getting these frozen scroll bars on their screen. They dont go away when I refresh or close my laptop screen. Only way is restarting the computer. They overlap on the current screen and dont go away.I havent been able to find anything about them.

I can access it through my phone or the gmail link from Google, but the last 24 hours when I click on the envelope (mail) link at the bottom of my desktop, my email screen opens up but nothing is responding. I can't select any email to read or select any option--the screen is completely frozen. I have noticed since the Windows 10 download that the email screen instantly displays all older mail, but is slow to cough up any new ones. That wasn't a problem with the 8.1. I'm not a "techy" person, but wonder what I can do or how can I report a frozen email screen?
View 2 RepliesAfter upgrading two old household laptops to Windows 10 through the step up dealio, I decided it was okay and stable to update my one month old gaming machine as well,
( YES I forgot to back it up, stupid, yes. Only truly worried about my save game files as the critical information on my SSD, nothing dreadfully important besides lots of hours of wasted Witcher 3 time)
The update installed seemingly fine, although overnight and I woke up to the password login, whence from there I entered my password and the screen freezes and the PC restarts almost immediately and brings me right back to the endless cycle of Login/password entrance screen.
1.Can I make a bootable USB from my other laptops with Win10 currently Installed and use it to reinstall on my gaming rig, or at least download it online and do it that way?
2. Would reinstalling my Win7 delete any folders and files (save games and steam games not on backup 2TB HDD) that are on my SDD, basically downgrading windows back from the Win10 login to the Win7 stable version?
3. Could it be my GTX 970 crashing new Win10 because I didnt install the new Nvidia driver pre-Win10 install? Maybe try removing the card and booting with onboard i5 4690k GPU? (will try soon)

Installed win10 and after an hour (?), restarted and got the log on screen. After logging in, windows did some customization and displayed the screen similar to win7 After log on. The screen is frozen, with a blue animated circle (similar to hour glass function), but doing nothing. Logged off using ctrl+alt+del, logged in, same result. Restarted, same result. What do I have to do to make it work or just go back to win7
View 3 RepliesBasically when i go to turn on the PC it turns on and gets stuck on the screen where it tells me to push DEL or f2 to go to the bios settings. The problem with that is it wont let me access the settings at all when i push either of those buttons. So then I turn my PC off and then on again and it boots fine. Then I check for updates to see if it's some bug and I'm up to date. So I restart to see if the problem has been fixed. And it gives me the same frozen screen of the BIOS options. Then i turn it off and it boots fine, wash and repeat.

Recently I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 however this caused several issues with my laptop so I reversed the upgrade back to 8.1. My Kaspersky AntiVirus would then not work leaving just a blank logo on my desktop. I tried to uninstall kaspersky using the uninstall programme available on their website but upon restart I can no longer get past the login screen as I can't use my keyboard or mouse to enter my password. I can enter a screen that allows me to select safe mode but again I can't enter my password. I have a Dell restore USB but this will not work. I have tried USB mouse and keyboard but no luck either. I cannot preform a restore at all.
View 1 RepliesI've a sony laptop cum tablet (ultra book) with intel core i7 processor. I updated to Windows 10 today (previous version Pro windows 8). The install was successful but after the install my start up screen started flickering. I shut down and restarted the laptop and now the opening screen is frozen at the log in page which says- 'fast access, face recognition'. The camera is also not working to recognize the face. I'm also not able to log in manually. (I used to have face recognition mode with pro windows 8)
The laptop is not shutting down any more and don't accept alt+cont+delete command.
after windows 10 upgrade cursor is frozen i have tried to reboot, remove battery for certain amount of time, trouble shoot the hardware, nothing works.
when i start up the computer i am able use the mouse but once it properly boots up THE MOUSE IS FROZEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN
My 2 year old computer did a windows 10 update overnight and I woke up to a frozen computer. It is stuck right before the desktop. I cannot do anything. I've pressed the normal buttons one would press and Nada.
Rebooted by way of the power button. Boots to the same screen before the desktop and freezes. I cannot get into startmenu to get to safe mode.
This problem has persisted since upgrading to windows 10.
I play games with steam. If a game gets frozen or hung up I would normally use task master to end the program. Now when I bring up task master I cannot see it. It appears to be running in the background but the game screen itself is still on top. I've tried ALT TAB but the screen will not toggle.
This morning, the clock on my system tray stopped updating itself about an hour after I turned on the computer. It is plugged in and has been plugged in for days on end without being carried around the house. If I go into the control panel and look at date/time, the time is right, it just isn't updated on the system tray anymore. I tried modifying the time zone to see if it would redisplay the clock - no. I tried dragging the taskbar around to see if it would refresh the clock - no.
I have not yet rebooted, that might very well fix it at least temporarily - but I thought I'd ask if this is something people have already seen and solved by restarting a service or some such system fix. I googled a bit and read the similar posts retrieved from here, eightforums, sevenforums, and the useless ones from Microsoft that recommend safe mode and DISM for everything...
Interesting tidbit is that if I right-click on the clock and choose Adjust Date/Time, it doesn't do anything. Once it returned a dialog saying something about there being no service associated, but now I can't get that dialog to come back.

Just upgraded to Windows 10 and found out that my computer which was setup with a "password after sleep" does not require any longer any password after sleep without me changing anything on the setup. How is this possible? Did I miss something in the upgrading process?
Moreover, when I try to check and validate the windows 10 setup regarding the use of passwords it seems everything is correct on the screen but not changeable. Options are like "frozen".
Windows 10 is frozen and locked with an open window ... no luck with ctrl alt delete , tab , esc , power button ... nothing ( Lenovo ideapad )...

View 2 RepliesFor 2 weeks my "Mail" app has been frozen and I use Windows Live Mail to get emails. My "Calendar" has stopped working, can't open it up to get appointments nor to add to dates. My "People" app has never worked, I am assuming this app has all my contacts in it, have to use Live Mail for my contacts. Yesterday "Edge" would come up when I clicked on it then would flash and disappear behind the task bar but today it is working, not complaining about that. When trying to do "updates" it says it can't. When running Norton Full Scan it get stuck at Microsoft Tap Tiles.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 today and nothing works. The toolbar is perpetually frozen and can't be used for anything. Alt tab and Ctrl-Alt-Del only work occasionally. My keyboard and mouse just fail randomly and I have to plug them in and out to get them working again. Search function doesn't work. I haven't been able to get any Windows 10 programs to work. I can't even revert back to Windows 7 since I can't access settings due to the toolbar being frozen, and trying to access it from My PC causes my computer to freeze.
At this point I'm really just looking for a way to revert back to windows 7.
Shortly after I finished writing this post Chrome stopped working too so I'm on mobile now.
Since installing windows 10 my lap top has ran slowly, frozen on startup page and now I can not turn my lap top on at all.
View 1 RepliesI've been having two issues for the past few weeks. After a while, (it varies time wise) the start menu and search bar become unresponsive and will no longer open. The only way to make them respond again is to restart; however, this comes with another issue. It will hang forever on the "Restarting..." screen unless I do a hard shutdown.
On the other hand, a hardware error keeps appearing and it appears to talk about an Nvidia driver.
After checking the reliability monitor, it shows that I have two critical faults:
I've tried numerous troubleshooting steps, which I will list below, and none of them have provided any lasting results:
Disabling Cortana (worked at first, now the issue is back)A clean install of the latest Nvidia drivers, twice on two separate days (fixed the hardware error for a day, now it's back)sfc /scannow (It shows no integrity violations)Installing any and all windows updates (nada)
I even chatted with a support agent at Microsoft and the only thing he could tell me was that "User Accounts are being corrupted and that Microsoft is researching a fix". I'm confused how User Accounts interfere with the start menu and cause a hardware error. This never happened when I was on Windows 8.1, so I am confused as to what has changed (other than the OS version, of course).
My windows is completely frozen. Key strokes don't work. The cursor moves around the screen but clicking things doesn't work. ctr+alt+del doesn't do anything.
When I shut down manually and restart the system stays frozen on restart. F-8 isn't working to enter safe mode.
How can I unfreeze the system, or how can I enter safe mode while everything is frozen?
I am past the "Working on it message". The system told me it was preparing the upgrade but this might take a couple of hours so sit back!! I now have a black screen with a blue window in the middle and the pc has frozen for 90 minutes so far. I have a Dell Studio pc with windows 7 home premium. The pc will not respond to any mouse clicks or keyboard strokes.
View 1 RepliesI have an Insignia 8" tablet that I use to listen to an internet radio station. WiFi connection to my 2Wire 3801HGV router. I have it powered by the AC charger. I have the display to turn off after 5 minutes, never to go into sleep mode when powered by AC. After the 5 minutes the display is turned off, the music continues as expected and will continue for hours. But if I try to do anything I loose my WiFi.Right after the screen is shut off I can enable it again with a stroke. Then the music stops. I no longer have internet access.
Network settings says I still am connected but somewhere the connection is broken. I disconnect from my router and then try to reconnect and it will not. I get, Checking Network Requirements, Can't connect to this Network. The only way I have been able to get connected is to do a restart. I have not found any settings that have been useful. All it should be doing is shutting off the screen. Not go into any other sleep or power down state.
I did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with an Intel I5 processor, 64 bit with no hardware upgrades (stock). I had accidentally stepped on the screen (fell off my lap and then crunch) which was mangled beyond repair, so I have been using it similar to a tower, with a VGA and/or HDMI connected monitor (my HDMI cable went bad, I picked up a new cable but hadn't hooked it up to the second monitor. I started my free upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to 10 last night. I woke up to the black screen/mouse pointer issue which is what brought me to this thread. I tried the recommended fix:
1. Hit ctrl, type in password and enter
2. Win Key + P + Down Arrow. (Win Key + P only seems to do the same thing)
This brought up options to
1. Disconnect projector (Tried this and lost connection to the VGA even after reboot)
2. Duplicate (Screen is still black with mouse cursor, but I saw a little bit of red and blue pixels at the bottom where the task bar should be until I disconnected and re-connected the VGA, then it was back to black screen and cursor)
3. Extend (still black screen and cursor)
4. Connect Projector (still black screen and cursor)
I'm not sure what to do. I must have some OS installed, because I am able to also perform these operations from my USB Keyboard/Mouse. I'm just not sure how to get Windows back on my VGA connection (I haven't tried HDMI because I did not have it connected when I ran the update.) I thought Duplicate displays would do the trick, but apparently not. For as beat up as the laptop is on the outside, the hardware performs fine. I also have a 2nd laptop (work laptop, also a Lenovo W541) that I can use if any solution involves downloading something bootable.
Since upgrading to Windows 10 from 7, I ran into the same issue as [URL] ....
So I tried the catalyst scaling option for my desktop and this seemed to fix the issue for mostly everything, desktop and most games, However, the problem still seems to arise with some games I try to play, such as Xcom Enemy Within or Dawn of War 2. Changing resolution in these games doesn't appear to have any effect, the image is still falling off the screen, I use my desktop on a 32 inch TV as opposed to a monitor via HDMI, and keep it set to 1600x900 as opposed to its native 1920x10180, but even leaving it at 1920 has the same effect.
I have my specs on a dxdiag file, dunno where to upload it here, but I'm using a AMD Radeon R9 200 Series on an Asus I built.
I upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.
