Oct 7, 2015I just downloaded bat file to stop auto arrange and now my screen is blank! WTH? I was trying to arrange a manuscript to send to editor.

Nov 1, 2015I have the Auto Arrange Icons turned off.But when I try to drag an icon somewhere it refuses displaying a circle with a line through it.I can Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V it to a folder somewhere else but that is not what I want to do.I have tried using 'Fences' (but it will not let me drag the items into the fences either (have deleted 'Fences' just in case it was causing the problem - it was not the cause of the problem).I don't have a lot of icons on my screen, but do like to arrange them.

Nov 29, 2015I have disliked this "feature" since windows 7 and I see they still have not restored the ability to manually sort without having to give every file a "tag". Note: I do not want to use windows live essentials as I hate photo gallery, so this is not an option. I used to be able to arrange my photos by dragging and dropping them next to another similar photo and it would snap to grid where I dropped it. This eliminate duplicate pictures. I found this ink for windows 7:
Windows Explorer Auto Arrange - Disable. However it says very clearly at the beginning not to use it for any other OS versions. Does this works for windows 10 as well or if there is a way to do it in windows 10? I would prefer a 3rd party program as oppose to editing my registry if it can work (all the things that need "fixing" for customization in windows 10 seem to always suggest a reg fix, but I am afraid to edit my registry too much).

Aug 15, 2015I can open the properties on any folder, and go to the "customize" tab and "optimize" it, whatever that thinks it means.. And it does nothing.
I really don't like how windows tries to auto-read mp3 tags when most of my mp3s have no tags. I want the details view (which I use almost everywhere) to display, name, size, and date.
How can I stop 10 from trying to show me empty track numbers, and empty album names without going through hundreds of folder manually? The "apply to all sub-folders" does not work, even applying to the folder in question doesn't work. It leaves the column as "music" when I want them to be like "document".
In summary, the Customize "optimize for" selection seems to have no function...?

Oct 8, 2015I was recently e-mailed a PDF file from a friend and when I went to download it, it showed up like this. [URL] ....
When I tried to open it, it asked me what program I would like to use. I was able to open it up with adobe reader and I was able to view it in the e-mail that it was received in. However, when I tried attaching the file to an e-mail for a different recipient, I could no longer view it in the e-mail and it still downloaded the same way in the imgur link.
The only way I was able to fix this was I saved the pdf from the original e-mail to my google drive, then I downloaded it to my computer from my google drive, and it actually showed up as a pdf file.
My question is, why was I able to view it through the gmail pdf reader when I first received it, but when I downloaded it, it showed up with no extension?
Downloaded Upgrade But Can't Find The File?
Oct 11, 2015I did a download of Windows 10 a while ago, but didn't update straight away. I now want to upgrade but I cannot find the file to do so.
I used to get notifications telling me to do the upgrade. The reminders really annoyed me as they kept popping up in the most inopportune times, so I turned off the reminders off according to the instructions for not getting the reminder.
What to do to the actual upgrade from Windows 7.1 to Windows 10.?

Installation :: Black Screen Of Doom But Booted To Login Screen (no Cursor Just Blank)
Jan 18, 2016I did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.

Jan 29, 2016I am running win 10 pro 32 and the way I have file explorer set up is in List view in name order, the problem I have is because there are so many folders when I right click and copy a name ( i.e. Tech Reports v23) then right click and make a new folder, that "new folder" is thrown into alphabetical order before I can paste the name in, usually as i try I've clicked in an empty location meaning i have to go through the routine of right click then rename then paste, not fun when you have between 20 to 40 a day to do. So need switching off the refresh while im working in that folder so it only refreshes when i manually right click once I've finished working

Feb 23, 2016Whenever I do the File History Backup; at completion it gives me the following message: "Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:UsersAdminSkyDrivePictures. Error: (The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))". I believe this occurred for the first time after I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I no longer have a SkyDrive folder it was replaced with a OneDrive folder. For some reason it is still looking for the SkyDrive folder. In the "Exclude from File History" screen I am unable to exclude the SkyDrive folder. I guess that doesn't surprise me because I no longer have SkyDrive folder. How then do I prevent this error occurring when doing a File History backup?
