My wifi worked fine until I installed the november update. Workarond by deleting the driver and reboot, didn't work. Tried another PciE card, but same problem.Previous driver HP 802.11 b/g. HP support does not show newer drivers.
View 2 RepliesOkay I just upgraded to Windows 10 this morning and I had all of my downloaded files from other websites all in the desktop under a folder called software after the upgrade it opened up Windows 10 and ran me through the tutorial, and had me reboot after I change some settings. when it rebooted it took about 20 minutes said something about some new features and "we want to show you new features" and others some other junk.
Finally when I did pull the explorer back up the only thing that was there was the recycle bin, my computer, and the downloads folder which was empty I went through every inch of my hard drive I even went over it with undelete Pro and still no traces of my files they were archive files and setup files for software. when I finally did find a trace of one of my old folders, the only thing that would it would tell me was that it was unavailable and that it must've been moved or deleted I took a picture of the error message and can't find answers anywhere..
I am using Windows 10 in Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet. I installed Fresco Logic Thin2000 USB display driver in Windows 10. After the reboot windows 10 started crashing. I did boot in safe mode but safe mode is preventing me from uninstalling it.
What do I do? this was installed so that I could connect device to projector. In safe mode I am unable to remove it and windows 10 is not booting in normal mode. It showing error system_service_exception(Ddkmd.sys) at boot.
Since upgrading to win 10, I am having problems with sound not being permanent. Don't quite know how to approach it. This is VIA HD audio on an ECS motherboard. The icon on the taskbar shows that sound is on, and at 75%. But when I test it, there is no sound coming through the speakers. So I uninstall the driver, I scan for hardware changes; it reinstalls itself. Then I check the configuration, it's set to headphones as default. I change it to speakers, test the sound, and it works. Now when I restart my system for some reason, the sound is gone again, and I need to go through the same routine. I have downloaded the specific driver for VIA HD (they only have a driver for Win 8), installed it, and it doesn't work at reboot. make my driver more permanent, so that it's not lost at reboot?

Each time it reboots and starts over saying it has to remove old. I tried removing old on my own first and starting over.. still no effect.. what do i do ...
I am a bit suspicious if Windows keeps on installing an older driver or something so it keeps starting over...
I keep getting these two error
i) Driver IRQL NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error
ii) Driver_Power_State_Error
It was fine last night then suddenly today, this error keep appearing. Is there a way to fix it? I've been searching for solution but I still don't know what to do.
It seems that Microsoft feels that they need to force me to upgrade to WIN 10 even though I do not need it. My system consistently flashes the WIN 10 upgrade Now box, and again last night while doing updates it decided to update to WIN 10 on its own. Needless to say, all of my files are gone. My back-up copies are no where to be found. Thus I have decided that Microsoft is no better than any other proprietary system that wants you to do what they want not what you want. Even my carbonate files that I have downloaded over and over again have been deleted. Why can I just not say no and Microsoft leave me ALONE!!!
View 1 RepliesI purchased a new hard drive yesterday for the use of nothing but TV and movies. Hard drive works fine, no issues with that. However, a weird issue I'm having is when I moved over my TV and movies from my D: drive to my new drive, the TV folder became, for all intents and purposes, locked.
All my TV is on my new drive and I can view it fine, so that's not an issue. However, for whatever reason, I still have a TV folder on my D drive. As far as I can tell, it's completely empty, but it refuses to delete. I've tried standard deleting, as well as running the CMD prompt as administrator and trying a "del" command, to no avail.
If I attempt to open it, it opens a dialogue box with the title Location Not Available, and it reads "D:TV is not available, access is denied."
If I try to delete it normally, it says I need admin access, which I provide, and then it says access denied anyway.
If I view the security properties, it says I don't even have permission to read the properties of the file.
I have about 500 empty directories on my c: drive with names like the ones pasted below. I believe a failed Quicken install left them there. Anyway, normally this would be no big deal, but in this case, they are all at the root level and it makes my "real" directories hard to find. I've tired several things to get rid of them. Here's an example of one of my attempts from an Administrators command shell:

I've tried it with PowerShell and with the "hidden" Administrator id, no luck. I also tried to change the security setting for the c: drive itself, also with no luck. Do any of you have a PowerShell script or something similar which will remove these annoying empty directories?
I DO NOT have two OS's installed just one.
However after installing it says that both my HDD and SSD are both system, boot, hibernate.
I can not format or delete my HDD it says that it can not do so because the empty, blank HDD is a "Healthy, hibernate, boot, system drive"
How do I go about deleting this.
I managed to get an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro on my Windows 7 machine, with it waiting to install. I did not wish to do this! I additionally managed to get it to not install and my updates no longer show it as available. I did also manage to get an ISO for later use. I wish to delete the crashed install and it's files, such as the $Windows~* stuff shown below ....

It has a slew of non-Latin fonts that I would like to delete (I have to wade through them all in pick lists on OpenOffice Writer). View 2 RepliesI have been having problems with successfully updating Windows 10 for the past months where the updates failed to install. I followed some steps on deleting some registry keys under ProfileList, which according to the article were causing the problem. However, after deleting one named s-1-5-18 and rebooting, I am now not able to login to my account. I also don't have access to safe-mode for some reason. When I do the Shift-restart procedure, it takes the to the system configuration window with only one option, shutdown computer.
Alternatively, I also have Kali Linux installed (which is how I am writing this threat right now), allowing me to have full access to my Windows partition, the export file of my registry key I deleted, and I even have access to my recycle bin folder, where I can see the folder s-1-5-18 I deleted. However, I don't know the right directory of this folder to move it to or I don't know if I could just import the registry file I exported before all went to hell. So basically, I have full access to every file and folder within my Windows partition from my Linux partition, which leads me to believe that I should be able to fix the registry files from here.
I deleted all the partitions on my hdd,..and created new partitions,...now I can't get the os to install,...

View 5 RepliesI just upgraded my laptop from windows 8 to win 10. The free upgrade of course did not delete my files from window 8 so I went ahead and installed windows 10 on to my USB and booted from it for a clean install. While installing win 10 however I managed to do it on my C drive. I believe my previous OS was on D drive as when I go into my system properties now, C drive = 373 GB free from 393 GB which has the windows icon over it to show that OS is inside it and the 'D' drive has only 43 GB free from 393 GB capacity.
I would like to free up my D drive and delete all previous files and maybe also remove partition and only have one storage which is C drive. How to do it? Do I just go into my D drive and delete all the files inside it? such program files x86 etc? while running window 8 I managed to get a lot of spyware, adware etc on my system and hence why I preferred a clean install of windows 10.
A file named customrefresh.wim remains on my C: drive. 9 Gb big. I believe it is a leftover from windows 8.1. I suspect the folder was created by windows 8.1 in connection with creating a USB recovery drive for the 8.1 system. I should have erased it then, but forgot. Can I do it now?

View 1 RepliesI am having an issue with a registry key that has a bunch of null values placed in it. Pretty much this piece of malware software, added a bunch of null values to the registry key so it makes it impossible for me to view or delete this value. When double clicking on it I get an error saying "Environment cannot be opened".
Trying to right click on the key and changing permissions gives a similar error. There a bunch of tools out there like RegDelNull that's supposed to delete these type of keys but they seem to no longer work with Windows 10. Need deleting this pesky keys on Win 10?
