View 2 RepliesI just installed Build 9879 over Windows 7 on a spare machine and it went as expected except for the size of the Icon fonts and size of the taskbar. They both are much larger than they were on Win 7. I can't remember how to make them smaller. I make the icons themselves smaller (medium) by using View on the desktop but the fonts and taskbar are way to big. How to reduce them under Win 10?
View 6 RepliesI wish to know if there is a way to change the font size/style (bold, etc.) of the icon labels ONLY on the desktop screen.
I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.
E.g. Labels on the desktop with size 12 and bold. Fonts in folders: size 9 and UNbolded (default style).
how you change the size of the font in windows explorer, I do not wish to increase/decrease the screen's overall DPI.

View 2 RepliesI tried the below but the area is grayed out. What can I do? Finally, if you want to make systemwide changes to your font settings, you can do so here by looking to the toolbar on the left side of the Font control panel. For example, to increase or decrease the font size for, say, menus and icons, click Change Font Size. Choose the item you want to change, then select a size. (You also have the option of ticking the Bold box, which is actually kind of a nice tweak for things like title bars.)
View 3 RepliesWhen I change font size from 9 to 12, it is okay until I shut down and restart. It reverts back to default. Is there a fix?
View 1 RepliesI cannot read the names of the various icons on the desktop. And I have been trying desperately to change them going to the settings etc. But no luck.
View 1 RepliesIn Win.7 you could modify the font for the windows, both size and font itself. Win 10 will not all me to modify size, which is stuck on 9pt, and there is no option shown to change the font to Times from Arial.
This means I have had to alter the scaling to 125% so that the icons on the taskbar are big enough, and the text on the windows readable. This, in turn, messes up the resolution on Skype and another program. How you can get the ability to change font and font size?
It seems the default font on this WIndows is Arial and it's really ugly, especially when reading an entire page in Chrome or in any other browser. Tried to change the font in all browsers- no result. It can change only the size- Arial still there. It bugs me that it's everywhere, even in games. This compact font in games is really annoying and made me quite after playing a few minutes. I have no problems with overlapping or unreadable font problems I've read on this forum.
View 2 Replieshow to increase the font size and/or font type in the start menu? All the regular "personalize" options are basically for desktop and text and borders and the like, but nothing for the menu itself. Turning the magnifier on is NOT practical.
View 7 RepliesThe area in the display settings to change font sizes etc is grayed out and I can not find any way to make my various text sizes bold..
View 1 RepliesWhen the computer comes back after being in sleep mode for a while, all the icons and fonts are in much larger size and with very poor definition. If I shut down the computer and start again, everything comes back normal. This issue only started after the upgrade to Windows 10.
View 1 Replieshow can i enlarge the size of the font beneath the icons on the screen as attached
View 4 RepliesI know I can change the appearances of text and icons in Display settings. But in Win 8, I had the option of only affecting text and icons. Not everything, such as apps.
View 3 RepliesWhen I try to customize my font size display settings (see attached), they revert back to default after a reboot.
I did a fresh install of Win 10, and this was the first thing I checked, just to make sure nothing was interfering with it.
How do I change the font size of my desktop icons in Windows 10 ?
In old versions of Windows you could do that thru Control Panel Display Appearance
But i don't see that in Windows 10. How to do it ?
I can easily change the size and font but can't find how to set it as the new Default setting. Can it be done?
Using Mail for Win 10 for first time, as that is what appeared for my Outlook email account. I found today that when using either CC or BCC a 'Return' occurs immediately after entering an email address, thereby moving the cursor to the line below, requiring moving the cursor back to that original line so that another email address can be entered, and again and again.. Never saw this before so probably/hopefully a fix is coming.
While typing an email I touched the Caps Lock key mid-sentence and typed one capital letter in error. I touched that key turning off the caps lock function and the light went off. But from that point on I could only type in CAPS regardless of what I did. I had to close email and restart it to have it return to normal.
How do you set the font style and size in W10 Outlook?
View 1 RepliesMy friend's computer will not load web pages:
1. Google and Yahoo searches do work but
2. Clicking on a search result produces a something like "This page cannot be displayed".
3. The problem goes away in Safe Mode.
4. I have run the following commands in batch mode:
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns
nbtstat -R
nbtstat -RR
netsh int reset resetlog.txt
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
5. Other devices have no problem with the router.
6. I have scanned the computer with Malwarebytes, Windows Defender and Avast.
is it possible to change the font-color of the username in the login-screen?Maybe changing the font and fontsize too?
View 2 RepliesI've looked and looked and cannot find a way to change default font and size in the mail app. Is there a way or registry hack or what???
View 2 Repliessince upgrading to win 10, font size doesn't display correctly in outlook 2007. ribbon says 11, but is like 5. zooming doesn't fix.
View 4 RepliesI can't get my internet to work properly, on any browser. Most websites will come up with either "408 Request Time-Out", or "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE", "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET", with the request time-out one being the least frequent. But for some reason this does not affect every website. I can still get to youtube and google just fine, and Tumblr too, until just a few minutes ago, and now I can't reach that either. I've already tried clearing my cookies and cashe, reulting in no discernible difference. I don't know what to do.
View 1 RepliesI've been having this issue for a long time (not sure how long), some internet pages that require the browser to load resources/images/whatever are laggy as all hell. Sometimes they load fine, but other times it takes forever to load thumbnails of videos on Youtube or images on Google Images.I clean my cache and registry, using CCleaner, fairly often so it's not a clutter issue. I scan my computer fairly often too, using Malwarebytes and Windows Defender, and never found a threat so it's not a virus/malware issue. I have no internet toolbars, speed enhancing apps or any other programs of the kind. I also have my drivers up to date.
View 3 RepliesIn the last day or two, I noticed that the font size and style on the vast majority of websites that I visit has been changed, and it's not a good change! It looks like Times New Roman now, and though I don't know what the font style was before, I know it wasn't this.
Also, what a typical web font size is, but it seems that the size now is probably somewhere in the 8-10 point range. Nothing has changed in my settings that I'm aware of - at least I'm not the one that made any change. I currently have zoom to 250% which is what is recommended for this Dell XPS 13. That's what it's always been set at, and everything looked fine before. Almost everything from Google, to Facebook - you name it - is displaying this new font style and size.
