After a critical update on the 20th, my computer will no longer boot. I have tried using this method to reset, i have also tried using the repair tools to return to windows 7, which fails as well. System restore also fails. My computer didnt come with recovery disks. I called tech support and they transferred me to sales so i could buy a clean copy of windows 10. get back to windows 7. I was a fool to upgrade.

So I've been trying to update to WIN 10 a lot of times since it came out. Unfortunately the update fails around 80-90% and a BSOD shows up. The BSOD says something like Kernel Inpage Error. I've tried to update from Windows Update, the media creator tool and from the "Get Windows 10" program.

I have been trying for a full week now, to no avail. Whenever I apply the update, it goes to the "Restarting" screen...and gets stuck there indefinitely. Even after a few hours, it's still on that screen. So ultimately I have to force shutdown my PC (after which I can use it as per normal). I also do not believe I have any malware on my PC (have scanned multiple times with Kaspersky just to be sure). I had updated to Windows 8 > 8.1 > 10 on this same PC before and never faced a single issue. I also never mess around much with default system settings.

I reserved my copy of windows 10. I have tried to update it plenty of time but every time i do it fails during the second boot, it stops at 93% and goes to a black screen for a while, than it says "restoring back to your previous version of windows" I dont know what to do. I tried mostly everything. I deleted all the files in the software distribution and went into command prompt and put in wuauclt.exe /updatenow that didnt work. I downloaded the windows tool directly from windows that didnt work.

I have recently been trying to update an old hp laptop running windows 7. The 10130 update is showing ready to download, it downloads and tried to install but repeatedly fails at around 70-80% each time. It gives an error code of 800703f1 each time.
I have tried disabling all security features and firewalls etc. The laptop will not let me restore or reset to factory settings. I am not able to download the bios file as i have no flash drive to put it onto.

At one time, I had Windows 2013 on my desktop computer. At some point I upgraded to Office 2016 and uninstalled Office 2013. However, every day for weeks now, Windows Update has tried (unsuccessfully) to install the following:
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2956151) 64-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Lync 2013 (KB2956174) 64-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2899522) 64-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2881001) 64-Bit Edition
Security Update for Microsoft Lync 2013 (KB2881013) 64-Bit Edition
Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 64-Bit Edition
I don't know if other updates are being blocked because these can't be installed. Plus, there appears no way to tell Windows Update NOT to try to install these again, as previous versions of Windows had.

I have a SteelSeries Sensei mouse and a Razer BlackWidow keyboard. Windows 10 daily attempts to install a "SteelSeries ApS - Keyboard - SteelSeries Sensei [RAW]" update. The update fails within seconds of starting with error 0x80240016. The initial failure message darkens my screen (even when another program is full-screened) and shows a simple message, I don't currently have the verbiage and can't reproduce until Windows attempts automatically.
The update says keyboard in the name, but also says my mouse model. I'm sure it probably pertains to my mouse, but my mouse is working fine and this update fails regardless.
I've rebooted. I've attempted to install while a different mouse was plugged in. I've tried updating mouse and keyboard drivers automatically through the Device Manager ("device driver is already up to date"). I've installed keyboard and mouse drivers from the vendor sites.
Is there anyway to get Windows 10 to forget about this update and stop trying to install it?

All Windows Store apps that I have fail when they are automatically updated. Here's what I just got in my event log.
Event ID 20 - Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: OneNote.
When I go into the Store and look at the update it shows the update as having had a problem. I can click on the spinner icon which downloads and installs the app so all is not lost.
I don't have any other problems with Windows Update. Other than Store apps they all automatically install just fine. I've seen lots of various solutions for WU problems but I haven't found one specifically for Windows Store updates. I'm hesitant to try one of these solutions since WU works fine except for Store apps as I mentioned.

When I attempted to start up a new laptop to install genuine Windows 10, (downloaded from Microsoft website), via USB I received the error message,
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you".
Error message also said ... "Attempted write to read only memory (WimFsf.sys)".
The laptop attempted to start several times but the same message was seen.
The new laptop is an ASUS X554LJ-XX025D, free dos.

I've successfully updated to Windows 10 on my two Surfaces, but there is some kind of issue on my desktop PC. The upgrade process from Windows 8 fails at about 71% total (Installing features and drivers at 91%), and the error I get is:
C1900101-40017 Windows Update ran into a problem.
When I click on "Get help with this error" I'm directed to a page with some general troubleshooting with Windows Update. I've run Windows update repair tool and it fixed some issues, but the installation failed again.
I have now tried freeing up more disk space which I admit was a bit tight and I'm preparing to run the update again. Still, I'd prefer if there was a more detailed error message or a log file where I could see what exactly went wrong, but there are no indications where I might find one (either in the error message, the troubleshooter, or Google). As it is, I'm shooting blind here and this will now be my fifth upgrade attempt.

I am trying to install iTunes 12.2.1 on Windows 10 Pro. During installation I get two errors, I believe they are connected. I am running this as Administrator from a User account. I have also tried running it with Windows 7 compatibility checked, same result.
This is the first error:
The installation continues for a little bit, then it throws this error:
At this point the installation fails.
My brother is in an identical situation; both of us have identical machines, upgraded from Windows 7 (where iTunes worked) to Windows 10, did a system refresh, and encountered this problem. Installing either version 11 or 10.7 do not throw either of these errors, however upon launch, it said it was not installed properly and would need to be reinstalled.

I have been trying to upgrade 7pro for a day or so with no luck. First of all I tried the 'get windows 10 app' this tells me a update (KB2952664) is not installed. It was showing as failed in my update long but has since installed ok. However the app still says its missing. So I tried the media creation tool. This starts up fine but about 40 min in this screen appears
I press ok and after about 10 seconds the installer just closes, and that's it we are back to normal. I have tried this 3 times and I get the same result.

I recently upgraded from Win 7 Ultimate to Win 10 Pro. After upgrade, I can only start Remote Desktop once if done shortly after a boot/reboot. I believe it's only a matter of several minutes, but can't say for sure yet.
Shortly after rebooting, Remote Desktop will start and function correctly. If I close that connection and attempt to restart, the "loading" circle appears for about 5 seconds, then disappears. Nothing happens after that.
The mstsc.exe process starts, but nothing happens. A new process will start for each successive time I attempt to start remote desktop. I've stopped the processes and tried again with same results.

I have just built a new gaming PC and everything works fine, windows installed correctly, all drives are recognized programs are installed etc.
But I have a small problem... When I shut down, power off and leave my PC for a while, upon startup, windows wont boot. It goes onto the motherboard screen and then says ''starting automatic repair''. It gives me a list of options, and the only option which gets me back to windows is to restore to a windows recovery backup which I created. Every time I shut down, I have to restore and then add a few programs that got removed which is very annoying.
The PC is stable and all my programs which are installed are working fine, but for some reason, it enters this recovery mode when I start up from a shutdown.
I am running windows 10 64bit, my motherboard is an Asus VII Hero and I have installed all the drivers which are needed along with a few programs. I am thinking I may need to do a re-installation of windows, would that fix the problem?

I only have this problem with Win10 Pro x64, regardless of the version/build numbers (v1511, build 10586.29 currently). After making a few connections to my network location that I add, in this case a WebDAV file server for school I use, Windows will eventually decide that the location doesn't exist anymore. If I remove the drive, and add it again via "Add a Network Location", no matter what address I enter, the location "...doesn't exist..." (click for image). The wizard will start, I give it an address, and after a few moments it tells me it cannot find the location, while the Windows Security box's bar is still moving from left to right trying to connect.
If I use a third-party program, it will work at first like above, but after I connect so many times after system shut downs, these programs will eventually stop working too (but they at least retain a cache so I can view my drive offline); this is because Windows Explorer decides again the location doesn't exist. If I decide to boot via my Win8.1 install, it works as I would expect it to. EDIT: A few days later I tried one of the 3rd party ones (MountainDuck for example) and it's working again. I imagine it will eventually quit again though like before.
I've done everything I can think of to rule it out including:
Disable AV suite & protection/defense components
Make sure any networking related services are running
Use DMZ on router briefly to rule it out
Using Windows Troubleshooter
Disable firewall
chkdsk (via my USB copy)
DISM repairs via my install.wim file
Run system repair (via my USB copy)
Interesting enough, this is a relatively clean install. My first Win10 install had huge problems with the v1151 update, so I formatted and installed Win10 v1511 right. This problem, exactly the same, occurred with my first install too, eventually just ceasing to work like now. Whereas I'd expect the problem to start after I installed some program or service, it always happens a few weeks later out of the blue, when nothing new has been installed that could explain why it stopped working (or at least to me).
At this point, I'm lost and don't know if this can be fixed, or if this is another problem to add to the list of "Windows 10 killed networking in general".
I've attached a CBS log, but importing my install.wim file doesn't change it, nor does it probably change my login background which I know also makes the system find errors.
Attached Files : CBS.log 3.72MB

Downloaded Windows 10 ISO, created a bootable flash drive using "Windows 7 USB DVD download tool" which I also got from Microsoft.
Set first boot device to USB in BIOS.
Saved changes and turned laptop off.
Turned it back on, with the flash drive plugged in, but computer boots to Windows 8.1 instead of the Windows 10 installation.
Restarted again, and pressed F9 to show a list of boot devices, it just shows OS boot manager, and DVD drive, not the flash drive.
Tried with Windows 8.1 USB installer, same thing happens.
Went back to BIOS, enabled "Legacy Mode" and turned off "Secure Boot", restarted, the computer can now boot to the USB stick.. for both Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
Disabled Legacy Support, the computer fails to boot to USB devices again.
So, I cannot boot to a USB device if I have Legacy Mode disabled in my BIOS.And if I boot using Legacy Mode, Windows wants to convert my GPT HDD to MBR.
How do I boot to USB using UEFI instead of Legacy?

I can't do a clone or a system image.
I installed a new HD and booted from my latest USB Upgrade from the Windows Media Creation tool.
I skipped the activation as it installed.
Now when I use the original product key, it fails to activate.

I have recently updated my desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. For some reason, File explorer seems unable to show metadata. For example, here is what File Explorer shows for one example powerpoint file:
I created this file on this same desktop before the upgrade, and it has a bunch of metadata including category, subject, author, etc. Since it's in a google drive folder, I can compare this with what I see on my Win10 laptop:
As you can see, the file itself has a full complement of metadata, it's just not showing up properly in File Explorer on my desktop.
I'd like to figure out what setting is incorrect on my desktop that's causing this, if possible. I should add that all of this information showed up correctly in the Windows 7 details pane on the desktop before I upgraded, so I presume it's a setting that somehow got changed during the upgrade.
