Everytime on my brand new computer i have to change the settings for the touch pad and click apply.. When i reboot the computer the settings are back at default settings.. Is there something i am not doing right..

Camera roll, pictures, saved pictures, music, videos - they won't die. Sure would like them to.
I have a home built Desk Top Computer and when I turned it on this morning and when it finished booting I had lost a lot of my icons and what was there all moved to the left side of the screen and the wallpaper went back to the Windows 10 Default. Also the Application short cut screen that comes up when you left click on the Windows icon in the bottom left enlarged and took up half my screen. I tried to adjust it by using the mouse and dragging it but that wouldn't work either. About a month or little more ago I had upgraded from Win 7 Home Prem with no problems at all. It has been working fine until this morning. I had to go back to a restore point to correct it. My wife has a Toshiba Laptop that I upgraded about the same time and hers did the same thing except that she didn't loose her Icons or wallpaper they all just moved to the left of the screen.

View 8 RepliesAll of my games look like they are in 3D. I can't fix it and I ran a full scan of my system and it found nothing. BEFORE YOU ASK. I have unplugged it, restarted it, and set my control panel for nvidia back to default. The only thing left is to wipe the OS completely and I don't really want to do that.

View 3 RepliesFirst, my desktop icons keep reverting back to default positions. I place my shortcuts at custom locations in my desktop and when I refresh, they go back to the left. And whenever I restart my computer, they change back to the default large icon size.
I've searched the web on how to fix this and I haven't been able to find a working solution on this problem.
Then, Edge is now having a problem too. Edge starts just fine but the problem shows up when you type in a website you wanna go to. It will just sit there doing nothing. It's responding but it's just not doing anything... If you click the open new tab (The plus button) nothing happens. When you try to close it, nothing happens too....
I can still browse the web using other browsers (chrome for example) so it must be on Edge's side.I've ran virus scans with ESET and Windows Defender and they haven't found a virus so I'm pretty sure my computer is clean.
Its possible to customize one or more folders to a specific file view like "list" or "details" for example? Whenever I close the folder or go back to the previous folder the default system sets back default view which was adopted by the system or the view that was defined by me for all the folders in: Folder Options -> View -> Apply to Folders.

View 3 RepliesNew Windows 10 Home Computer, set up using PCMover from Windows 7 Home Premium Computer. A few problems, of course, so far mainly applications that did not transfer properly, and those easily solved.
One problem however I don't understand, and, therefore, cannot fix. I've gone into the settings for default applications, some of which are constantly ignored. I know that they are ignored, as WinPatrol keeps notifying me of attempted changes. One such pop-up is on the screen right now, stating that a change for files with the extension .avi have been changed from the setting to use VLC media player to use Windows Media Player. I clicked on No, to reject the change, whereupon a new one, this time for .cab files popped up. I will reject it, and a series of such changes will appear and be rejected.
When I try to customize my font size display settings (see attached), they revert back to default after a reboot.
I did a fresh install of Win 10, and this was the first thing I checked, just to make sure nothing was interfering with it.
Win 10 not working. Went to settings to revert to win 8. The settings screen will not pop up other than an instant flash.
Problems with 10- won't let me sign in to outlook (outlook wont respond). wont let me connect a monitor. typing delay. no settings screen. won't let me open downloads from internet. no email unless i sign in from chrome search engine.
How do i revert without a settings screen?
I have gone into settings in my Windows 10 and changed the default music player from groove music to windows media player. But when I click on music files, it automatically starts playing in Groove and NOT windows media player. I have restarted Windows several times with the same results.

Favourites are gone, I have to run xcopy to add back. Google search is no longer the default search provider. It also offers to remember password which I disabled.

When opening the browser, or windows media player, all my custom settings were gone and it was as if the programs were being used for the first time. The default program used to open files (e.g. the original program instead of windows media player) had all reverted also.The start button was/is also not working.
I then discovered my files are still there and accessible - to do so I have to right-click on one of the programmes on desktop and 'open file location' then I can use the left column to (through windows explorer) get to C drive then 'Users' then 'John' and I can access everything that way.Also, the keyboard settings have bizarrely changed ie shift + 2 gives the @ sign instead of quotation mark.I have Norton which suggests no virus involved.I didn't have system restore activated.When computer starts it says press DEL to enter setup but nothing happens when I press it.is there anyway to fix this without doing a reset?
Trying to reinstall a WD MyBook external hard drive. Receiving the following "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer" Following diagnosis receiving "Restore network protocols to default settings", and "Windows Sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing". My computer is an HP Pavilion 23 all-in-one. My wireless router (connected with an Ethernet cord) is an ATT 67XHG8k.
View 4 RepliesI tried out the Insider Preview 10547 build last night, but chose to roll back to the full Windows 10 Pro build due to not being able to fully apply custom themes and the context menu not coming up on the desktop. Anyway, the rollback went fine, but now for some reason I can't make adjustment to the Start Menu. When my desktop had finished rolling back to the previous build, most of my live tiles had disappeared, specifically the Settings, CMD, and a few other apps I had pinned to the menu. The only tiles that were still showing were the games I'd pinned before applying the 10547. I can't even bring up the Weather, Store, or many other apps by searching for them. The apps still show in Apps and Features under System in Settings, which means the apps are still installed, I just can't seem to access them, although I haven't tried to get to them through a file explorer yet. Also, under Choose which folders appear on Start, every setting is grayed out. I actually rolled back from a previous test build before and everything came up normally, so I'm not sure what happened this time.
View 2 RepliesI somehow messed up my max memory setting from 8196 to 520 in the system configuration under the 'Boot' tab. Every time I try to restart my laptop, it said bad_system_config_error. How to change back my max memory setting to default. Btw, I'm using lenovo y510p and my os is windows 10.

Is there anyway to solve this issue and is it related to my wifi drivers?
I am having a problem whereby my default browser keeps changing from IE11 back to either Edge or blank. Why this might be happening or what program is causing it to change? I thought it maybe the Windows Auto Update that keep changing but am now not so sure of that since the last recorded update is back on 14th January and my default Browser got changed again last evening.
The only other programs that run regularly are Norton Internet Security and Norton Utilities. However, I have been through the settings of both of those programs and cannot detect anything that would indicate that they change the default Browser.
Also, in IE11 under the advanced tab I have ticked the option the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser" and yet (a) I do not get a notification and (b) the default browser keeps getting changed.
I just currently started having this issue. My computer runs completely fine. However I applied recent windows 10 upgrades and I for some reason had to restart I cant remember why. However after the initial restart the computer simply stayed on and didn't initiate boot. I then turned off the computer and turned it back on. It boots fine, no problems. However if I set the computer to restart from the start menu it will but it wont boot back. It will just stay on and make a louder fan noise but wont reboot?
