I've disabled the logon screen but after a week it asks for the password again. This is on a Dell pc. I have 2 other pcs, Asus and HP and the login stays disabled.why the login screen won't stay disabled?
View 4 RepliesMy wife doesn't use a password to log on to her Windows 10 PC. Her user name is her email address when the "Enter Network Credentials" window pops up when access is attempted from other computers. Her email password does not work here. We don't know what password it might be expecting. We've run NETPLWIZ on her machine and cleared the "users must enter a user name and password" box. This has no effect.
View 2 RepliesIf I upgrade a Windows 7 Pro desktop to Windows 10 Pro, then I do not have any issues. However if I do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro, and create the password for the administrative account.
After getting it all setup, I add it to the domain on the network. I can log in with the login info from the Active Directory Server. Now the problem I run into, is say if I want to even change a file name, it asks for the Administrative username and password, at which point I have to enter ComputernameUser for the username then Password when the pop up happens.
Is there a way I can remove that? It doesn't seem to do that on any Windows 7 pro to Win 10 Pro upgrades though. And I have several more machines to do clean installs.
when I start my computers first thing in the morning or when I restart my pc at anytime is there a way to bypass the logon password

View 2 RepliesSo, a while back I had a problem on the Windows 10 Home Edition where it would not let me change my lock screen. Since I didn't have the pro edition, I couldn't change the policy in the registry editor because of a lack of one, so I transferred all my files to a local account. I then had the problem of programs asking me to enter my admin password every time I wanted to access certain protected programs, so I disabled the admin password so this would no longer happen. I then deleted the account which was considered the program and went on with my normal business on my PC.
Later, I restarted my PC, and when I went to login, it said my password was incorrect for my local account. I then went into my boot options, opened command prompt in safe mode and changed my admin password. I then restarted my PC and now I don't even have the option to login at all, coming up with the error message "Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator." Now this problem usually fixed by holding shift and pressing restart to access boot options, but I cannot do this.
Every time I press OK to go back to the lock screen, it instantly goes back to the administrator message, meaning I can't boot anything. I planned on doing a complete reinstall of Windows 10 using a bootable usb iso, but since I can't boot it, this isn't possible, unless I'm missing something such as a key allowing me to launch the boot options from launch, although I've tried keys such as f8 to no avail.
Problem with the logon screen with windows 10. I upgraded on the morning of Saturday 8th August, without any serious problems. However, later on in the afternoon, I had to do a restart, after a virus/malware scan and removal of infections. The OS was updated at this point, after which a serious problem occurred. Once the OS reached the logon screen, it started flashing on and off between Logon screen and time/date start up picture, with the cursor showing busy. It also reported an error message to do with LogonUI .
I had no way to Logon, or to open task manager, so i had to boot into safe mode, and attempt various problem solving solutions read elsewhere for this issue on the net. None of these worked, so i had to roll back to Windows 7 for the time being. Should i upgrade again, this issue will have to be resolved.
Finally, though, i'm led to believe that LogonUI is malware, and not an important system file, but should it be removed, would this be the cause of the issue?
On the screen where you type your password in, any way to change the wallpaper? It's blue windows in smoke and does not match the rest of my theme.

This is the picture that is behind the logon screen, which is by default the Windows 10 hero wallpaper. If you would like to change this image to your accent color, here's how
WARNING: To do this option, you will have to mess with registry settings. As you may know, registry settings influence the way Windows works on your machine. Therefore, if you do something incorrectly, you may have to reinstall Windows. Proceed with caution.
The first step is to open Run (+R) and type regedit
Once Registry Editor opens, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsSystem. There, make a new DWORD value called DisableLogonBackgroundImage and set the value to 1 to change it to your accent color. If you ever wish to revert this change, setting it to 0 will revert it back to the 'Hero' image.
Restart and your logon screen background will now be your accent color that you have selected. If it changes, the color of your logon screen will change as well.
Windows 10 x64 had been working fine. Yesterday, I noticed the system had gone to the spinning circle... I walked away and gave it overnight, but no change. After reboot, I get to the login screen for 30 seconds or so - with no user accounts showing - then it goes to the solid blue screen with spinning dot circle. I suspect the latest update was applied "while I was sleeping".
What I've tried:
Rebooting (Goes to same place)
Safe mode (same login screen - no user accounts listed)
System Restore (No restore points - argh! why?!?!)
System Image Recovery (No system images found)
Startup Repair (allows either admin to authenticate, says "Diagnosing your pc" , then fails) -- logs to d:windowssystem32logfilessrtsrtrail.txt, open in notepad, shows no errors, "OS booted successfully"
Command prompt (works - but what should I look at?)
Go back to previous build - save my files (fails at about 40%) - I would prefer not to delete my files. (though they are backed up)
I am using a Dell Venue 8 Pro with Windows 10 installed. Everytime after Windows Update reboot, the touch keyboard will not be shown on the Logon Screen. I have to use image password to login, and it will resume normal until the next time another Windows Updates are installed.
View 1 Repliesafter an update at starting, tablet laptop start gives picture/clock screen, that slides to the password screen but when password block is touched on screen or mouse clicked the screen flips back to the picture/clock ... how to deal with this kind of lock out that the typing box won't open and loops to clock screen? have turned off for an hour to see if that does it..but if not...would restarting into a repair or recovery be possible fix...i have never been able to get into safe mode without being logged in but have gotten into recovery during a restart which made me wonder if entering a recovery during boot and reversing the upgrade was possible if all else fails...

Since updating the BIOS manually 3 weeks ago, I've been having multiple BSOD and each time the reason appears to be different. However, there are only 4 recorded BSOD in minidumps (I've had a lot more than that... but I don't know where it's gone).

My computer has been regularly crashing about once or twice a day (it's on most of the time) starting on Dec 24th according to Event Viewer. I upgraded my Windows 7 to 10 back when 10 first came out and I haven't had any issues with it until this run of crashes. I haven't changed hardware since November when I upgraded my graphics card. I've run Malware bytes and it came up clean. The programs that are usually running are Steam, Chrome, TeamViewer, Dropbox and VLC Player.
View 1 RepliesUnlike Windows 8.1, the screen on my Yoga 2 Pro doesn't rotate when I turn the device upside down to "tent" mode after installing Windows 10. When swiping right to show the Action Center, the Rotation Lock tile is disabled, as is this setting in the Control Panel.
View 9 RepliesIn win7 and win8.1, i could set the screen of my tablet (Lenovo Miix3) to switch off after 3 min (not sleep, just switch off the screen). Tapping the touchscreen would bring it immediately to life again.
With win10, this does not happen. I need to click the on/off button to bring up the screen. So, it seems that Win10 switches off the touchscreen electronics. This is not a hardware issue, because previous Windows versions would let me switch off the touchscreen backlight but retain its sensitivity to touch (and therefore switching on upon tapping).
What do I need to do to restore the standard behavior (tappable touchscreen after switchoff) in Win10?
My touch screen randomly won't work, only to find that it's disabled in Device Manager. "USB Input Device" is what it shows up as. I believe it's a software I have installed that may be interfering.
View 3 RepliesI'm at my wits end with this computer. I get BSOD 0x124 about once a week, some times twice a week, since the life of the computer, which I've had for about 3 years. I've changed out the mobo from a GA-Z77X-UD3H to my current mobo a Z77 Extreme6 I've run memtest on each dim, had to RMA two of them due to the hammer test, and even with the fresh new ram, I still get BSOD almost daily.
While running the dm_log_collector to get the info to upload to this forum, I had another BSOD 124 while the program was collecting my PC's info. Luckily I was able to re run it after I booted to my computer.
No Im not OCing ANYTHING. This happens when the bios defaults are loaded. Happens when I turn off intel turbo boost and/or C states, and shared memory. XMP profile for my MEM on or off makes no difference. I also have a kernal memory dump ....
I can't find a case were a BSOD code 124 ever gets solved. I know that a 124 is usually hardware related but not all the time.

View 1 RepliesWhen I try to turn smart screen on, the options are greyed out, and I am told that "this setting is managed by your system administrator". I tried running the reg file "Set_SmartScreen_to_get_administrator_approval.reg" but it didn't change anything.
