How To Open Fullscreen Windows By Default
Dec 18, 2015When I open the window or application, it often starts in small windows.
Is there any option in Wndows 10 to make system remember that I prefer fullscreen windows from the start?

My friend installed Win10and he misses playing AoE in fullscreen like in Windows 8.1. Now the app opens inside a window.
View 3 RepliesThe new Windows notifications appear over my windowed fullscreen games, especially in one game covering up the minimap. Is there a way to make it appear under them? It used to work perfect in Windows 8 and earlier, where the speech bubble notification would appear over my non-fullscreen programs, but would be hidden behind windowed fullscreen ones.
View 2 RepliesWindows 10 opens to a single slider, perfect for touch screens, but I want the mixer back. As it is right now I have to right click to open it. How can I make it default.
View 1 RepliesI have screwed up my default open folder with.. it all started by trying to set the default console to powershell, I have been messing around with registry settings but in the end I failed to set it up.. then I went and double clicked a folder to open it and discovered that the default double click option was "open with visual code", that is when I started to dig around in registry again.. and removed visual code from being the default but somehow ended up screwing even more my default open, I can now only open my folders by right clicking on them and open in a new window..
if I double click them I get the following error message "windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have appropriate permissions"
I'm used to working with quite a few libraries in W8.1 and would like file explorer in W10 to directly go to the libraries view if possible rather than the 'quick access' screen.

View 3 RepliesI reinstalled my Office 2007 programs back on my computer after updating to Windows 10. The only problem I am having is that Outlook won't open the default browser (IE11) when a link is clicked. Instead, it pops up a box that asks me what I want to use to open and , even if I select IE as the app and check the box that says always use this app, it doesn't "remember". I've set IE as the default browser, both in Outlook and as the default browser in Control Panel. Anything else I can do to make it open link with IE instead of Edge?
View 5 RepliesI'm using W10 and have Edge as the default browser (I also use Chrome and Firefox). Some programs are automatically opening in Internet Explorer such as when I open Google+ photos or when software updates and shows what has changed on its website. how to change this so it all opens up in Edge?
View 5 RepliesExcuse me if this has been asked before, I have a weird issue in This Computer. When I double-click a hard drive or other device, it tries to launch some unknown deleted application and fails with an error message (see below). If I right-click on the drive, I see that "cmd" is default instead of Open and I can proceed if I select Open. This issue occurs only in This Computer. Clicking any other folder on the desktop or elsewhere opens as expected. Could it be a malware? I'm now scanning with Malwarebytes Antimalware just in case.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to have the start menu open with all apps as default?
View 5 RepliesSay I set MPV as the default media player. For ALL media types. Then I go into my music library via file explorer and double-click an mp3. It will ask me which app I want to open it in "or keep using MPV".
Even though there's a "Always open using this app" checkbox, it doesn't listen to it and if I shut my computer down or even just log out, it completely resets that open with dialogue... so if I go to double-click an MP3 again, it pops up.
I've double-checked that MPV has control over it's mime types in the control panel (not just the Settings app), and like I said it asks if I want to "keep using MPV". And that's just one example, it does it with my web browser more often than my media player.
I made the upgrade to windows 10 and am getting annoyed because I am unable to use my chrome browser as default. I have it set as default, but it still won't launch or open at all. I can search using google, but can't get chrome to launch? Ready to go back to windows 8 already.
View 1 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, and I'm quite having my issues when it comes to playing my games. I have NBA 2K14 installed and whenever I run the game in fullscreen mode, there is an fps drop and whenever I use windowed mode, it just turns out fine.
I have also installed the driver updates from NVIDIA's website. My video card is a GeForce GT 610 as of this moment but I'll be changing it to a GT 730 soon btw. I don't wanna play games in windowed mode.
When I start a game I go in Windowed mode, And when I press ALT + Enter to go in fullscreen mode, or when I change it from the settings, The game crashes, And I see a little CMD icon in my windows start bar, it goes away in less than a second.
I tried formatting Windows, But it doesn't work.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro insider preview
Build 11102.rs1_release.160113-1800
Intel i5-3470
12GB RAM
1TB HHD
Asus GTX 960 Strix 2GB Overclocked.
Games I tried : Black ops 3 (steam), league of legends, Battlefield 3, 4, and Hardline (origin)
I have noticed that the area which shows shut down, personal folders etc is always visible when fullscreen start menu is not enabled. But when you change to fullscreen mode, you have to unfolde that part of the start menu, which I find very anoying, since i prefer fullscreen start menu.
So the question is, can you pin that part to the fullscreen start menu.
So I just noticed that the little diagonal double-arrow at the right of the title bar that you use to run modern/universal apps fullscreen is suddenly missing. The arrow was there when I installed Windows 10 and was still there (afaik) up until a few days ago. Now I just have minimize/restore/close.
View 1 Repliesim starting to seriously hate this default media player now... not so much on music even tho when i press stop on my keyboard it still does not stop but anyways back on topic
is there a way to make the media player enter fullscreen instead of just maximizing the window ? ive tried ATL+Enter and still nothing.
Many BSOD's happened while I'm developing and testing a game. I'm using Intellij IDEA community edition. The game is using lwjgl 3, which in turn uses GLFW 3 and OpenGL. The BSOD always happened, while I was editing one of the source files, and quickly launched the game from the IDE. The game is configured to start in fullscreen. BSOD never happened when it launched in windowed mode.
The error code seems to be 0xD1, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I've tried so many things to no avail. Finally came to my senses to post on a forum.
View 9 RepliesJust installed Windows 10 about a month or two ago, and ever since I upgraded (from Windows 7), whenever a program enters full-screen mode (a game for example), the monitor cycles its power off and back on for a quick second, which causes it to display its "power-on" logo on the screen (in this case, the Acer logo), and wait a few seconds before it goes back to the correct display.
I watched lately when it started doing this, and the blue light that shows monitor power actually flicks off for a quick second, and then comes back on. I've never seen it do this before, but it's like maybe Windows 10 is changing the monitor display output to some insane resolution maybe, and causing it to power itself off for a second? Or it's turning the output off for a second?
So I started changing my desktop backgrounds with my own images, but now, in "Settings", I no longer see the backgrounds that are included with Windows 10, like the blue Windows logo one. They don't show up in the 5 boxes.
This new "Settings" Personalisation page is terrible... Where are they saved?
I'm not sure what happened but I may have adjusted a window to a larger size manually. Anyway, my windows sizes are stuck on maximize. This Dell Inspiron 3537 came with the dreaded windows 8, concurred as awful by all users that I know...so I installed Windows 10 on it.
I have this weird thing about being able to use all the functions available?
today i have updated from W7 to W10 on my Lenovo Z580. Now I can not open settings and Windows10 apps like Calendar, Edge,... (and calculator as well - "Explorer.exe element not found"). Tried Emerging Issue 67758 fix but it didnt find any issue.
View 5 RepliesI have a home built Desk Top Computer and when I turned it on this morning and when it finished booting I had lost a lot of my icons and what was there all moved to the left side of the screen and the wallpaper went back to the Windows 10 Default. Also the Application short cut screen that comes up when you left click on the Windows icon in the bottom left enlarged and took up half my screen. I tried to adjust it by using the mouse and dragging it but that wouldn't work either. About a month or little more ago I had upgraded from Win 7 Home Prem with no problems at all. It has been working fine until this morning. I had to go back to a restore point to correct it. My wife has a Toshiba Laptop that I upgraded about the same time and hers did the same thing except that she didn't loose her Icons or wallpaper they all just moved to the left of the screen.
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if theres a way to change how and where new apps open? Say i open a new window of My Computer, it automatically opens in a small box in the left side of my screen. I would prefer it automatically open taking up half of the display. Is this possible?
