is an administrator. I have re-booted several times.

Feb 10, 2016The left-click on my Start icon has stopped working and several reboots have not resolved the situation. My Windows key doesn't work either. I cannot launch Edge either. I'm running Windows 10 Home on a new Dell laptop.
What the heck is going on and how do I fix it? I've got apps that don't appear on my desktop which I am completely unable to use now.
For what it's worth, I can right-click the Start button since my latest reboot but I can't left-click it. (On the previous reboot, I couldn't right- or left-click it.)
I need this machine working ASAP because I use it for my job and my shift just started!

Sep 5, 2015I have Pinned a few sites to the start menu using Microsoft Edge. My problem is that all of them have the same "E" edge (internet explorer) icon. So unless I keep them at large size, or remember in what order they were pinned/arranged, I have no clue which pin is for which site.

Feb 10, 2016A customer brought me a machine with an issue I have never seen before. All desktop icons were gone and the only thing on the desktop is 3 lines in the upper left (opens an empty start menu), 3 lines in the lower left (opens all programs list) and the power button above that. I have managed to bring the desktop icons back but when I click the start menu it switches from the desktop with icons to the above mentioned screen with no icons. When it is on this new screen you can't right click on anything. A new user works as it should.

Aug 4, 2015My Windows 10 is in Turkish so some folder descriptions my differ from the English one! I'm using a folder in D (Windows 10 installed on C) named as Downloads to secure my downloaded files incase of a format or etc and changed the location of the Windows Downloads folder by simply right clicking the folder and choosing the Properties > Location in C:User[my username]
But in the start menu (which i enabled the view of Downloads folder from Control Panel>Personalizations>Start>Choose which folders ll be shown>Downloads "ON") when i click on Downloads it says "This shorcut doesnt work............... Do you want to delete the shortcut?"
How can i correct this error?
