How To Bind Magnifier To A Mouse Button
Jan 13, 2016
I find myself zooming in and out of pages in chrome a lot and would like to start using the magnifier. I was just wondering if I could make it a whole lot easier based on how frequently I would be using it by being able to bind it to a single, extra mouse button. It would be quite handy if I could turn it on and off with a single button rather than a key combo shortcut, I don't want it on all the time and would most likely be turning it on and off very frequently.

I'm just wondering, once i upgrade my OS to windows 10, does that upgrade bind to my current motherboard and will only work with the motherboard it has been upgraded on only. I am asking this cause i am planning to upgrade these days, but i also have plans to upgrade my cpu during the next year which will ultimately require a new motherboard. So i just want to know if i can upgrade without worrying that once i change my motherboard that the OS will become invalid and that i will need a new one.

I recently upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7. I thought the upgrade went very smoothly.
After I started exploring I noticed that the text in what I call buttons disappears when the mouse moves over it. For example:After pressing the left mouse button on the start prompt when I move the mouse up to high lite all apps or power or settings the text in the button disappears. The button still functions normally. I also have noted that buttons imbedded in some email do not show at all.
I am using a HP P6750f CPU
my current OS is Win 10 upgraded from Win 7
Processor Pentium dual core E6700 @3.2GH
Ram 4GB
System Type 64 Bit
Graphics adapter uses Intel G41 chip set

The Windows 10 Magnifier can give you a “dark” theme by converting light themes. The Windows 10 Magnifier has a color inversion mode that converts blinding white windows with black text into relaxing black windows with white text. It’s easy to set up, doesn’t require any downloads, and doesn’t require any risky Registry editing that might get overwritten by the next Windows 10 upgrade. Once you set it up, the Magnifier keyboard shortcuts will turn it on and off.
To set it up, go to ‘Start’ and open ‘Settings’, then select ‘Ease of Access’. Select ‘Magnifier’, and set the ‘Magnifier’, ‘Invert Colors’, and both tracking switches to ON. Set the ‘Start Magnifier Automatically’ switch to OFF. Then start the Magnifier, and set it to 100% & full-screen view. This gives you a color-inverted view, and, since most applications provide a white work area and black text, you’ll get a black work area with white text. Of course, wallpaper, JPEGs, and other colored objects will look a little strange, but you’ll get used to that in a hurry if you’re writing documents, using spreadsheets, or dealing with websites that are predominantly black text on white background. If the color inversion is getting in the way because you’re dealing with graphics, just turn it off by using a Magnifier shortcut (<Windows key> + <ESC>).

With Windows 8.1 either mouse button could be used at the login screen to select a user account for login. In Windows 10 it seems that only the left mouse button can be used at the login screen. With kids, some of whom are left-handed and use the mouse left-handed, this is confusing, as they click on their user name but nothing happens. Once they login the mouse buttons work as they expect, but for the left-handed ones, the mouse doesn't work as they expect at the login screen. The previous Windows 8.1 behaviour was preferable.

Two weeks after the installation of Windows 10, the left button stopped working on one of the two accounts on my laptop. I can't get my start button, Start menu, icons on my desktop. Have tried sfc/scanow, DISM.exe/online/cleanup-image/scanhealth & many of the remediesfrom the net with no luck. Surprisingly the second profile on the computer is working fine. I am at a point of returning to windows 8.1

Any way of making it so that when I press the Power Button on my Windows 10 desktop that the computer will power down without me having to click with the mouse to turn off various programs or clicking the "restart anyway" button that appears. I managed to do this with windows XP in the past. I think it might have been a registry alteration?

Is there a way to stop the middle mouse button (i.e. click of the scroll wheel) from opening Cortana/search?
Things I've tried:
1. Searched Google. No useful results. The closest I found was that Windows 10 may be confusing the click of the middle mouse button as the 3-finger tap on the touchpad - which opens Cortana/search by the default. But I don't have a touch pad. I have the Toshiba PX30T (Toshiba Qosmio PX30t 23 inch Touchscreen All-in-One PC - Black/Silver (Intel Core i3 3120M 2.5GHz Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDSM DL, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8 64-Bit): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories).
2. Tried re-configuring the middle mouse button in (a) Windows 10 Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad, (b) Control Panel > Mouse, and (c) my desktop's manufacturer's System Settings utility application (upgraded just now from their website). Interestingly, none of those three configuration tools had any control setting for the middle mouse button.
It is obvious that Windows 10 doesn't "fully" support the wireless mouse that comes with my PC.
Is there a way to "unbind" the middle mouse button from opening Cortana/search? For example, via the Registry Editor - maybe?

My magnifier and narrator auto-start on the lock screen despite them both being switched off in the Ease of Use panel. The narrator turns off when the desktop loads and the magnifier stays on in the shape of the magnifying glass in the upper left area of the screen. It's not debilitating just annoying. How to fix it or maybe a regedit that can get rid of them completely?

I just did a clean install on W10 and change my bios to UEFI (which it supports.) I'm having this intermittent problem with the Windows "Start" Button in the lower left. It just stops working - left clicking doesn't do anything, although right-clicking does. I just have the basics installed now.
Also, my Windows "Start" key on my keyboard stops working as well. I checked on a keyboard checker and the key itself is fine. I have to log out/back in to get it to work again.

I use left handed mouse, and swapping left / buttons works OK. I also set the wheel button to be "double click". But the wheel button brings up the context menu instead of double click. If I change to right hand mouse, the wheel button gives double click as expected. how to make the wheel button give double click for left hand mouse?

I got nearly a week ago a HP laptop that originally had win 8 on it, but installed win 10 right after starting it up. Things are working fine so as the bringing up the start menu by clicking on the start icon. but for the last 2 days now the start button does not pop up anymore when i click on it.
Doesn't matter if i move the cursor over it with the touch pad or with a mouse. also the search icon next to it doesn't react either. all the other icons work without any hassle.
I am still not a 100% familiar with win 10 and laptops, so im not sure what the problem could be. I can right click on it to turn off the laptop but being able to call up the menu with a simple left click should be functional.

So I upgraded to W10 on my laptop (MSI GT-60), and ran into several problems, most annoying are these two:
1. Search button next to start isn't working, I tried to restart Windows Search in services, but that didn't work, the only solution is to create a new windows account, then it works, but that's just not ideal
2. A minor problem, but still - icons on my desktop cant be moved to the very bottom of my screen - it simply puts them back one "box" above, and that's just annoying, since I am used to having the trash can at the very bottom of my screen.
I've done sfc/scannow several times, tried to clean the PC with CCleaner, but nothing worked, the computer is otherwise running smoothly, but this is just annoying...

I don't like them because they shrink the icon size and when I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen where the red arrow is and click it doesn't register.

My Win10 Home 64 bit computer was working correctly yesterday. Today there was one notification which just showed 'windows.immersivecontrolpanel-cw5n1h2xyewy! microsoft.windows.it', although I am not sure if the last part was something like 'immersive' as the last character looked strange, so could have been part of a letter.
At the same time I had update KB3081438 which required a restart, so I powered down as usual, rather than restarting, waited 20secs and then started up again. Now clicking the start button does nothing except that the icon changes colour. In addition I had Settings pinned to the task bar and now there is just a space where it used to be. I can click on the messages icon in the tray on the right and open Settings that way, but it is quite slow to respond. I have also noticed that a couple of other icons are missing, but there is a space where they used to be.
I did a System Restore to a restore point created yesterday but all that did was mess up Office 2016 which I had to do a repair on. Quick Repair did not solve the problem but the full repair did, although it was a bit of a struggle to get Office to reconnect to my account as it did not like my MS Passport login, and did not accept the key I copied from MSs website.

Can't find one. Apparently the only way to invoke a change is to hit the X button. Which is a pain if I want to look at alternatives. Maybe a keyboard shortcut?
